    I remember playing your game as a kid and being absolutely SHOOK when i found out it was so much more than just a flash game. I'm having that same feeling now, but like 10 times more because you're still keeping that early 2000's art style. This is like watching bob ross program a game. Keep up the great work, i'll deffinetly be buying this game when i get my pc.

      I think there's one at the end, but having those stats in real time (energy production and consumption, creep etc...) might be a nice touch.

    The Livery crate system is just the coolest to me. Seeing the resources slowly get boxed up, delivered, and slowly depleted as they enter the system again is fun to watch.

    I love how Virgil legitimately loses sometimes. A game where it's own developer can't beat it sometimes is a very good game indeed. It's refreshing, and it's cool seeing his legit reactions to things/situations he didn't anticipate.
    Also: Are Creeper World Fanboys/Gals called anything? If they aren't, I'd like to submit the term "Knuckleheads" into the lexicon.

    I've loved this series ever since I was a small child, and I am super excited for this game! That said, I have a couple of recommendations.
    1. Try to be as consistent as possible with the buildings that are from previous games. Some of the changes to their names or physical appearance seem unnecessary and potentially confusing. I find particular fault with the relay's new name of "pylon", mostly because it'll make it harder to talk about Creeper World 4 without it sounding like StarCraft. And whatever happened to beams?
    2. I would be intrigued to see some maps that already have some naturally occurring liquid in them, like seas and oceans of water. All the maps in the Creeper series look rather similar because they are all bone-dry until the creeper comes. How will the creeper interact with water? Will it float on top of it, maybe, or cause ripples in it to damage the player with tsunamis?
    3. In Creeper World 2: Academy, the battlefield was changed with a vertical playing field. Since Creeper World 4 is in 3D, one has to ask: Will the playing field be both horizontal and vertical? With the power of the third dimension, one could fight the creeper not only on the horizontal front, as has been done many times, but on the vertical front, clearing out caves and gullies. This seems to be a unique time to implement this, not only to make the game more interesting, but also to keep consistency in the Creeper universe. Wouldn't that be so cool?

    This would probably take a lot of time to develop but it would be cool if you could upgrade weapons, maybe have a factory building and after you build it, move a unit into it and you could choose to select one of two upgrades. (Example: Cannon upgrade one - increased fire rate, increased ammo consumption. Cannon upgrade two - triple bullet spread shot, slower fire rate.) You could only do one upgrade per weapon so you could strategically choose what would help the most in the situation. Then make the upgrade take a certain amount of resources (bluite, redon, A.C, arg, etc.) You could have a mortar leave some anti-creeper when it attacks, but need A.C. to fire, sprayers have longer range, etc. A cool touch could be when the weapon is being upgraded you could see the model being changed over time, so it would change bit by bit until ready.
    It was just a thought, if it is put into the game it probably wouldn't be this complex because that would probably take a lot of time and resources. It would be awesome if something similar to this was put into the game, and I can't wait to see what other crazy things like the airsacks and strafers (I think that was the name)! I just realized how long this comment is XD

    Those air sacks will be tough!!! The missiles don’t start firing until it’s already over the land. Maybe they need a range buff? Or the air sacks could fly lower.

    Looks like the, "cover my own base in anti-creeper" strategy might be a necessity when there's air sacs around. But then there's those boat things that can ride on anti-creeper...

    It seems that missile defense doesn't do much against airsacs unless you place them waaaay ahead of your base - placing missile turrets IN your base doesn't stop the airsac from dropping its payload right on top of your crucial structures just before it explodes. The only counter against it seems to be spamming snipers on high ground in the hope of destroying the chains before they deploy (since that one sniper alone did almost nothing to it) - and possibly also drowning your important buildings in anticreeper beforehand.

    For the emitters you might wanna change the way they work, like more horizontal spray to look better on the eyes

    Wow, the air sac is brutal. Might need to Nerf those orbs from it a bit, but otherwise a clever enemy. Can't wait to see cw4 shields in action.

      Matthias Reicher there's a difference between fair and unfair challenges though and so far it seems airsacks lean towards unfair

      Austin B Definitely, Austin. I think a major part has to do with how high up it is. If it were lower, the missiles could hit it more often. Also the sacs themselves are just way too massive and erratic to be fair (at this point at least).

      @ Matthias Reicher, I know he wan't totally serious about winning, but we just watched a dev (who knows the game mechanics inside out) play the game and build multiple of the anti-air sac weapons quickly enough for them to be up and running before one air sac hit, and still suffer massive damage.
      So yeah, they seem pretty strong at the moment. If you hit something with the specific weapons that are supposed to counter it, it's fair to assume that they'll, you know, counter it.

      xn85d2 I understand what you are saying, and that is how things usually are in the testing faze, but if you pay close attention, the missiles could only hit it when the airsac was directly above the launcher.

    Those airsacs seem quite OP: the range of the missiles is in all directions, instead of like in the other ones where range is only horizontal, so unlike beams in CW3, it can only fire at airsacs nearly above you. That means you will need missile launchers at the edge of your territory, or else you will not be able to destroy airsacs in time.
    On the other hand, this does make the Play As Creeper maps a lot more realistic, as you will indeed need to spam your entire area full of defenses to keep those bubbles from killing all your non-weapons behind the front lines.

    looking absolutely incredible, it's great to see a game iterating on previous strengths and adding new interesting mechanics, the bombers are EXACTLY the type of thing this game needs, an actual threat. Once I got good at CW3, every fight was only interesting until I killed the first spawner. From that moment onwards, it was just cleanup because each base you eliminate makes the game easier. Threats like these keep you on your toes and make you have to consider counter play and never underestimate the enemy.
    I'm incredibly excited to play CW4 when it comes out, keep up the great work.
    P.S. towers being collectors is a good way to do it imo, I think it's unnecessary busy work to split them like you did in previous episodes.

      It doesn't look too bad. The cannons took care of the creeper it dropped quickly. If he had anti creeper in his base or shot the airsack down earlier it wouldn't have done much damage at all

      The issue seems to be the snipers shoot too slow for being the only unit able to take out so many balloons.

    I'm loving how this is progressing! Can't wait! I like the air sacs the way they are. Requires thought in planning out base. Makes you think about inside defenses and anticreeper. 1-3 was pretty much just focus on your defense ring and you're fine.

    Would it make sense to have a display of the total volume of creeper on the map? So you can track whether you're removing more creeper than is being generated?

    That part with the Liveries waiting for the crates to empty before restocking makes me thing, will we have storage buildings?
    It could be useful to have a building to store stuff in before you start building in that remote location.

    Two suggestions: first add an upgrade ability to the energy transmiters so we can choose if we want to harvest resources using them or if we want longer range transmission, second: make smaller blobs pop up on the surface of airsack instead of making them hang down and looking funny. Hope that the game will come out soon, your entire series is great I can't wait for CW4.

    I remember first playing creeper world1 waaaay back in the day. I loved the whole slow, methodical aspect of the game. It's great to see after all these years it's still got that touch. Cult classic.

    I love the ghosts of buildings flying up into the sky. That's a great addition. The air sacs seem powerful (As they should be), but nothing some extra snipers can't handle to keep the creeper beads down while the missiles clean up the air sac.

    I love the fact that the creeper chains from the air sacs swing around like that, it makes them feel extra foreboding.
    Also, ignore the people who are saying they’re super OP, they seem like a mostly fair mechanic, but only for late in the story. Maybe increase missile range a tad though.

    I'm a fan of Creeper world series since i played the flash version on Armor Games. To see it go into 3D its really warm the soul

    As this video shows again: VR (as an option) would be great for this Creeper world version as it makes the heights (walls) and volumes of creeper so much more directly observable. However, the interface may be a challenge due to the lower resolution but I'd imagine not insurmountable.

    I think that the perfect thing to balance the airsacks would be the shield towers. It would be so awesome to have spherical shields around your base and when the airsacks drop their bombs they just bounce right off, or maybe it slowly slides off down to the bottom. Either way, it would look awesome!

    I have a question then about the frames. if everything is set to frame time, does this mean we cant set the game to>60fps without breaking the game?

    Basically a spore launcher that can fly and shoots way more and you get less time to react and it is less predictable and you can't stop the payload with just a blaster. It's about time the creeper got something scary

    Is there going to be a visual (maybe colour-based) cue for the depth of creeper? In earlier games this was easily accomplished with the layers, like a topographical map, maybe there would be a toggle for an altitude overlay on the creeper.

    Heres an idea for more depth.
    For the bigger maps, with too long supply chains you could make outpost buildings.
    All energy would still upload to the main base, however an ultrahigh speed line exists between each outpost/base.
    and with a slider you can adjust howmuch % of your main base energy will be balanced between the base and each outpost.
    New buildings will select the closest outpost/base with available energy to draw buildenergy from.
    The outposts also have a max capacity ofcourse, and might also be a replacement for the storage building spam in cw3.
    Perhaps can upgrade outposts into bigger versions to increase capacity and make ammo available to pass on the ultrahigh speed line aswell.

    Will the fluid simulation eventually be more eyecandy? Would be sweet if you could make it look photorealistic like in those demos showing off fluid physics simulations. Even if it's purely cosmetic, i would be sweet.

    wow.. i remember playing the very first creeper when its released all those eons ago.. that game was soo addictiviely fun! and look how far its become.. massive improvement!
    I should get all those creeper releases and play them.. lol

    Very nice! However I really liked the idea of separating the collectors from the basic network tower functions the way you had it in previous demo videos. I hope you decide to go back to that. :)

    I believe that one good way to balance the airsacks would be to have them grab creeper from the surrounding area of their path (maybe sucking them up via a straw or other apparatus?) but leak creeper as it gets closer and goes over a farther distance. This would mean that the airsack is a double edged sword for the creeper and also becomes more of a threat as you advance towards its origin.

    Would it be possible to add an indicator that shows how much creep is on the map? At 8:02 or around that time frame you said that you bet you were on a losing trajectory, so is there a way to add an indicator that tells you of you are or aren't on one? In previous games you could tell by how dark the creep was, but in this game, it's hard to tell

    my strategy has always been form a sustainable battle line then use generators to power the big hitter units. in evermore that was drones in 3 it was the berthas. then spam that until the creeper is a large flat puddle then mop up. after many games the sheer repetitiveness of this one fits all strategy became monotonous as so long as i could establish that first line i was almost guaranteed victory and the strategy was almost all in pausing at the outset and trying to estimate what i could build before the creeper reached any given position then build up to but no further than that. if that succeeded then i practically could not fail if not then i usually couldn't recover. but at the same time for a few minutes when all my big guns came online (and i deliberately timed it so they did so together) watching the sea of creeper that was a few minutes from outpacing my dps completely be decimated in a cascade of shells or bombs and then again and again was so incredibly satisfying that i never felt like changing strategy.

    I like the direction with the graphics, very borderland-ish.
    The water physics and ground textures could look a *little* more natural, but hey, that's not super important.
    overall, I'm liking it so far

    i have a few things to say about everything
    like how the drone looks like a real commercial drone currently, i imagine in the distant future they might become more evolved when more development work has been done
    Also i feel mortars have been nuffed in some way, the fluid creeper just flows into thin sheets even at high emission making them less effective at killing creeper or reducing creeper amount far away from emitters or when creeper has not built up, but still in a lot of cases it seems to work normally so im not sure if its the levels or something else. but i definitely feel a change however far in the future.
    And i know the game is still in development but i imagine reactors might be implemented soon so you can get more power when you test.
    but for the thin towers as collectors seems interesting, there is always a half way between the 2 options, having towers have a small energy collection radius, while giving real collectors more radius and some other effect.
    fabricators i have nothing to say about :/
    guppies successor, i notices its just delivery without the de,
    im not sure about other people but the complex task of having to choose what to make the guppy load and take was too much for a lazy me, when fighting creeper i prefer the carriages be automatic so it can carry even amounts of everything. i dont know if there were short cut keys for it but starting up delivery networks was a bit idle, would be more engaging to set up more complex and strategic delivery networks as a part of gameplay.
    also crpl is amazing, i hope to get the magic pyramid totems again those were the best
    airsack blob friend also looks cool, i like the giggly bouncing animations of fluid and dynamic motions.

    I would like to ask about the livery, isn’t it a bit op if merged with the microrift? You could set up a base behind the lines without the problem of supply lines that can be cut (relay) or limited supply (livery)?
    I suppose the rift could require a consumable resource to maintain once built, like the nullifiers.

    Love that you actually made the drones! I remember suggesting it like 2 months ago I guess great minds think alike haha.
    Game is looking amazing, it's really starting to itch wanting to play this all day haha.
    Will buildings like the mortar be able to use different ammo (like anti-creeper) as well?

    I know this is very early in the game but still: could you add shortcuts to the different options in the weapons? so if I have a cannon selected and press "delete" (on my keyboard) it should delete it, when I press "p" it should pause the building process, etc so that I dont have to move my mouse across half the screen.
    its one of the things I found really lacking in CW3 though otherwise its the best RTS Ive ever played

    seeing those liverys i have a few ideas you could add
    A. strafers. GOOD GOD i would build so many strafers in CW3, when ever i needed some creeper destroyed i would always call upon my Strafer Squad
    B. bombers. speaking of liverys maybe you could make some sort of bomber....drones?
    C. those.....micro.....rifts......ok i kept seeing those micro rifts in vids but they are never used......maybe the liverys are replacing them?...who knows
    D. shields. i had my problems with shields in CW3 but they were handy in specific situations.
    and thats my ideas......i would be happy to hear some responses.....if i get a reply from virgl it would MAKE MY DAY

      Micro rifts sound like instant travel so maybe it will become an improved form of the liveries/guppies.
      If this is what happens I’d suggest it to need a resource to function and its demand for it increases the farther the other end is and how many rifts are interconnected, if interconnecting rifts directly is allowed.
      If the liveries/guppies replaced the micro rifts it’s also fine by me

    Probably want to make the Airsacs have an adjustable bubble creation speed for balancing purposes. If they produce it quickly, snipers are less effective against them. The current Airsacs look like they are producing two bubbles every time the sniper fires three. At the speed they reached your base, you would need probably about 6 aggressively placed snipers to get rid of the bubbles.

    To be honest, air sacs doesn't seem that big of a deal. Just have a large amount of snipers and they'll destroy the bubbles before they land, and then the freshly produced ones too.
