I know you have been feeling down for a while about your prolonged reading slump. And I just wanted to let you know... I have been through this too, and one thing that I realized is... my reading style changed, and I was grieving my old style. I used to read like 7-10 books a month.... and one year, I just couldn't do that anymore. I felt like it was a slump and that I "didn't like reading as much as I used to" and that made me really sad. But then I realized it had nothing to do with how much I liked reading... I just didn't like reading THAT MANY books anymore. I suddenly felt more of a drive to sink my teeth into a novel for a long period of time... read it slowly and live in the novel for a while. Once I realized this, and my perspective on my "so called slump" changed... it helped me realize that it wasn't a slump, and it wasn't that i didn't like my hobby anymore... it was that the way I engaged with my hobby just changed... Im so much more at peace with reading now...
I love this! I have been going through something similar, though I think I was always a slow reader. I’m so tired of fast readers telling me it’s not a race because they will just never understand, so this is a very refreshing perspective. I hope I can also find fun in reading again because reading has felt like a chore recently especially seeing people on Goodreads reading 200+ books a year. I know this comment wasn’t directed at me but being a slow reader has taken me out of the books I’m reading and out of having fun with reading. So thank you for commenting this ❤
@@carolinesromancereads I am a slow reader too. There were times I was reading audiobooks faster than I wanted... because i felt like i wanted to get a certain amount of books read... and then i was like, what am i doing?!? I read Strange the Dreamer recently... and before I started it, I gave myself permission to read it slow... like really slow. Before, I would have felt anxious halfway through.. or "bored" when in reality, it wasn't boredom i was feeling, it was impatience. my impatience stemmed from my need to read more books. When i decided to slowly read Strange, and allow myself the time... i really loved the process so much more.
@@jackietea8772 I really want to read that! I have it on my shelves. I’m an impatient person a lot of the time so that could be what it is for me. Will definitely give myself permission to slow down, thank you! 💖 Quality over quantity, as they say.
I love your vlogs Jodie, they’re so cosy and authentic. I realise I’m late to the party with this question but what are the noodles you made? They look yummy
Suburban hell was such a fun time but it is set in the summer… also it’s actually super freaking creepy at times! Oh I love the pumpkin wax melt you found at the charity shop! So cute 🎃
when u talked about your fav movies for halloween/autumn I had the idea that maybe u could do a video or include it in a vlog or something where u talk about ur fav/comfort shows/movies for autumn/halloween?
I said it on a previous vlog too, but my favorite Halloween read so far has been “The book of Witching” by CJ Cooke. It’s so beautifully atmospheric with an incredibly poignantly told story.
You've just popped up on my feed and I'm loving your books and vibe looking forward to watching some more today whilst I'm resting up! 🤗 I was just looking at the Novels of Infernal Devices yesterday and thinking I need to finish that series before I forget everything haha! 😅
Jodie I am so sorry for missing your last month of videos on your brilliant channel and I am so glad that I am able to be back love ❤️ your Aussie family friend John ❤❤❤I am sad to say that I have lost my mom due too cancer as well ❤❤❤
Your shelves make mine look awful 😂, you have so many gorgeous editions. Where did you get that Twilight edition? I love that cover 😍. Thanks for your content and have a lovely day 😊

I cant believe Twilight (the book) will be out for 20 years in 2025. I was 16 when it first came out. I re-read the books every other year or so.
