Ding playing bughouse chess just a few hours after losing the championship seems like he is not as disappointed with the loss as everyone expects him to be .
Leko and Naroditsky were saying a few moves prior that while it was looking dangerous, every other game in a similar position had ended in a draw. Well, first time for everything I guess.
Actually, you are wrong about Naroditsky. Before Ding made that move, Naroditsky talked about that very move, and suggested that Gukesh should NOT trade rooks! Then when Ding made the actual move, the eval bar went south. leko was surprised and was still figuring out why, when Naroditsky shouted out the moves (did he have engines to help--maybe, but it is true that until the eval bar went south, he had other ideas about this same move!) So nly Super GMS like magnus, Hikaru etc can figure out in the same time frame as the players on the board.
@@woosterjeeves They didn't all recognize it straight away because you never expect a world champion to make such a blunder. Ding/Gukesh are supposed to be the best in the world. The very first rule of chess endgames - "all rook endgames are drawn". I don't think people understand how elementary the position after the pieces traded are - in a basic endgame course you should find out that a backward connected pawn (two pawns) vs a single pawn wins if you have the opposition. Ding used several minutes to come up with this move. I assure you Tarrasch is rolling in his grave and Dvoretsky is on (sui) (cide) watch.
@Anonymous-g2s Ah, but that does not explain why Naroditsky was mentioning responses to the Ding "blunder" before Ding had made the move. You can check out the live stream---as I said, Naroditsky was mentioning Gukesh's options in a ponteital Ding move (that move he had not played yet!), and how Gukesh should NOT trade rooks in that position--he pointed out other rook moves instead. So we have to admit, it is the eval bar God that helps them there. Sure Ding blundered, but the point is that many GMs and IMs could not see the blunder without the eval bar to help them. That is just amusing--not some heresy that should be covered up.

@@Unknown_34566 That's an excuse. There's no way a GM would miss his own position in a classical game. He was not in time trouble too. He 100% wanted to lose because he was in depression before. He said chess stressed him so much and becoming the world champion means he has to focus more on chess. I am happy for him that he got out of this for his own mental health but I hope the chess world will not bash him for his decision. That would only makes him more depressed.

Where do hikaru livestream ??
Most streams on kick.com/gmhikaru and some on www.twitch.tv/gmhikaru -- the editor

Also Kick, which I thought he's also streaming on Twitch too.
