Absolutely jealous! Wishing we had gone up as younger people, I think i would have LOVED to have lived there as well! It’s a amazing place! Of course, I don’t know if I’d hold that same sentiment in January????
@Mrs M 😂😂😂 yes sir it does get brutally cold, feburary was when I did see the coldest. Mid March to April, they will get the pineapple express that comes in. Those are fun to ride out. If you get a chance to go up again, let me know, I can toss out some ideas for you guys. 🤙🍻
@@dougmate2378 I’m actually planning a trip back next March. I’m thinking it should still be snowy, yet the days will be a bit longer. I’m thinking of flying into Anchorage, taking the train to Fairbanks. Then we’ll head up to Chena for a few days. I think 10 days to two weeks duration. Any input, or deviations you think i should make would be greatly appreciated!
@Mrs M you definitely will enjoy that trip. If you stop in Talkeetna, there is a burger joint that has awesome food, a Buffalo burger that is out of this world. When you go to chena, the lights should still be going. If you like seafood, downtown Anchorage Humpy's has awesome food. I have some friends out in Palmer and Wasilla I can ask what their recommendations are for food also. You can also make a day trip out to Hatcher pass also. I've always enjoyed that area. Independence mine is up there, but I think it's sealed off.
We went to the Independence mine this trip. It was very interesting and a beautiful location! We went to Talkeetna too! But I wanted pizza there. Can’t wait to go back! It was a cute little town. I absolutely loved everything about Alaska!

I spent three weeks in Alaska and drove almost every road there including Kodiak island. I love the raw beauty Alaska has to offer. And fully intend on going back but this time I might be staying. Great video Mr M. I just wish people could actually see the blue of ice that no video or film does justice.
We also spent three weeks there! I’m absolutely intrigued by Alaska, but I’m afraid we are TOO old to think about moving there. I don’t think I’d survive a entire winter there, I’m more d a Maui kinda girl. But I’m hoping we can go back next winterish (March) to actually experience the snow and cold. Should be interesting….
Did you have your China cup of tea with you for this trip...ha. Thanks for sharing this scenic tour with us. The wash areas to the sides of the rivers looks to be made up of volcanic ash. That must have been quite an adventure for you & Mary. Good for you to take such "adventurers". Liked your comment, about "marching to the edge". (yup, we all are). Stay well.
