Man. I want to say thank you for being a voice of reason in a world of toxic rhetoric and blatant mind control. We seem to share many of the same mindsets regarding consumerism, anti capitalism, government control, media bias and propaganda, and likely much more. For the longest time I felt like there was soo few people who "got it". I've been called soo many ridiculous names by people who don't even understand the words they use. It's beyond frustrating living in these times. So thank you once again, for being a voice of reason. One who seems capable of cutting through the bullsh!t and getting to the meat of the matter, with clear and concise words. You truly are carving yourself quite the niche in this planet we are all condemned to. I just wish more people took it seriously.
Filming Animal Flow. Let me set the scene. It’s a cold gloomy British February. A great start to any tale. I’ve been sitting on this track Animal Flow for about a month, it has this tribal rolling drum sound, reminiscent of early Kanye production (you’re allowed to say his name again now he said sorry after watching 21 Jump Street) I’ve got this annoying problem where if I’ve created something challenging to create the next thing has to be even more challenging to pull off. We’d just finished filming a series of one take videos for the Sick Boi album, they were a bitch to film, because if anything goes wrong in a shot with only one continuous take all the way through, you have to start again. I love that challenge. It forces my performance to be engaging for the entire piece. If a tiny thing goes wrong you have to start again. I sadistically really enjoy the frustration of the entire crew when we shout CUT and have to start the whole bloody thing again. Their little faces sinking into despair fills me with a little warm fuzzy feeling inside every time. “FROM THE TOP! ACTION!” I decided I wanted to make the most ambitious one take video yet. Throw in as many moving parts and as many people into the mix as I could, and even add a little dance choreography. This was before my music had ‘taken off’ and I’d just left my current management, I was pretty broke, so I also had to pull this off with no money. That made it even more exciting. My friend Benny had this apartment that he bought off my Spanish friend Raffa. The parties in this flat were pretty legendary and appropriately full of debauchery The hallway to the apartment looked like something out of a Kubrick film, and I instantly knew I had to film there. I kept thinking of the movie Eyes Wide Shut. I asked Benny what he thought about me turning his apartment into a jungle. He smiled, he agreed. Me, Benny and a few friends headed out into a cold February night in the early hours of the morning dressed in black, with some gardening shears, a hatchet, and some bin bags. We spent hours hacking at overhanging weeds, ivy, whatever we could find, filling up bin bags. What I didn’t know, but found out during the Texas plant massacre is that Benny used to be a botanist. He told me the Latin names for each of the plants we mercilessly shoved inside the bin bags. What we definitely didn’t do for legal reasons was borrow some unusual looking exotic plants from a botanical garden at 1am. We returned to the apartment and spent the remainder of the night Covering the walls in plants. Ivy - or to use its Latin name - Hedera Hibernica - looks great parcel taped to a white wall. We then created a makeshift torture rack out of a clothes rail, painted the bathroom in faux blood, and filled the bathtub with red jelly, naturally. The whole apartment took a few days to totally transform into a magic mushroom Orwellian fever dream, it was perfect. I had acquired about 80 latex animal masks and a gorilla suit from amazon, and acquired about 80 friends and friends of friends insane enough to agree to take part in the shoot. What ensued was hours of pure chaos, an apartment hall littered in people in latex animal masks while horrified looking neighbours walked passed. You’d walk out into the hallway and see a man in a wedding dress with an ostrich mask riding a lowrider BMX over the carpet. Walk into another room and people in Dog masks playing poker were doing shots of tequila and smoking menthol cigarettes. Everything was going exactly as I intended Somehow, during the chaos, we managed to film a music video. Sure it was about 4am when we got the final take, and we’d started filming at about 7pm, but that’s not the point, we got the shot. My friends left, scarred and broken shells of who they used to be, and I left with one hell of a music video. Animal Flow drops at 8pm GMT on Thursday I hope to see you all here for the Premier!

What is amazing is my 20 yr old son is away at college and hadn't heard of Ren. I texted him the links for Hi Ren and Money Game 1&2 and he was stunned. Stunned at how much he loved it but even more so that his Mom turned him on to it. He's a music lover, especially rap and can't believe none of his friends had heard Ren. Can we just appreciate that this video was done with virtually no budget, from a friend's flat (and communal areas) that they had 'decorated' with vegetation and graffiti, with a cast of about 30 unpaid friends (I counted 31 excluding Ren and the cameraman, but not sure if any of them played different characters - probably not as it was a single take)? This kind of video would have cost a label a six figure sum to produce and probably would not have been as authentic.

I just feel like Ren is creating his own universe, on one hand the universe of all of us that loves his music and his creations (like videos) on the other hand a universe he shows us in his videos. What made me feel like this was that I think the pig cutting up the meat in this video is the same pig that wheeled Ren in in “Hi Ren!”. CNN tried to pre-entivily paint him in a bad light because hey got wind of the fact he just drops truth bombs that everyone else is too afraid to touch with a 10 foot pole, calling everything and everyone out for what it is, and with their long list of wrong doings, they're really scared. If that doesn't show just the level of opening people's eyes and minds to everything wrong in the world, to the point that big corporations are scared of that and try to take control of the narrative, I don't know what does. He started a whole movement, and we're marching behind him.

Im 53 and a rocker, professional drummer...i am so into Ren. Ive been turning everyone on to him...starting with Hi Ren and let them go from there. CHALK OUTLINES w/ Chinchilla is probably my favorite song that has been released in the last decade.

I am about to be 67 years old, and this is the most exciting new talent to come forth in a long time. Ren is the creator of a new music/rap genre, and it has the power to hunt down your soul and impact you in unexpected ways. As a former mental health professional, I see his music expressing his story, which is a particularly troubling variation on the lives of so many people who struggle with mental health issues. His music hurts me in a way that makes me grow. I can't say that about anyone else in the current music scene. Ren, if you see this, you are a genius, and I am glad I have lived to see what is just the start of a career that will change the world for those who really listen to it. Out of pain, you have crafted perfection.
I'm also 67 and have worked all my adult life in the music biz...mostly behind-the-scenes in the indie scene. I'm still heavily involved, and still committed to it. Having lived through two fantastic leaps in music I can know it hasn't moved musically and production-wise over the past two decades. Ren is doing something so innovative and original that it gives me hope he can push both indie and mainstream music forward. The bonus is that he's bringing social consciousness into what he's up to, and people are responding on that level too. I wasn't sure I was ever going to see anyone like Ren emerge within the next 30 years I have left in music and beyond.
I grew up in the '60's and felt a sense of hope back then that was quickly squashed by "the powers that be." And now Ren comes along, and I'm starting to smile again.🤠 Can't wait for the premiere...

I noticed this with Mia Morris. she was getting big after being on AGT Her monthely listeners went from around 16000 down to 11,000. Now we have that fixed in the past 3 months and they are up to 46,000 they are doing the same with her youtube so yeah Ren have a lot more then showing but yeah they are going to hold him back

Ren's someone who other artists should be learning from. Finally gets recognition that he deserves, starts blowing up, stays humble and true to himself. It's great to see someone who's not a puppet for the industry, know what's actually going on in this planet, not scared to speak the truth and has massive talent.
Ren is far from the only one, or the first, or the last; he isn't even the only famous artist doing it in the current day, so I'm not sure I get your angle exactly. There have been, and always will be, artists who do what they want. Even in times of great oppression throughout history, there were artistic individuals who used their creativity as they willed; some even paid the ultimate price for it. That said, mostly agreed, Ren is great!

Was watching CliffBeats' reaction and it made me think: I almost feel like the emphasis on being 'The Cannibal King' is a potential triple. Obviously it's an allegory or metaphor for the message of the video, but the overall vibe of Animal Farm and such makes me think... Cannibals are technically those who eat members of the same species. But in Animal Farm, the ending is all about how we're all animals. Animals eating animals is, in a way, cannibalism. But that's surface level metaphor, and I feel it can go even further. If a Cannibal is someone who eats the flesh of others of the same species, then it begs the question: What is Ren? Beyond just 'Human,' Ren is an artist, a performer. From various breakdowns, I know by this point a lot of Rappers especially will talk about 'eating up' their competition. Man. I want to say thank you for being a voice of reason in a world of toxic rhetoric and blatant mind control. We seem to share many of the same mindsets regarding consumerism, anti capitalism, government control, media bias and propaganda, and likely much more. For the longest time I felt like there was soo few people who "got it". I've been called soo many ridiculous names by people who don't even understand the words they use. It's beyond frustrating living in these times. So thank you once again, for being a voice of reason. One who seems capable of cutting through the bullsh!t and getting to the meat of the matter, with clear and concise words. You truly are carving yourself quite the niche in this planet we are all condemned to. I just wish more people took it seriously.
Filming Animal Flow.
Let me set the scene.
It’s a cold gloomy British February.
A great start to any tale.
I’ve been sitting on this track Animal Flow for about a month, it has this tribal rolling drum sound, reminiscent of early Kanye production (you’re allowed to say his name again now he said sorry after watching 21 Jump Street)
I’ve got this annoying problem where if I’ve created something challenging to create the next thing has to be even more challenging to pull off. We’d just finished filming a series of one take videos for the Sick Boi album, they were a bitch to film, because if anything goes wrong in a shot with only one continuous take all the way through, you have to start again. I love that challenge. It forces my performance to be engaging for the entire piece. If a tiny thing goes wrong you have to start again. I sadistically really enjoy the frustration of the entire crew when we shout CUT and have to start the whole bloody thing again. Their little faces sinking into despair fills me with a little warm fuzzy feeling inside every time. “FROM THE TOP! ACTION!”
I decided I wanted to make the most ambitious one take video yet. Throw in as many moving parts and as many people into the mix as I could, and even add a little dance choreography. This was before my music had ‘taken off’ and I’d just left my current management, I was pretty broke, so I also had to pull this off with no money. That made it even more exciting.
My friend Benny had this apartment that he bought off my Spanish friend Raffa. The parties in this flat were pretty legendary and appropriately full of debauchery
The hallway to the apartment looked like something out of a Kubrick film, and I instantly knew I had to film there.
I kept thinking of the movie Eyes Wide Shut.
I asked Benny what he thought about me turning his apartment into a jungle. He smiled, he agreed.
Me, Benny and a few friends headed out into a cold February night in the early hours of the morning dressed in black, with some gardening shears, a hatchet, and some bin bags.
We spent hours hacking at overhanging weeds, ivy, whatever we could find, filling up bin bags. What I didn’t know, but found out during the Texas plant massacre is that Benny used to be a botanist. He told me the Latin names for each of the plants we mercilessly shoved inside the bin bags. What we definitely didn’t do for legal reasons was borrow some unusual looking exotic plants from a botanical garden at 1am.
We returned to the apartment and spent the remainder of the night Covering the walls in plants.
Ivy - or to use its Latin name - Hedera Hibernica - looks great parcel taped to a white wall.
We then created a makeshift torture rack out of a clothes rail, painted the bathroom in faux blood, and filled the bathtub with red jelly, naturally.
The whole apartment took a few days to totally transform into a magic mushroom Orwellian fever dream, it was perfect.
I had acquired about 80 latex animal masks and a gorilla suit from amazon, and acquired about 80 friends and friends of friends insane enough to agree to take part in the shoot.
What ensued was hours of pure chaos, an apartment hall littered in people in latex animal masks while horrified looking neighbours walked passed. You’d walk out into the hallway and see a man in a wedding dress with an ostrich mask riding a lowrider BMX over the carpet. Walk into another room and people in Dog masks playing poker were doing shots of tequila and smoking menthol cigarettes. Everything was going exactly as I intended
Somehow, during the chaos, we managed to film a music video.
Sure it was about 4am when we got the final take, and we’d started filming at about 7pm, but that’s not the point, we got the shot.
My friends left, scarred and broken shells of who they used to be, and I left with one hell of a music video.

Can we just appreciate that this video was done with virtually no budget, from a friend's flat (and communal areas) that they had 'decorated' with vegetation and graffiti, with a cast of about 30 unpaid friends (I counted 31 excluding Ren and the cameraman, but not sure if any of them played different characters - probably not as it was a single take)? This kind of video would have cost a label a six figure sum to produce and probably would not have been as authentic.

This is such a grower. Liked it first listen, progressively gets better as i notice more genius nuances.
I am about to be 67 years old, and this is the most exciting new talent to come forth in a long time. Ren is the creator of a new music/rap genre, and it has the power to hunt down your soul and impact you in unexpected ways. As a former mental health professional, I see his music expressing his story, which is a particularly troubling variation on the lives of so many people who struggle with mental health issues. His music hurts me in a way that makes me grow. I can't say that about anyone else in the current music scene. Ren, if you see this, you are a genius, and I am glad I have lived to see what is just the start of a career that will change the world for those who really listen to it. Out of pain, you have crafted perfection.

I'm also 67 and have worked all my adult life in the music biz...mostly behind-the-scenes in the indie scene. I'm still heavily involved, and still committed to it. Having lived through two fantastic leaps in music I can know it hasn't moved musically and production-wise over the past two decades. Ren is doing something so innovative and original that it gives me hope he can push both indie and mainstream music forward. The bonus is that he's bringing social consciousness into what he's up to, and people are responding on that level too. I wasn't sure I was ever going to see anyone like Ren emerge within the next 30 years I have left in music and beyond.
I grew up in the '60's and felt a sense of hope back then that was quickly squashed by "the powers that be." And now Ren comes along, and I'm starting to smile again.🤠 Can't wait for the premiere...

I noticed this with Mia Morris. she was getting big after being on AGT Her monthely listeners went from around 16000 down to 11,000. Now we have that fixed in the past 3 months and they are up to 46,000 they are doing the same with her youtube so yeah Ren have a lot more then showing but yeah they are going to hold him back

Ren is far from the only one, or the first, or the last; he isn't even the only famous artist doing it in the current day, so I'm not sure I get your angle exactly. There have been, and always will be, artists who do what they want. Even in times of great oppression throughout history, there were artistic individuals who used their creativity as they willed; some even paid the ultimate price for it.
That said, mostly agreed, Ren is great!

Was watching CliffBeats' reaction and it made me think:
I almost feel like the emphasis on being 'The Cannibal King' is a potential triple. Obviously it's an allegory or metaphor for the message of the video, but the overall vibe of Animal Farm and such makes me think...
Cannibals are technically those who eat members of the same species. But in Animal Farm, the ending is all about how we're all animals.
Animals eating animals is, in a way, cannibalism.
But that's surface level metaphor, and I feel it can go even further. If a Cannibal is someone who eats the flesh of others of the same species, then it begs the question: What is Ren?
Beyond just 'Human,' Ren is an artist, a performer. From various breakdowns, I know by this point a lot of Rappers especially will talk about 'eating up' their competition. They'll also talk about devouring the beat or flow or such, etc.
But if a Rapper is 'eating up' another Rapper, that's 'Cannibalism.' Except in this case, it could be taken to include *every* form of artist and performance, simply because Ren's talents are so widespread and versatile.
Oh, shit. It also could even go back to The Hunger. As he gets older, the more he feels the hunger, etc, the hunger for more, to do more, achieve more, produce more, etc.
This makes it a message about the nature of people to harm themselves for their own benefit, but also a boast of how Ren is at the top right now, how he's on the rise and going against him will just 'get you eaten up' as it were.
