On August 21st, 1985, I was 17, not quite two months away from my 18th birthday. I remember that WGN used to show old black and white Flash Gordon serials at like 530 in the morning. Good memories.
I remember the WYCC sign-off/on. Signed off @ midnight, back on air @ 6am. They use to play the same loop of music in the morning during the color code before going back on-air.
You sure that was "The Growing Years"? If so, what episode would that have been? I agree this was more a '70's filming. Some public and "educational" stations ran these types of shows forever, it seemed. Just for example, I vividly remember seeing a show originally produced in the late 1980's, "The Western Tradition" hosted by Dr. Eugen Weber, on CUNY-TV well into the 2000's.
Ah, yes, the days when TV stations used to go off the air late at night and sign back on in the early morning. Those were the days!
This was fun. I'd love to see more things from the 1980s.

That's interesting to see what it was like to surf channels in the 80s.

Just going to comment on how killer that track is.
I was about about a week away from starting High School on this day. If I knew then, what I know now.
I forgot how The Joker’s Wild worked, so thank you
The Growing Years segment starting at 6:04 looks like it was filmed in 1975 than 1985.
Definitely 1970s, it would seem.

It certainly didn't look like Joanie Greggains' "Morning Stretch," that's for sure . . .
"20 Minute Workout" was taped in Canada.

I leave a friendly reply and it gets deleted, truly no good deed goes unpunished here
What got deleted? I didn’t delete anything
I would like to various stations in the 90s
Editing?! Really don't need to see the color bars or tone noise from 1985😁
Some folk'll never want to see that stuff, but then again, some folk'll...
@@FuzzyMemoriesTV😂 nice try, but really.
Growing up in Lagrange and Hinsdale in the 1970s Ray Rayner was what you watched in the morning.
Show it to a kid today and you’ll blow their mind.
@@chrisw6164 good point. Better yet tell them that Tv went off the air late at night.
I didn't know bill Cullen was the host the jokers wild, normally,it would jack Barry ,the original host the show
Same sign on spiel as WPIX.
