How do you find pulling focus on the 100mm? This is a great example of using the 100 macro as more of a telephoto lens. Great stuff

It's actually fairly difficult haha. I use the tilta nucleus nano and nucleus m side handle which makes it easier, but it can be pretty hard. Especially when using an ND and shooting at f/2 or more open.

@@fatheadmediapro Difficult because the rotation is so much, or something else? Does the placement of the focus gear move as the lens focuses? Its hard to tell without actually using one.

@@ash.walton difficult for a few reasons, which you can learn to deal with. Yes the focus gear moves out and quite a bit, that is the biggest headache with this lens. Putting a mattebox and dealing with that is a pain. I bought a focus gear by focusgears.com for like 40 that is longer to accommodate this. It's also difficult because the focus throw is pretty long and it moves, so trying to get critical focus while dealing with these and a 100mm at f/2 can be difficult. But it's doable.

@@fatheadmediapro Thanks for the honest opinion! In hindsight with the drawbacks.. do you think its worth it for someone interested in one or just look at other 100mm options?

@@ash.walton no problem. I have been thinking of selling it, and just haven't been able to. The image that comes from it is absolutely amazing. It's a pain, but I personally think it's worth it. Maybe you could rent one to get your hands on it.

Amazing stuff! Did you use any denoiser?

Thanks man! I generally will apply a light amount of temporal noise reduction likely very light on these clips. I then add a film grade node with the size, softness and texture all set to zero. This helps with banding on websites and delivery.

This guy haha, what an idiot.
I think the semi low con look is awesome for this. Especially when I’ve heard the Zeiss are such contrasty lenses
