Maintenace on Blue Peter taken early nineteen nineties Keighley & Worth Valley Railway Howorth shed sorry about the quality taken with Ferguson Videostar V H S camcorder Part 2 to follow
Thank you so much for a really interesting video! I really enjoyed it! You can really see the dimensions of the locomotive on this video. Greetings from a steam - fan in Norway.
i remember the appeal on tv to save her i sent in all my moms best silver knifes and for well i thought they were no use as they bent getting my bike tyres off.
No, this was taken BEFORE the horrendous 1994 incident, because it was said that Blue Peter was towed to the Thornaby MPD for heavy repairs to its valve gear.
No, it was later in 1994 that that happened, so most of the rods you see here got mangled up then. She was taken to Thornaby MPD for repair & eventually returned to the main line in 1996.
What a majestic engine!! The design intent behind her aesthetics alone, is entirely magnificent.

Was this maintance after the accident where she blew the valve gear apart?

@@MrAndybye Yeah, after that it was cut for scrap.
The assembly became loose and a pin snapped. That could happened at any speed
Bad way to put rods back on, both ends should slide over the jornals at the same time
Where is blue peter at the moment?
Too expensive to repair so it was scrapped.
Untrue. She was purchased by Jeremy Hosking (4464 'Bittern', 5029 'Nunney Castle') and is set for a mainline comeback in 2020.
@@PreservationEnthusiast f*** off she is at crewe under overhaul to mainline standard so bugger off with that b*******
