Thank you for the kind comments, this is my daughter.. she was a bit sad because of all her performances of this dance this year, this was her most rocky. She blanked for a moment and had to improv a good portion of her choreo - it took away from her performance as it is normally more powerful and emotional. Like I told her, be proud that you made it through and didn't give up. It wasn't her best, but it could have been far worse. Thank you for the support, I know it would mean a lot to her.
shes so charming! i love the expression on her face when it says feet above the ground. im tired of girls who look giddy while theyre dancing LYRICAL!! come on! congrats emma!
@SassyDolls1 3rd place is amazing!!! We love seeing your studio and enjoy watching your dances, you are a very talented studio as well. Hope to see y'all again soon!
@ChaosInAGlassCage What a wonderfully sweet thing to say... this would touch her heart so much and I'll be sure to share with her. I was so proud of my baby girl for letting go when she knew she made a mistake - forget about the win, the competition or even perfection..... just dance and just be you. I'm so glad you could see through the mistakes and that her passion came through anyway :).
@discofreestylerjess Thank you! Yes, Emma had recently turned 10 prior to this competition - however she competed 9 as most competitions in America use the January 1st rule - your age category placement is based on how old you are as of January 1st of that same year (so Emma 9). Some competitions use your age AT the time of the competition, but it seems more do it the other way. Emma did attend one competition that based it on your actual age at the time of the comp, however she was still 9.
@suthey1 oh ok, thank you for explaining! she did really really well for improving a lot of that out of the blue! I've forgotten a portion of a solo on stage before and it's a terrible feeling, she looks like she handled it like a pro
@danceismylife99 Hi there! Emma just turned 10, but this past year competed as a 9 year old! Thank you for your sweet words, she appreciates your kind comments so much!
@ballarinamom1 Emma loves you too Haley!!!! YOU are a beautiful dancer and we love watching you too. Can't wait to see you this year somewhere... XOXO!
@dancefreak1025 @dancefreak1025 I wish you could see it dance the way it's intended... she came out of a turn and ended up blanking, had to improv a good portion of her solo choreography and as a result, was really panicked... her emotion was not as powerful as it normally is and it didn't build as usual because she was literally thinking about what steps she could do instead. She was proud to get thru it being only 9, but like you, wish she could have given it everything emotionally.
@SassyDolls1 Hi.. about your comment, you said.. "I always visit them at competition." - what did you mean? Did you mean visit our studio? Were you at Hall of Fame? I'm assuming you must dance at some of the same competitions, but your name isn't familiar. Emma won 1st overall at this comp and was awarded Hall of Fame Inductee for Junior Solos. We see you are 10 also from your TH-cam page but don't remember you, so just curious where you saw us?
how old is she? she's such a talented dancer, really good. most lyrical solos bore me, but this one was amazing!! I'm 12 and I can't do all the turns she does. she's really good!!
@suthey1 you said she was competing as a nine year old when she was ten, are you allowed to do that at theese comps? Im from England and they are VERY strict about catergories lol! she did amazing by the way and a very talented young dancer :)
maybe it's because I love this song and expected a lot out of someone dancing to it but she just didn't have enough power for me. she completed all the technical aspects very well but I was left wanting more.
Congrats Emma on being selected as one of the top 10 Best Dancers at The Dance Awards in NYC! We are so so so proud of you!!!!
