I love your videos! They inspire me. I was taught by my mother to clean as I go and it makes such a difference. I am an empty nester now; just my husband and I. I do our dishes by hand as well even though we have a dishwasher. I grew up washing the dishes for my parents as we didn't have a dishwasher. You sure make everything look so easy. I bet you could cook in your sleep! I didn't see the Vitamin C recipe but would be interested in that concoction! Enjoy your weekend and as always thank you for sharing!!

Laura, I love making muffins for my kids too. They are a great way to serve them things like pumpkin, zucchini, bananas, and apples all in a snack form. They are great to freeze and have as a grab-and-go.

When it comes to white potatoes, I never ever peel them. There is so much nutrition & flavor in the skins.Not peeling them saves time as well. I will acknowledge some people don't care for the skin of potatoes, but in our household, we love them.
What this young woman who is the mother to a large family accomplishes daily ......Wow. And that sun porch.....absolutely love it. Beautiful home, beautiful family.
By the way, I have loved washing dishes by hand my entire life & I'm 75. Just something about it !

I loathe cleaning the waffle iron too! Whyyy do my kids love them so much? 😩 It’s the pockets that hold all the buttery syrup…and while I get it, I still despise the clean up 😂 I made sourdough pumpkin pancakes and they were amazing! I may need to try pumpkin waffles next!

I also appreciate you explaining the name of your channel! it's kinda unusual and I kept dwelling on what exactly it meant. kind of a long story, but back in the day when we were raising kids living and working on a cattle ranch we had a neighboring ranch family named the Oliers. (OH lee eh, it's French) and people always pronounced their name wrong and called them the Oilers 🤣 so I had a brief moment when I first found your channel thinking it might be your family name! I've actually often tried a couple of the recipes you've mentioned in your videos...such as the one for beef tips and gravy which you used stewing meat for! Anyway, I'm a mama to an almost two year old boy, and I love homemaking and doing things as natural and from scratch as I can. I have the same waffle iron and the same love/hate relationship with it! Our family LOVES waffles. I HATE cleaning it. Solution: make a 6x batch of sourdough waffles, make a ton of waffles for the freezer. Pull them out as needed and toast them. It is perfect!

I have a round flippy type of waffle iron, I just use a soapy sponge first to wipe it and then a clean damp cloth to wipe it down.
I understand doing clean up as you go, yet I think filling the sink with hot soapy water would be easier that squirting each item. When you make waffles have the kids help, make enough to freeze into the future. My husband harvested acorns and made flour which he has made into acorn waffle mix and we always have these made up in the freezer. So make a batch now and one for later. Also good for snacks, the kids can heat in toaster.
So funny! I'm the total opposite with waffles and pancakes. I never make pancakes. It's super tedious, takes forever, and I'd much rather make waffles. Or even better-Dutch babies that are done in the oven. Maybe I'm not cleaning my waffle iron correctly, but mine doesn't seem to be an issue.

I thought I better clarify Laura…I don’t know if I said this right but any chicken bones from dinner were trashed not boiled…lol…the Costco chicken bones I boiled for chicken stock were from the leftover chicken from dinner not eaten and I picked the meat off bones and it was those bones I boiled. The chicken stock came out really good. Thanks for all your encouragement Laura…

Use a pastry brush to wash the waffle iron. Just dip brush in soapy water...wash then rinse with brush and clean water. Piece of cake!
You are a blessing to your family Laura. I boiled off chicken bones today from dinner for broth in my Dutch oven. I need to get an instant pot. It smelled so good I plan to make a chicken pot pie tomorrow. Love your videos!!!

What do you use as a bleach substitute? My sink is an older style made of…porcelain, maybe?? It gets so discolored and dingy looking every few days, and the only thing that I’ve found to whiten it back up is bleach, which I’d rather not use. But nothing else is working. 😕 Thoughts?

I was brought up eating a sandwich for lunch when I was little and that may have been bc I went to school each day. Anyhow, just wondering if you had a big lunch bc you had soccer that night. That may have been the reason. Our big meal of the day was always for dinner at 5ish.
Put piece of foil under your waffle iron. Keeps batter off counter but not waffle maker. LOL.

If you get a waffle iron that has removable trays you can dishwasher them. That's what I did, I hated cleaning it so I never made them either till I found the removable ones now I make often!
They have waffle irons with removable trays?? I had no idea…..off to do a google search and order one!! ☀️☀️☀️
@@marigoldsky3799 oh yes, they pop right out. They have metal clips to hold them in place so they can be removed. It is awesome. I will feature it in an upcoming video doing waffles 😊

Also realizing how true the fat thing is… my 3 year old is naturally skinny and some of her favorite foods are butter, cream cheese, and peanut butter😂😂 if I put them on anything, she licks them off and then asks for more.

You are an amazing mom and wife for your family. I really need to get an insta-pot. Who knew you could cook an entire pumpkin in one.
