I remember thinking halfway though the set, I'll bet that our rural wifi reduces this broadcast to about 4 pixels/second, ha. Glad you enjoyed it, thank you! I'm going to make this a scheduled weekly live set: cast your vote for when, Mon-Sat?
Hey Max, sad I missed the stream, but it's a pleasure to listen to you as always. I got a question: would you be willing to write out sheet music for After Hours? Kind regards, Pjotr
Hi Pjotr & Piotr! Thank you; I'm glad you enjoyed the set. When lifting Booker's "After Hours" and "Learning the Blues" improvisations by ear, I thought about making them my next transcription projects. I think I'll do just that! Cheers.
Taking a tally of votes here for a regular day, Mon-Sat; thoughts? I'm looking forward to playing weekly, live, and hopefully in improved resolution. Cheers.
Why are you so in a hurry when you play Bethena ? This masterpiece was written by Joplin shortly after the death of his wife. It is full of tenderness and nostalgic memories. You can hear it as the story of a life. Beside Joplin called it a "concert waltz",you should give each note its proper time to be enjoyed.
Since you asked, a few factors: the jitters that go along with returning to public performance; gradual change from almost two decades of playing it; and, quite mostly, caffeine. I share your admiration for the thoughtful construction of this piece. Thanks for listening.
I'm beginning a live weekly set! Cast your vote here in the comments for a regular day, Monday-Saturday.
I vote Mondays!
Saturday evening
Great stream, I'm looking forward for another stream
Great show, thank you!! Could you play any ragtime by Vincent M. Johnson on the next show? I love the album you made together!
Ah, after Cassette Session we get 56kbps Session. Great stuff, looking forward to the series!

@@maxkeenlyside I live in Europe, so I am going to rely on the recordings (which I appreciate).

I disagree with you period the tempo was wonderful and the performance the best I've heard since dick Hyman's in the 70s
