One thing to remember is wifi operates on 2.4 gig as well, sometimes it can cancel out you tranmitter, thats why i never use it, prefering to put my own 5.8gig sytem in.
My control for the x8w was set to limit transmission range so make sure to change that. If when you put your controller on an the range symbol on the top left blinks then you're in low range mode. Check "Steve Haresign" on how to change it.

If the FPV camera and android app are not great should I just get the syma x8c? I hope to have this long enough to mount a sj6000 on sometime soon but thought the FPV camera was good. +Alberto Leone for any type of battery you can get them from Hobby King website or Amazon. i cant remember the battery but [retty sure it was a 2000 mah. make sure you get other batteries with the same connection as yours. it can be confusing.
as an X8w owner maself ... wish i got the X8c back in the days lol ... the stock cam of the X8w make's the quad crash becaus it works on 2.4Ghz just like the quad it'self does so... ^^ the newer X8g has a nice stock cam ..not fpv but the best among the toy grade quads

take things in small steps, keep the aircraft in close to you (with in 20 feet) and practice take off and landing by slowly raising and lowering the throttle. the wind is always tricky but just know the direction of the wind, then fly into it and not with it. flying across the wind is also helpful. baby steps, man, baby steps crawl before you walk :P

thats normal, this has no way to hover in place, especially in wind. the only thing the Propeller guards do other than protect the props, is add weight, lowering battery life. they also are an additional area for wind to grab on to
you can get upgraded batteries and should I take the prop gaurds off of mine while I'm learning to fly it or shouldi level them on I had some narly where the blades cut some grass in the backyard

If you wanted to shoot nice videos with a toy quad, buy the SYMA X8G! It is the same drone as the X8W, with a HUGE difference. It DOES NOT have FPV, but instead gets a 1028 P, 30 FPS camera! It even has an option to do 720 P video, with 60 FPS.

+BlackCat2 The better camera version is the X8G which is a bit more but worth it if you ask anyone who has reviewed it. For FPV get something not wifi, 5.8 GHZ is the way to go there.

How of you go in to headless mode? Mine don't seem to go on headless mode no matter how long I hold that left button.

TheMighty Thor The X8G is not FPV, just a nice camera quad with 12 to 15 minute flight times which you have a better option already.

Does the propellers guards affect the hovering? I got one about 2 days ago and I can't get it to hover and it keeps drifting.
thats normal, this has no way to hover in place, especially in wind. the only thing the Propeller guards do other than protect the props, is add weight, lowering battery life. they also are an additional area for wind to grab on to

you are not going to get something like that for Under 70.00
Balance the props, modify the camera mount and video will be much better as far as the vibrations.
