    I started watching your videos when I was considering going to NP school and I now have an interview in a week. I'm extremely nervous but I'm so grateful for all your tips! I especially love the questions to ask, I almost always blank on those.

    Thank you for all your videos, Liz. I deeply appreciate the time you take to share your experiences with others. I initially found your videos two or three years ago when I was starting my prerequisite and kept up with them all the way through. Your advice on interviews and approach to align your own values with the values of the program really prepared me when the time came to lay it all out there. I start my ADN program this Fall at the top nursing school in my state and I am beyond elated. Thank you for doing what you do.

    Spot on video. I interviewed (and was accepted) to a DNP program 2 weeks ago. They definitely asked the two big questions. It really does pay to have thought about them in advance, to avoid the "deer in the headlights" expression.
    At my interview there was no call for copies of my resume, which is good, because I neglected to print them on nice paper! Additionally, I only wore a dress shirt and tie (with pants, naturally) omitting the blazer.
    The questions you formulated regarding pass rates, travel distance, employment after graduation, etc. are brilliant. I wish I had thought to ask a couple of those, especially the program retention rate.

      Mr. Jones congrats on your acceptance!! That’s so exciting! I’m glad the info was relevant. Good luck on your journey!

    Thanks for this video Liz! I'm currently in super freak out mode while I prepare for my DNP interview :( Watching the video helped ease some of my anxiety! The simple reminder to bring out individual personality and not regurgitate buzz words was great common sense advice! I tend to lack that when nervous but, your posture and tone of voice when demonstrating the "textbook" response is ingrained in my mind now! I hope your nausea has improved. Be nice to mama little human!

    This makes me glad I took poetry interpretation, had to take a speech course, am VP of NHS and have to coordinate and talk to others, and most defiantly I did some theater. Also my art competition had an interview part and I did well! That practice seems like it may pay off!

    Hey! Thanks for the video! It was amazing! Do you have any practice or trigger words to say during the "Why do you want to be an NP?" Like I know why I want to do it, but Im sometimes scared that I won't answer appropriately

    • @NurseLiz
      @NurseLiz  6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Thanks Leah! Do you know what type of NP you want to be (acute, primary, ped, etc.)? If you are going into something like primary care, I would make sure to focus on things that you are excited about, but that pertain to being a primary care NP. For example, I love patient education. So I talked about how I was excited to improve my patient' preventative care through education and personalized patient care. Does that make any sense?

    Thank you for this video, it was awesome. I have an NP interview coming up next wk and I am so nervous lol. I’ve been doing a lot of research on how to conquer the simple questions that I somehow go blank on (cause of nerves of course) and really found what you said to be very helpful. Would you recommend any suggestions or pointers on the infamous questions of what are some of your strengths, weaknesses and the tell me a little bit about yourself? I seem to not be any good at those simple questions and somehow find myself babbling (yikes)

    Dear Liz, thanks for all of your useful tips! This video is amazing! Btw, do you have any suggestions when you were asked to share a failure experience? Is it appropriate to share what I learned from a medical error?

    • @NurseLiz
      @NurseLiz  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think it just depends on the situation. I tend to favor near misses for those, but we have certainly almost all done med errors and if you learned from it it could be a really great answer!
