Thanks for sharing 👍 Please kindly help Pig Rearing farmers to clarify the issue of Synide on the first outer layer of the cassava tuber. Is it harmful to the Pigs or not? Dick S.Johnson, Pig Breeder in Waterloo in the Western Area Rural District in Sierra Leone,West Africa.
The purpose of soaking the cassava tuber for 3 - 5 days is simple, Soaking of cassava provides a suitably larger medium for fermentation and allows for greater extraction of the soluble cyanide. Soaking removes about 20 percent of the free cyanide in fresh root chips within the first four hours. The cyanide in raw cassava tuber reaches a consumable level after soaking in water for three days.
If you feel like it's taken more than 1 week, it can be taken out of the water, drained, sun dried, grinded and mixed with your other feed composition in the appropriate proportion.
Thanks for the idea sharing for the peoples.
Most welcome
