    I can't really see J Kidd bringing Klay in and not starting him. The dude is not a parking cone on D like most people keep saying...mostly Golden State fans kicking rocks. Klay still has solid cardio and people saying he was "off" last year and had a "down" year but still shot 39%. The only real question is will he finish games and I'm not sure he will. It will more than likely be Luka, Kyrie, PJ, Naji and Lively closing games. People thinking Klay is washed are going to find out very quickly that he still has some solid ball left in him.

      He's still a good player but I don't think starter worthy, he shot the ball much better off the bench last season than as a starter and he's too inconsistent to be relied on as a closer

      I watched every Warriors game last year and Klay's defense last year was bad. He tends to put his hands up but not move his feet, only gets rebounds that come his way, classic 'we'll just outscore them' player. He has excellent shooting form but can't create his own shot and needs to get to the free throw line or take shorter 2s more than he does. I feel like the fit is way better for the Mavs who have better front court defenders and are only paying Klay 1/3rd of Klay's GSW salary and can match Curry's gravity with LuKyrie. I've watched Jason Kidd play ever since he was in high school and Kidd's game was all about moving your feet, super-motor, I'm hoping he can impart some of that into Klay...

      I think Klay is good in 2nd and 3rd quarters when Luka need to rest and team in past season can't hold the advantage. Probably with Klay situation will be different cause he can speed up the game and put some open shots when opponents are tired guarding Luka and Kyrie. We'll see

      it's always someone else's fault...what the f does wigs have to do with Klay. everyone is fighting his own fight. klay fumbled, overplayed his hand. klay went to dallas out of spite. guess what, spite wont give him his health or his youth back. I know that, cause Klay for the better part of 2 years had all the spite in the world, especially after Barkley called him out on national television- and guess what, all that spite and Klay still went 0-10 in the play ins.

    Mavs vs Warriors will probably be a good must watch game for the following season.
    That being said, the warriors could end up making Curry go on a Kobe route, basically going solo and adding some good role players. But seeing how Kobe's Lakers after Shaq ended up (only with 2 titles), I hope Curry can at least get one decent season and gain a 5th ring sometime soon.

    Pj going off on OKC wasn’t a one time thing. Dude scored over 40 on them before we made that trade. Hes done it three different times before the Mavs traded for him. He shot 38% from 3 for his first two seasons and even better in college at Kentucky. So dude isn’t a random shooter. He did what good role players do, each series sees one role players stand up.

    He used to be an elite defender before his injury and I think he´s still above average on most possessions on the perimeter. If you consider him being the replacement of Josh Green then it´s an upgrade even though I liked Green and his potential upside. Marshall replacing DJJ as a stronger but less athletic wing with better offensive skills should also be a slight upgrade. Grimes for the inconsistent THJ is probably the biggest upgrade

    Averaging 18 pts a season is not a bad season. That's a very good season. Just because it wasn't the higher numbers that he was getting doesn't mean anything about his game. Many factors involved. He played less, he came off the bench, he wasn't happy. Klay will get his chance this coming season to show the world what he has left and I'll be rooting for him every game! Let's Go Mavs!

    I do think Having Klay as Sixth man is probably the best solution but I also think offensively you get the most playing Klay next to Kyrie and Luka as much as possible ...If they play a 9 man rotation Naji and PJ will have to play some four so its really just a matter of lineups...I can see a Trade coming in again mid season the way Nico is rolling...Maxi and Hardy are kind of out the rotation(I see Exum in front of Jaden) so maybe those two and a third player go to round out the roster a bit cause I actually think we are a bit too deep and Hardy is getting wasted

    Nah, I don’t see how it works. You can’t have Kyrie, Luka, and Klay as your primary perimeter defenders to close out games.
    I’m sorry, but that just isn’t going to work. Klay is not a good defender after his injuries. Luka just got embarrassed for his defense in the finals. The only person who plays good defense when he really locks in is Kyrie, but you’ll lose his offensive output on the other end if he’s trying to lockdown the other teams best player all game.
    I don’t see it working.

    • @dundalis
      @dundalis 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Doesn’t matter. Dallas defense metrically was elite regardless of Luka and Kyries defense or lack of it, post trade deadline. Peoples eye test about Lukas defense is irrelevant since Dallas still had an elite defensive rating vs Boston. Dallas offensive rating will skyrocket while the number 1 NBA defense the last 30 games isn’t going to fall off a cliff just because of Klay. Also it will be one of PJ, Marshall or Grimes doing the main POA defensive work not Kyrie or Luka or Klay.
      People keep referencing eye test stuff with analysing the Mavs defense, but the metrics don’t lie. The Mavs have the best end to end paint defense in the league with the Lively and Gafford combo which is the bed rock of their defense now, and that will be even better next season as Lively improves and Gafford has a full season to gel

    If this is going to work for Klay and for the Mavs they will have to accept that his role has to be smaller than they are both probably thinking. If watching him shoot the dubs out of so many games showed me anything last season it's that his legs are gone and that has had so many impacts on his game and he is yet to really adjust even more than 3 years after the injuries.
    Obviously the lateral quickness is gone so not only can he no longer defend on the perimeter as well as he used to he's not even average out there anymore. Especially against the quicker guards and wings in the league these days h's BBQ every time. Offensively he can't get as much separation as he used to when coming off picks and screens, the lack of juice in his legs has affected the consistency of his jump shot too. Overall to his game he's not moving off ball nearly as much or as quickly when he does.
    And that is all just the physical ramifications that are obvious. Mentally he presses these days more than he ever has hit shot selection is perhaps the worst it as ever been relative to his ability to consistently make them. He was even trying to flash some drive and dribble and floaters the last couple of seasons that never a even a small part of his game. He's been playing for himself for years now trying to prove he can still be the player he thinks he is because his prime was taken away from him.
    If he just accepted that he is who he is I think he'd be much happier and find more success on the court in a smaller role. Yeah he's going to get probably the most wide open shots he ever has on the Mavs but will he be happy with basically just being a spot up shooter? Eventually I think Kidd and team will have little choice but to bring him off the bench and play him less minutes.

    • @vantianhergheligiu12

      I feel it was hard for him to accept that on the warriors. Besides his personal thoughts i would believe the media, fans, everybody looked at him to be the number 2 after Steph. Ad when he didn't deliver he would try even harder to find that place he was before the injuries.
      New team, I don't think he'll have the same shitty shot selection unless neither Luka or Kyrie plays.

    I don’t know why it’s a hot take for the Mavs to bench Klay regarding defense as if Luka’s defense isn’t atrocious. When I mention this to people their number 1 reply is Luka’s offensive production. I immediately ask how many #3 options you know average 17-20 points per game? That means Luka will average 32, Kyrie 22 and Klay 17-20. Therefore- with limited reasons for Luka to score so much, why isn’t he held to higher standard of defense when he clearly doesn’t have to do as much. Dallas will go nowhere if everyone continues to have to guard for Luka and this will affect people wanting to play with Luka.

    • @Smido83
      @Smido83 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Dallas had the No1 defense for the last 20 games of the reg season... thats not possible if Luka is so bad on defense. Same in the PO. Dallas did hold every team they played well under their reg Season ORtg. Just as an Example: Celtics in the reg Season: ORtg 124, 1st PO round 120, 2nd PO round 121, ECF 123, Finals 112... not counting the blowout Dallas win, still 116.5 in the 4 Boston wins.
      All that with Luka playing 40+ minutes. So stop the cap about Luka being a coam on defense. Luka will never be an All Defense level PoA defender, and thats ok. But he is a good team defender and for stretches can hold his own in the post and in Iso situations. Not to mention he was injured basically the entire PO run.
      And we just got Thompson, who had a longer and higher contract offer from the Lakers, but did choose Dallas and Luka over that. So much for "noone wants to play with Luka". Sorry, but you arent a Mavs fan. Not sure you even watched a game untill the Finals. So take that Mavs Logo out, noone is buying this crap.

      That means he’s asking this guy for effort. Which we all question because he argues with the refs, don’t hustle up the court because he’s arguing, then he makes stupid fouls and start arguing about the no call on the other end.
      For instance, he took a stupid blocking foul in the finals against the Celtics, knowing he had 5 fouls. Of course he fouled out on that play. Next, The highest blow-by percentage allowed on drives in a series in the last 10 years (minimum 10 drives defended per game):

      Hence why we signed Marshall and traded for Grimes...

      You act like we got rid of 2014 Kawhi brother. We’ll be ok, we were top 5 in defense the entire 2nd half of the season/playoffs. And guess how much minutes DJJ played every game, 20

      Grimes was literally one of the best POA defenders in the league his second season? What are you talking about? Also Marshall has played elite defense on just about every great perimeter offensive creator in the league

      Mavs defense got a lot better when Lively got healthy and Gafford got traded. DJJ played very well(as someone mentioned 20 minutes a game) but common man there's a reason the Mavs got him o a minimum. And it's not cause he's prime Kawahi.

    Are Warriors fans so ridiculously butthurt that they are making up memes like “Klank” as if Klay is now a terrible shooter cause of one play in game? There are levels to being sad and pathetic and this is down the bottom lol
