Kuroko aren't ninjas, they're supposed to be stagehands for Japanese theater, with the black clothes being visual shorthand to the audience that they're supposed to be invisible. Also the island is a homage to "Ganryujima" which is the island where Musashi Miyamoto had his duel with Sasaki Kojiroh, which is who Haohmaru and Ukyo are based on.

🤔 I think Jubei's stage is the one that I like the most from SS 1 and 2 with it's numerous iconic stages (similar to the SF series), but this one from Haohmarou/Ukyo is representative of the entire series.
I literally stopped soul calibur vi a few months after it came, and the fact that this stage and this character is dlc surprised me. glad that i watched this because im reinstalling soul calibur vi to get this dlc and your video here inspired me to go for it
This stage is meant to represent Japan given that the mountain, Mount Fuji and the sun being above it gives the country the name: "The Land of the Rising Sun".
I do agree the detail on the tori gates are pretty good, I think the game as a whole would look better if perhaps they chose a better color palette for the game since it’s so drab as it is
