Great instructions. Beautiful results. The seal on the stationary portion of my kitchen window apparently wore out and so that part of it has become discolored with white spots in between the two panes. Before I replace the window I am going to try this method. It's so lovely anyway that I want to use it on one of my hutches as well. This way my window will remain functional for now AND look gorgeous. New windows aren't cheap. Thanks.
@@VintageBeeDesign I looked again, I know why you kept. It is a nice colour and the glass fabulous I want to do thexmirror glass and stencil on my front door. It's an old Victorian era home, and the original glass was that etched glass, however only one piece left inside in the door into the living room, that is red with a pattern. I have always wanted to do etched glass in the front door but expensive to buy it, the red is way expensive. Now I see this I think the mirror glass and stencil is the way to go. I know you can now buy etching paste but I like this. Is there a final reveal where you put them that I could look at?
Thank you ... I have a vintage airstream and two of the windows look terrible because there is an interior UV film between two layers of glass that is cracked and curling and can't be removed until I take the entire two-window assembly apart. I'm going to use this technique to camouflage the cracked UV, but without the background coat because I want the light to show through ... may be a disaster, but this is the best method I can think of, temporarily, to make the windows decorative in a way that will let light through and use the crackle as a design element. Experimenting by the seat of my pants! lol
This is amazing! I can't wait to try it. Can you show us the technique on how you did the wood finish on the front please? I want to do this to all of my glass, and furniture now! LOL
You will need to use a product to remove the back of the mirror. It’s much more difficult, but still feasible. You just have to remove the glass and backing (without breaking them) first.
Wow! I love this look🤩 I have never seen this technique with stencils...it’s awesome....I paint furniture and have an old farmhouse....this would look so nice on some upcoming projects..thank you for sharing 😊🌟k
I have another technique that I really want to try with tissue or mulberry paper. I'll be trying that one out soon. Stay tuned to find out if it's a hit or a fail. lol.
I do my pattern, then use mirror spray, then metallic spray (they have a different look than each other). The metallic silver will look like the mirror has lost it’s reflectiveness. So, you’ll have the shiny mirror and the “dull “ mirror, just like real mercury glass.
When you say background color, what do you recommend? Do you mean the color behind the mercury glass? If so, you could go with almost anything. Why not try a navy blue? You can always practice on thrifted art first!
If I did my stencil in white would I need to use white on the last step where you sprayed the brown all over. I hope that makes sense. Your project is beautiful
I stumbled upon your video and I was blown away by your project! I've NEVER commented on a TH-cam video! I just found an antique door with glass inserts and I think your technique would be so perfect. I was wondering if light can still filter through the glass? I do plan to use the antique door to replace my front door. BTW, thanks for sharing the technique!
Mme Chien Thank you! That’s so kind! I hope you do try it and tell me how it goes! I’m actually going to try another one with smoked glass and gold leafing today!
This is so beautiful. It looks amazing! I have black glass in my kitchen cabinet doors. Would you reco on black opaque glass? Any advise is appreciated!
Bonnie Criscione-Brown ok. They are seriously dark. 😬 if it were my kitchen, I would probably have new glass cut and inserted, or even more likely, paint over the glass.

This is BEAUTIFUL! Thank you so much for teaching and sharing! I would love to do this on my china cabinet. I heard you say that the product used for the mirror technique was called Mirror Mate but I can not seem to locate it anywhere. Can you please advise where you purchased it or if there are any substitutes that may work? I don't want to just guess and then mess my project up completely and have to cry. lol

Great video. Thanks for such awesome tips. Qq. Can I roll/brush paint in the back instead of spraying it?? Right at the end I mean. Thanks.
Yes, you can.

Thank you so much for not rushing through the steps! You are a very good teacher😊
Thank you! Sometimes I need to remember to keep it slow!
Mara, can you do raised stencils on mirror? thanks for this video
April Chavez I probably would not do that. Because it’s behind the glass, it wouldn’t really show. You could do it on the outside of the glass though.
Rave Home Staging Thanks that’s what I meant. Would I need to prime the mirror first so the clay would stick?
If I did my stencil in white would I need to use white on the last step where you sprayed the brown all over. I hope that makes sense. Your project is beautiful
No. That really has to do with what you want to see behind the reflective surface. A dark color is usually better.
@@VintageBeeDesign Thank you so much for getting back to me. 💖
You are very welcome. I apologize it took so long! I usually try to answer the same day, but it’s been a little crazy.

Qq- have u done anythg similar on mirror?
I haven’t because I don’t have any to strip the back off
Thx so much ... amazing
Please what did you used the vinegar for
The vinegar sort of breaks up the paint, creating small speckles and texture.
Amazing!
Thank you!!
Amazing.
Thank you! This piece I kept. I’m still in love with it.
Beautiful
Thank you I appreciate you watching.
So beautiful! Have you ever used a sanding block to kind of distress the stencil? I am wondering how that would work.
I have not. I’m sure you could. You could also use alcohol to spritz and distress.
Very pretty look. It would have been more helpful to see the process if you'd lifted up the doors after each application.
This was one of my first videos. I think I’ve gotten better .
Lovely💓
Thank you!
Nice What is your ratio of vinegar to alcohol? Looks like fun
They are in different bottles, so it’s really just what you like.

Bonnie Criscione-Brown is it smoked glass, or fully opaque?

It is opaque black.

You certainly could do that, but I don’t think that would look “old”. Maybe I’ll try it on a future piece.
