I buy omnis to have a definitive version of a story. Between Uncanny X-Men spines having the wrong image, badly cropped images, and spines not matching up, it seems like Marvel doesn’t care as much about quality control any longer. They haven’t even given consumers any recourse for these errors. I think I’m going to be much more selective with what omnis I buy from Marvel from now on.
Totally agree 💯. Because the imak books are of such a bad quality I have actually skipped buying books I have wanted but I'm not going to pay that amount of money for a poorly made book
Ironically they've given recourse once before. They DID apparently send out replacement 300-issue covers for those who got the DM of Spiderman by Micheline and McFarlane.. problem is, you had to contact your distributer, and *know* they were doing this.....and they did not send emails out or anything, so you had to know about it, and be early enough to get those printed replacement DM covers, with the original art.....so I kind of missed that way back when...
They kind of did the same thing with Fantastic Four Hickman Omni reprints. The logos at the bottom of the spine were not at the same height. Pissed me off
This omnibus is peak Marvel. It is the type of book you read and enjoy and then after you’ve read it it keeps popping into your mind again and again. It becomes a compulsion to think about it. So many great moments. So many great plot points and plot twists. And it’s done honestly. Non of this contrived plot nonsense. It’s among my favourite stories in any medium ever. I do prefer the original cover. That picture is epic. This story is epic. This book is epic. Pick it up for sure.
Marvel sends the files to the printers and they print them. It's all formated before the printer even looks at it. They have no creative control. This is squarely on Marvel's shoulders.
We need a Bendis Avengers Omni! Or a series of Omnis with his writing combining New Avengers, Secret War, Secret Invasion, Mighty Avengers, Dark Avengers, Siege, and Avengers.
Preordered this ages ago, can’t wait to get it so I can finally read the first volume and secret wars OHC. I went back and forth about shelf order before volume 1, pre and post secret wars but I decided on alphabetical in the end, separating OHCs from Omnis.
Ahh Looking forward to picking this up. The paper thiness and misaligned spines don't really bother me but the smell is another thing entirely. I would have sworn I could smell the Imak when you were leafing through the pages but then I realised it was my Thunderbolts Vol 3 from across the room...sigh😐😑😔. Nevertheless I am thrilled to finally be able to own this Vol 2 after wanting to read this complete run as it was meant to be read.
Marvel made a decision to sell the omnibus with this problem, even with the delays. When I got this book and saw the spines, it made me think - why am I spending so much money on an omnibus given how expensive everything else is, such as groceries, gas, and so on. And looking at the comments, I can see many people are disappointed with Marvel as well.
Love this story, sadly missing this one from my collection. I do have the first one though! I am a huge fan of the Secret Wars 2015 stuff I really hope that they are going to release that in omni. Atm I have it standing Alphabetical, but I am probably going to put it together with the Fantastic 4 soon (next time I re-organize my comics), since I also have the whole Annihilation saga standing together instead of all Alphabetical.
I think the gutter loss is maybe worse than the A spine alignment. I have new printing of the standard cover. Haven’t read yet, just finished Vol 1 and really enjoyed it.
Normally really happy to see an Omni reprint. It beats paying those insanely overpriced eBay scalpers. But l think, for the first time the QC contained (or not!) in this reprint give looking for an earlier printing some merit. I can understand these (relatively) minor issues (spine alignment, gutter loss) not being a major issue to people who want to read it. And of course it's personal choice. But for myself, at this price point it just seems unfair to throw this out and make no attempt to put it right. I just think in this case they (Marvel) really dropped the ball. It's a real shame they were prepared to release this.
Man, its just weird knowing that this will probably be one of the best selling omnis of the year and such a simple mistake got through. Happy to get it because... Secret Wars but still, this is embarrassing Is there an etsy shop for custom omni dust jackets? I know its gonna annoy me when I see it in my collection (plus my DD by Miller shipped with a crunched spine
I couldn’t care less about the A, though in general I do think QC with Marvel books has maybe dropped a bit too low. At this point I wish the would maybe up the price $25 a book and use that money to improve quality a bit.
The originals look better with the blue print and the A lining up. Super sloppy amateur work when it comes to the detail department on the new books. It dosnt pop with the black color text n of course the casually misplaced Avengers logo. On my predators omni the spine wasnt even cropped propley as well n it spills over onto the front. Its complete amateur hour over there per usual.
So, I would be very pist if I read this amazing run for the first time, and it ends with this huge cliff hanger, like a cliffhanger that makes AVENGERS INFINITY WAR look small, and there is no in print OHC of SECRET WARS 2015. MARVEL don't make me wait till the movies to do it!
That new eye is so small! Plus the poor reprint of the dustjacket is very disappointing. I’m interested to see how the Mega Printer fares with their product as I was very satisfied with their Deadpool Cable omni.
Wow, the spine, eye, and binding look terrible compared to the old one. Alas, still a great price for all those issues in oversized form at $65 or whatever. Hopefully the tightness/gutter curve dip after a few reads.
So, the new printing has thinner paper, bland colours, more gutter loss, and the logos on the dust jacket still don't align. Heh. Marvel doesn't seem to want to improve. As always, big THANKS for the re-review and comparison, Omar!!
Avengers World #1-5 are co-written by Hickman, #6 features a group of characters created by Hickman, and #17-21 serve as a prelude to the Time Runs Out event. I believe the rest of the issues are pretty much their own thing.
Sorry, but I don't think I can justify spending this type of money on a sub-standard product. More gutter loss, smaller eye, spine misalignment, thinner pages. Nah. I have around 6 omni's on pre-order. I'll be cancelling all but my Peter David omnis of X-factor vol 3, Maestro and Hulk Vol 5. With the cost of everything else these days it isn't worth it if Marvel isn't gonna put there best foot forward. I know these issues don't bother a lot of people and more power to you. To each his own.
Omar, please ask that Marvel address IMAK's quality. 3 of my recent omnibus purchases have had printing burns inside the pages. 2 of those I didn't notice until I was reading them, which is long past the return window. I found one today right upon opening as I stretched the spine. Printing burns that disrupt speech bubbles AND interior art is unacceptable. While I understand Marvel is likely in contract with IMAK, if I have to be worried every single omni is printed with interior burns I can't buy them anymore. I'm not wasting $75+ each month on damaged books. I need Vol 2 to complete the set but I'm nervous it's going to have issues, too.
Watch out Marvel! DC is coming for you! With their incomplete lines of collected editions, missing issues in books and one omnibus a month. All because of one book. Let's get real. That's about their only competitor at this point and they aren't anywhere close to sales. Before anyone says how books like So I got turned into a slime in a dungeon manga outsells books like this, please tell me how much the publisher actually makes after the license and translations.

I cannot buy this omni because of how the spines are!!! This and the change to the uncanny Xmen font is just unforgivable in my opinion. Marvel please stop doing this to your collectors!! Now I need to pay such a premium for the first edition to get the proper spines.
True it doesn't matter, but it's a really stupid mistake to have been made when it wasn't like that before and something they could have fixed if people were paying attention.
