Israel is one of my most favorite countries in Eurovision. There are only very few songs I dislike (Sameach is one of those I like). I don't like only 1988, 1995, 2006, 2013 and 2020. Otherwise Israel is amazing! Love to Israel from Serbia.❤
So many great songs from Israel.....i love Rak Bishvilo, Feker Libi, I Feel Alive, Golden Boy, Diva, even Time but for me the most iconic and timeless entry from Israel is Hallelujah..........fabulously, simplistic song but stands the test of time brilliantly.......well done Milk And Honey...epic!!👏👏
It's soooo difficult to choose only one of all that great songs (mostly sung in the greatest language) from Israel: Ilanit, Izhar Cohen (still love Chedva Amrani from 1978 and think it would had win also the contest), Milk & Honey, Ofra Haza, Dana International, Shiri Maimon, Boaz Mauda, Harel Skaat, Moran Mazor, Mei Finegold, Nadav Guedj, Hovi Star, Netta... But in the end i would choose Boaz.
great israel, my favorites are the handsome male cute ,etc etc BOAZ , the band was there in 2012, and the last singer eurovision 2019, great voice,, thanks guys you really are so cute
my favorite song is haleluya , and Amen song also, God bless you all, don't forgot god and Jesus blessing all of us and we are just try to spread this love around the word. for me it's the most important target of eurovision .
I vote for my favourite winner of the 10's. It's still a mystery for me how the hell Netta received all that hate after the win in 2018. To me this song contains everything that Eurovision winner should: it's an upbeat song, it's extremely cheerful, fun, it's a very big risk, there's a great mix of genres which all make sense (even clucking, chicken is actually part of Israeli culture or something like that). There's a great message presented in such a funny way without anger and aggression. The performer is so charismatic and charming. I just can't see any single downside here! Bravo Israel, what a deserved winner. I'm so glad that Eurovision public got it absolutely right (1st place by the televoting, 317 pts, 64 points ahead of 2nd!) despite this song was quite divisive already then.
I agree with most of your reasoning, except it troubles me that she felt the need to tear down men with her song. I'm still okay with her winning, because she was better than the competition, but it wasn't flawless.
@@NerdilyDone Of course, if it was a serious song with the same lyrics it would be a very angry and agressive one. But the main moment is the song is cheerful, fun and not serious. So, overall it's a usual feminism, not the radical one. So, there's no problem.
Chicken is a part of the israeli culture? No man, sounds like someone was kidding with you or something...maybe its a part of KFC lol but great comment otherwise
My favorite entry has to be Diva, it's iconic, it's catchy and still very popular today especially between LGBTQ people in Israel (like me) Other honorable mentions have to go to Milim (because I love Harel), Sheket shenisar (Shiri was ROBBED) and Happy birthday (weird choice but hey, I grew up with that song and it's still a must in every birthday so..) Nice knowledge of Hebrew words! 7:24 he's singing the chorus in a made up language and basically says "I love you"
Unsure how true this is but I read that the Israeli entrant in 1988 only agreed to participate after consulting a fortune teller who said that the winning song that year would perform 9th in the running order. When the running order was determined & Israel were drawn to perform 9th, Yardena agreed to take part. When Cyprus withdrew it altered the running order meaning that Israel ended up performing 8th & that Switzerland would perform 9th........represented by an unknown singer named Celine Dion!
For the first time and maybe because I live in israel, I really can't choose! There are so many fantastic songs (2008, 2009, 2014 and of course the songs you mentioned).
nice job guys. Have to admit you are VERY forgiving, though. There are great songs here, but a LOT of truly almost unlistenable stuff. I'm especially loving more recent tries, with "Golden Boy", "I Feel Alive", "Made Of Stars", and of course "Toy" are some of the best songs of the whole contest. But I honestly can't deny Dana, the first Eurovision song i actually purchased (on a British import single at the Tower Records in NYC), as my winner. And OMG "Happy" and "Push the Button" are on the level of "Irlande Douze Points". Hugs guys. 2sc (e)
Time has a psychedelic 60s vibe that I enjoy. I'm surprised by the lack of love for Liora. I think it's a great anthem. Did Harel Skaat not do well because he messed up the live performance? Because the studio version of Milim is one of the best songs I ever heard. I prefer Izhar Cohen's 1985 entry to his winning one. I could listen to Kan all day long. Agree with all the other obvious picks.
So... Now you say that Kobi could have done better with the song but when I said that after the song was selected you almost slaughtered me in the comments 😜 Anyhoo, I also rejoined the ESC family because of Toy but my favorite song has to be Golden Boy. The songs up for selection this year are well below the standard of last year, unfortunately. I would love to see Eden Alene do well but I think she'll be lucky to reach the middle of the table with any of the songs. On the other hand, Keiino have a great song up for selection in the Norwegian finals 👍.
Did we? We are sorry if you feel that way! We always said from the beginning that we had a special feeling towards Kobi as a singer, and whilst we love him and his voice, we were well aware that it probably wasn't going to do that well in the competition. Had he brought his other song 'Yalla Bye' to ESC it would have been a different story!
Liora was really robbed during her year. They refused to let her use her setting, which included like... tons and tons of candles, due to fire safety concerns. The look would have put her over the top for sure. Considering the pyrotechnics these days, it all sounds so ridiculous. Gotta say, I'm loving the guy on the left cringing at just the right bits... lol
Fun fact #1 - Israel is the only participant to have not compete in the year following a win Fun fact #2 - 'Hakol Over Habibi' were offered both "A-Ba-Ni-Bi" and "Hallelujah" but they declined...
I haven't voted yet, but there is a message that I did it. Is it some technical problem? Anyone ever had that? Please help, Hovi has to get that one vote :D xd
So 1980 not really need to be here. The fact that israel wil not compete was known before the submission to the national festival( witch this song won number 1) so this song never intend to be in Eurovision

My top 10:
1: 1978 (Izhar Cohen)
2: 1979 (Milk & Honey)
3: 1983 (Ofra Haza)
4: 1991 (Duo Datz)
