    So, Benu. I'm not really into the bling all that much, like you. Not really my aesthetic. But I really wanted to support them when the Ukraine war started and they closed down and left to Armenia, and I wanted retailers to keep supporting them, so I went to our local shop and found one of the less flashy options: the Benu Euphoria Jazz. It is one of my all time favorite pens. The Schmidt nib is a wonderful, wet, flowing writer. The colors (blue with gold flecks) evoke the Ukrainian Flag. I just love it. It stays inked up and in my EDC pen roll while others rotate in and out.
    Thanks for this review. I'm interested in some of the other models to maybe introduce my kids to the fountain pen world. The Talisman line is fascinating.

    Since your Euphoria review, I purchased a Euphoria in a finish that makes my soul happy. I like just carrying it around and staring at it. Doesn't take much light to make it glow, either. Lovely pens! Thanks for this review.

    This exact pen is on my wish list!!! I have 3 Benu pens…I’ve become a huge fan! BTW, there are a few Canadian retailers who are starting to carry Benu. I bought my Euphoria last year from a store in B.C. Anyway, I enjoyed the review…not seen others for the Edelweiss yet. It helped me want to get it so much more! Thank you!

    I also have a Benu Euphoria in Bourbon, nib. (It's your fault, Kerry!) That was my first and I am eyeing a Talisman in Firefox plus a Euphoria in Jazz. I bet the one you have on order is a nib, amirite? I would love to see a comparison of all three, especially if the one on order is a third style you haven't tried yet.
    My favorite nib is a narrow stub, and I might consider buying one of Goulet's #6 replacement nibs in a stub.

    I bought a Benu Talisman a few months go. Mine does not glow in the dark, but a TH-cam I watched said the pen worked best if I wore garlic around my neck. I love the pen. No dry starts, holds a good bit of ink, feels good in my hands, writes smoothly with or without hte garlic. It does everything a good fountain pen should do. And it looks cool. I'm retired but am sorry I did not have this pen show in the office. It would certainly draw attention. Anyhoo, couldn't agree more with this review.

    I would be curious to see a comparison. I don't have a Benu yet but I'm thinking one of the Talisman models would be run.

    I have a Bossy Chameleon which is less flashy than the other Chameleons and I like it. That models doesn't have the glittery stuff, only the flip colours and some small spots that reflect light like tiny blue LEDs. I'm still considering buying the Talisman Dragon Blood as I like the combination of green and blood red.

    I had two Benu Fountain pens, one was a cigar type with black and silver glitter and glow-in-the- dark blue resin ends and crystal base that Also Glowed Blue in the dark...I gave that to my niece...was gorgeous. The other I miss, a transparent Emerald Green with silver flaking and a New Year's Special with date and limited edition number...I gave that to my neighbor who was born on New Year's Day as a Birthday gift...I still miss it, it wrote very well!!!

    I love my BENU pens too. The one change I would wish for is a slightly larger grip diameter, but I can adapt. I really like every Schmidt nib I have (YStudio uses them also) and never see this as a negative as some people do

    I had a Benu, the nib was a number 5 and looked ridiculous on the big pen.
    My dog thought it was a crunchy treat and chewed it up. Ouch.

    Have you used anything like a F Lamy Al Star? I ask in comparison of wetness, I find that reasonable for a variety of random papers, vs anything wetter really requires better paper.

    Just a small note, this pen doesn't glow in the dark - as far as I know, none of their current Talisman pens do (edit: a couple do, but the Edelweiss is not one of them!). Each pen is however infused with the thing it is named after. While I don't believe there is anything special about it, and Benu is nice and clear in making no claims of magicalness, it is a really special touch that I haven't seen before. I have a Talisman Edelweiss too, and I love it and would absolutely recommend it.

      I have the Talisman Shooting Star and the ends do glow in the dark. Mine is infused with meteorite powder.

    • @CelestialVeggie
      @CelestialVeggie 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@stevekail4543 Firstly, that sounds amazing. Secondly, it looks like that one's a retailer exclusive, so I think it's just none of their standard ones that Benu sell directly that are glow in the dark. Thankfully Benu make it clear in their descriptions when their pens are glow in the dark.

    • @PensandTea
      @PensandTea  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It may not officially be a glow-in-the-dark one, but if I turn off the lights it definitely illuminates

      The Talisman Mandrake is a standard offering that is officially glow in the dark . I have the Edelweiss and the Dragon's Blood and love them both.

    • @CelestialVeggie
      @CelestialVeggie 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@marilyngardner4269 Ah, you're right! I used the filter on Benu's own website and it shows none are glow pens, but if you go to the Mandrake description it does say glow in the dark. That's a sneaky mistake. With that said, the Edelweiss one definitely isn't supposed to glow in the dark, as it's not in the description and mine certainly didn't when I just tried.

    I have this pen with a fine nib. Absolutely love it. My favourite in my collection. Looks great and writes so beautifully and reliably for me. I prefer it to the euphoria and the luminous blue. I have both of them with a medium nib and just find the Talisman nib size, nib width and grip feels more comfortable in my hand.

    I really like the foxglove talisman in particular, but the name of the edelweiss is really interesting to me as the edelweiss flower was the symbol of the edelweiss pirates who were an anti Nazi youth group. The edelweiss flower also looks quite odd-from the photos I've seen it almost looks like it has fur lol.

    I’m an American, and when I was a kid, my mom had a Chrysler with a digital speedometer. I used to really enjoy pranking her by covertly hitting the button that switched the reading from miles per hour to kilometers per hour.

    I don’t mean to nit-pick and I wouldn’t question your integrity, but you did indeed get paid for this. You got a $165 in the form of a pen. I imagine that if you hadn’t liked this pen and gave it a bad review, your chances of getting anymore from this place would be slim to none (although the chances of getting a Benu pen you don’t like are very high). I wish people would just say that yes, I am being paid to review this, use your own judgement accordingly.
    Sorry, I really do look forward to your reviews. I love your honesty and your book collection! As well as your pens of course. I’ve purchased a Benu already because of you, lol. The Hallowed harvest Euphoria and I’ll probably have to get this one as well. 😂

    Benu FPs are not “flashy;” they are GAUDY. Like Kerry, I also have the Benu Euphoria Bourbon, and am exceptionally pleased with it. I also have two other Benu models, one with an F nib. I prefer the ones with the M nibs. Benu was previously located in Moscow, but since Putin began his war with Ukraine, Benu is moving or has moved to Armenia to dissociate themselves from his policies.

    • @ZiaLinkZen

      Good to hear that BENU is not affiliated with Putin and another vote for M nib. I had this pen with M nib in my cart, ready to purchase (from the Pencast place ; ) then decided to veer over to the Iridescent Lmtd Ed Kaweco for now. You and P/T are tempting me again, tho. PS - I have the Shin-kai ink (nice blu/blk) but I would load up this beauty with my Aurora Borealis from Diamine ✍ Thanks to both of you!

    I love Benu pens and your reviews about them, which are always informative and fun. I currently have 3 Benu pens--2 Euphorias and 1 Briolette. The Briolette is in the luminous amber resin and is supposed to glow in the dark, but it doesn't. I have it sitting out in the light all day but still no glow in the dark. Am I doing something wrong? No biggie. I still love it anyway.
