Worked there from 1989 to 1992 in the administration building, 2nd floor. I ran a call center in a mahogany suite with a private bathroom, heavy wool carpeting and long, thick gold velvet drapes over the windows. The suite had huge windows and was in the corner of the building overlooking a small wooded area. We are 100% certain it was George Romney's office. The Powertrain team was developing the Viper V10 and built about 6 new dynamometers on the west side of the building. The entire back of the building was being leased to Borman Foods as a warehouse. All that food storage caused massive rat problems throughout the plant. The exterminator used Dinty Moore Beef Stew on his traps and had a burlap bag of dead rats across his shoulder. Across the street was an awesome blues bar called the Blue Note. We had many Friday afternoon staff meetings over there over cold beer and the best ribs imaginable. Fun times.

I worked there 1995 - 1996. With Jeep and truck product development at this site, it was the economic engine of Chrysler.

Looks wide open! That's something that strikes me as crazy since I've moved here, all these BIG places not boarded up at all... something like this in Seattle would be sealed up tight!

This is sad. I look at the ruins of this and many other plants and think about all of the people that worked there. Proud people who wanted to build a quality product. These people had a good life and contributed to society by raising and educating their families. However, this all came to an end when corruption took over the management of these organizations, and their respective unions.

What a waste 😔 looks like good bones…maybe some investors can make it into luxury apartments! I’ve watched videos of people that renovate mansions in worse condition than this(at least I think, can’t tell by not being there) shame to see it demolished 😔

No such thing as “American motor company” AMC stands for “American Motors Corporation”
