Of course, a medical hair study isn't going to rule that these relaxer's/perms cause cancer for black women. If they did, then the hair care industry would lose out on tons of money and lawsuits would ensure. Studies have indeed shown that it leads to uterine fibroids in BW. However, some women just don't care and that's their right to choose. I've been natural since 2008 and I love the 4c hair that I was birth with.

No studies have not shown that. What you will find are hypotheses that say this but the conclusions on fibrosis and breast cancer clearly said there was no association with it. Unfortunately no one read that. They just took the headline. This last report actually called flat Ironing, pressing, and smoothing treatments your hair as the same as a relaxer to get this number. I just want the truth out. Nor scaring women about a lie.

@@hairelementsproductsceo I agree, combined with Lysol, Hairsprays, Cleaning Products, etc. Can we really pinpoint what's causing cancer? In my immediate circle I've known only 2 women with cancer. My Grandmother who smoked Newports heavily for years, and a family friend who was diagnosed in her 60's. I appreciate research and knowledge but need more facts and examples. I've read that inflammation due to poor diet causes cancer so........🤷

I was watching a tv programme few years ago about black Americans and fibroids . I notice that in Europe amongst black women it rarely existed and then I notice onething, almost every women is natural and wears mostly braided hairstyles while black Americans are mostly relaxed hair, so I ask my obgyn and he said yes black Americans uses lots of harmful chemical in their hairs and this create so much chemical imbalance also even the notice a lot have hard times having children after 35 where as here black women gas children later in life and mist at 38. Well I smiled because I was 43 and pregnant.

I love this. As a beauty industry professional who makes relaxers. You ladies are the ones I always refer to as natural. So many of the y2k naturals don't even wear their own hair. Not even braids. It's Weave, lace fronts, or wig the majority of the time. That may be hazards towards our health. Especially when you want a natural hair product. And you cannot even pronounce or recognize the ingredients on the back of the products. I'll just have to do more research on the products for my hair and scalp.

This conversation didn’t solve much of anything. Many women have had reactions to perms. The false advertisement behind the little girls on the perm boxes never actually permed their hair. The most complaints the FDA receives is not from food, it’s PERMS. This conversation could have been a lot mote in depth. Not to mention, Chris Rock years ago in the movie he created revealed the harsh ingredients in perms. The ingredients in perms can burn through glass. Tell me how that could be safe in any way? I had a horrible skin reaction to perms when I was younger and stop using perms. Perms have been link to fibroids for women of color. This conversation could have done a lot more. Not being rude, but just saying.

Did you ever have to deal with your scalp or skin burning from perms. Why does the FDA receive so many complaints pertaining to it? Its the fact that you said no one calls them perms as your highlight of the argument like that was going to make me feel some type of way, nice attempt. Also, you tried to state as if I’m apart of a natural hair community trying to push an agenda when I’m far from that. You know what they say about people who assume. All I was saying is their are more health concerns regarding this topic. And here you go, can’t wait to make a negative reply. You said all that without saying nothing at all. You being a hairstylist, still did not address no of the other effects perms have and had on black women. I mentioned several points and I was just scratching the surface because their are more. You passing them out to your clients so of course the research you conduct will naturally be biased. I’m sure if you attempted to do more you will find. Your not a woman and would not have the same effects of a woman. I think you should go back and do your research. I don’t take your word for it, and I already studied for myself. Clearly, you need more studying regarding this topic. Here’s a suggestion, to conduct your research unbiased, how about going at if from the angle why are health professionals stating that it may not be so safe? Since you think your protecting us. Clearly, your WAY older than me, I’m sure their are more important black conversations regarding our community you could be having. I guess old age doesn’t equate to wisdom. Ladies natural hair only requires oil and wether we liked it or not, dax is the only product that will grow our hair like crazy. What ladies must be aware is, wash the hair in the morning, then in the same day oil the scalp and comb through. Twist or braid in about 6 , then at bed time oil again and comb. Just style your hair with a little hair tye where you catch up the middle and leave out the front and the back. Live your life the way you are, that's your hair. Do not search for any polish look. By the way, it's not the hair that people notice but the entire look and body. Trust me in Europe or where I'm living people are more attracted to body time, how you wear your clothes and how clean you look. Every other race knew what black hair looks like and yes black women only looks great with braids, curly or natural hair. Do you guys remember when Tamar use to wear those wigs? She always looks better with Afro curly hair, braids or bald.
