I have the Ulanzi one (or the previous model they made at least) - Word of warning for APSC users, it wobbles on the smaller bodies (A6400) but is rock solid on the A6700.
Another bonus of these is if you fit a long Arca Swiss plate to their plate, you get the same reach as a mounting collar bracket on a telephoto lens. This means you don't need to add the tripod collar to zooms (some don't come with them) as the plate is as low as a collar plate would be (not getting in the way of the lens). This is especially useful for my Sony 70-350 (APSC) as it doesn't come with a tripod collar, but the Ulanzi with a long base plate gives the same result.
Also - the upside down option - great for when you invert your tripod centre column, because your camera is then the right way up!

A great in-depth comparison, Dunna. I got the Silence Corner a while back and I'm sad to say, it' gathered dust pretty much since I got it. I'm really struggling to make it work on the RS3 with the A7iii and original Tamron 28-75mm. I saw Chris's video but didn't go in enough for me. Any advice or a follow-up would be greatly appreciated (if you have those items that is).

I bought 3 Silence Corner Atoll's and I love them, that being said, Silence Corner can easily release different mounting options since the front arca swiss plate can be unscrewed. I don't know why they aren't releasing more mounting options that I can change instead of that arca swiss. I really would love to invest in the company that has the original idea but also, come on Silence Corner, you can make this thing so much better with thoughtful accessories!

I purchased the Ulanzi S-63 (mine actually doesn’t have a red knob it’s black) about 3 months ago. After NAB Falcam sent me theirs (my next video is comparing the two). I use the F38 system and love the falcam for that…..but I still lean more towards the Ulanzi for the smaller form. (I just wish the bottom plate was f38 or have the ability to put your own on it like the falcam, because I use peak design back pack clip (with the PD/F38 plate). I still can’t decide between the two. Great breakdown as always!

Nice comparison. I ended up getting the Falcam one and one thing I don't think you mentioned is that it's not compatible with Peak design accessories like the capture clips (huge bummer they couldn't make it compatible), or manfrotto ball heads (rc2 or 200pl). If you go down the Falcam route, make sure you have, or are willing to switch, to their ecosystem. The only compatibility you get is arca and Manfrotto 500 series (which is nice I have to admit). The F22 rail on the bracket, does work with nato rail, it's just wider than standard nato.

I have been using the brand Custom Brackets for the last decade. It's a much larger bracket that makes it easy to go vertical. I brought the smallrig and it arrived today, but I realized there is an issue. I shoot with the Sony vertical battery grip on my a7RIV. This is optimal for when shooting vertical as it gives me easy access to a shutter button. • @ryanleethomas
      @ryanleethomas 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@@rameses_ actually yes, I bought the Falcam one for my EOS M, and it works great, however the baseplate widens enough to block the battery door from fully opening, so you’ll need either a dummy battery setup for long term shoots, or you’d need to take off the half cage more frequently and replace with a quick release plate if you use the F38 system of plates. That sort of defeats the purpose for quick release, but as far as fitting the mount and rotating the camera, it does the job neatly.
I can’t speak for others, but I would imagine the e mount options fit the EF-m cameras in most cases, with the only guarantee being the falcam as mentioned, with its battery door restriction caveat.

So much for intellectual property, huh? Nisi offers a series of these rotators with varying throat sizes depending on camera system. Sony-compatible rotators are 63mm while Nikon Z-compatible rotators are 72mm. Fotopro makes a quarter-turn rotator that will not interfere with the camera's grip or (in the case of Sony) lens release button. Personally, I would not want one of these lens-limiting accessories permanently attached to my camera body. My vote goes to the Custom Brackets Digital Pro PV rotator. I've used that for many years. Every lens fits and it's fully Arca compatible on the camera body side (with the CB Arca mounting platform). JustRite used to make a similar rotating bracket but they now seem to be defunct.

Well, you showed the Atoll alternatives (copies) but , in my opinion, you didn't investigate so much about the Atoll and you missed a lot of things:
-There are 4 versions, the new one is the Atoll X that it also comes with some new plates to adapt all the Atoll versions to more cameras/lenses and the possibility to mount in cameras with cage.
    - There is a grey and Black version in allsizese , the black version has a square base plate.
    - All the Atoll versions are compatible with Peak Desing Capture 1 & 2 , you don't need to fix an extra plate.
The Atoll needs some improvements, like a button to release the lens , but now is the most complete , tested and flexible solution.

i don't understand why all these are made for a stills head mount and not extended for a base plate mount to fluid head which is functional for video. i would want some kind of extension plate 1/4-20 so i could center the full weight on the base plate of any fluid head and then rotate without the rig having to clear the end which puts all the weight in the back. all these designs fail for working pros in that regard.
they should all be designed like a standard Removable Tripod Mount on any FE70-200 which has 360 rotation, easy adjustable mounting to any base plate, and easy on off removal. what in the world are they thinking?

they all have the same problem, you can't rotate them 360 which makes it impossible to use the screen in portrait mode, I'm going to build one

Have you tried them with camera cages? If you did. Which one is compatible with camera cages?

Fakkkk! I use falcam f38 everywhere and they betray me doing this only for sony cams. Got my atoll with a f38 plate under, but the single mount screw gets lose eventually. Good to sell all options side by side!

Yeah would be nice to see these companies expand to some other options.

@@dunnadidit i talked personally with atoll and they said that they'd release some upgrade soon, like a suporte por cages and l brackets. I shoot with 2 r6 and I leave one full rig and other with all cleaned up with only atoll and a mall shotgun mic
