Your recap was a very helpful refresher, especially the end part on pivoting the text and numeric sheets right in Desktop. I access Qualtrics through the university I work for. They have a server set up that employees have free access to. If your organization doesn't support this it does look like Qualitrics has a limited free option (www.qualtrics.com/free-account/), but other survey systems have methods for collecting Likert scale responses - that's just the system that my clients use most often.
I don't know much about the infrastructure. My understanding is that the Tableau Web Data Connector needs to be installed on your specific instance of Qualtrics. At Duke we have a license for that and it's installed on our system, but I assume it's not installed on every instance of Qualtrics Server. You can still export spreadsheets from Qualtrics and visualize in Tableau - it just won't be that nice live connection.

I registered on Qualtrics and tried to export the tableau link, but the tableau link is not showing on my end, mine stops at user-submitted files
