    One of my favorite sounds of the S1000 is when it shifts!

      By far my favorite inline 4.

    Thanks man, appreciate it. I do think the S1000RR sound stands out because of it. I'll be turning out more videos once I get some peeps to do some pulls, or when I can come up with something entertaining.

    Great video. I have a 2012 also with the same exhaust, k&n race filter, and a PCV. It's dyno tuned and setup. But you are still gonna get flames. The bike sounds amazing.

      @SW20AE86  11 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks a lot man. Im still in love with this exhaust. I got a PCV and a custom map from Evan Steel Performance. I thought it was smooth before, but now its silky. Quite a bit more midrange too. Sadly a little less fire.

      Yes same here. are you in SoCal? if you are it would be amazing to get our bikes on video running the canyon together. blowing out peoples ear drums left and right... hahaha i have a couple videos of mine running on Ortega. its under my boys channel. Nikola Smith. mines the tri-color motorrad one. in the new vid he posted today it has mine revving and a short clip of it running with speedo and tach in it.

    Nice :) I've been doing some research into full exhaust systems as I'm thinking of getting an S1000R, and according to BMW, if you get the full Akra system from them they update the map, isn't that the case with the RR? Or am I missing something?

    • @SW20AE86
      @SW20AE86  11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Holy Moly! THE RoyalJordanian, thanks for stopping by, its an honor.
      To answer your question. What most people do after a full exhaust install on the S1000RR is install either a Dynojet PCV or Bazazz. Their is also a new option called the Bren Tuning Ecu.
      An ecu flash is the most costly option as you need a HP4 race ecu to do so, which is very costly.
      Some have great luck (like me) and the bike runs great without anything. Mine did as the stock ecu (learns) through the stock O2 sensors and will tune itself from 0-9000rpm. Beyond that the stock map is somewhat rich so it is fine with a new exhaust in most cases.
      Since you are in the UK don't discount Austin Racing as an exhaust option. They are one of the favorites for the S1, and are UK based.

    • @royaljordanian
      @royaljordanian 11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      SW20AE86 Thanks for the info. I'm aware of the PCV's etc... I have one on my Nuda. But what intrigues me on the S1000R accessory PDF, is that the Full Akra Titanium system comes with a special map, and I quote: Special data release for engine control unit. Enabling by means of enabling code in the diagnostic system (by authorised BMW Motorrad dealers only). So that means I don't have to go through the hassle of fitting a PCV. Will check the Austin Racing option, Cheers :)

    • @SW20AE86
      @SW20AE86  11 ปีที่แล้ว

      RoyalJordanian No problem bud. I look forward to see your choice: S1000R or Super Duke 1290. Make sure to post the test ride video. I'll probably be able to test ride the BMW, but no KTM dealer near me.

    • @adrenalineboyzryan
      @adrenalineboyzryan 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      To actually answer your question, no you don't need a power commander. The bike will tune itself to that exhaust setup.

    • @SW20AE86
      @SW20AE86  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      adrenalineboyzryan See above. It is not that simple, and RJ already has a PCV on his Nuda so he already knows this aspect. Thanks for trying to discredit my answer though with your "to actually answer your question".

    Had to comment on your videos in defense of the Hondas lol. I've owned both a highly modded 2013 BMW and a 2013 10r, and on mr12 my zx10 made 200.3 whp, but you just can't beat the BMW for the overall street package. My BMW made 194 whp on pump, and my best friend had a fully modded and flashed 2013 also which had a carpenter racing head installed and made 210 whp on pump gas! He didn't tune for mr12 but it would have made 220 whp we think.
    Yes the BMW is fast as hell and would eat 90% of the Hondas up, but if you really mod and gear a CBR and tune it for mr12 or E-85 you won't believe what they can put down.. They are the absolute hardest pulling bikes in mid range but with race fuel they can easily pull a BMW down the straight. My 08 CBR was my all time favorite bike for what it was and for what was out at the time there was not a single bike that could perform like the CBR. Anyway just wanted to defend the Hondas for all the hate they get lol. I spend so much useless time arguing on TH-cam because I haven't had a bike in 8 months :(

    • @SW20AE86
      @SW20AE86  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, thanks for stopping by homie. Despite what it seems. I don't hate or dislike any bikes. I even agree with you that the CBR's are the kings of midrange, and no doubt with more intensive mods they'll open up on top.

    would you recommend the full evo shorty system? i can't decide between this or the AR GP2 full inconel system...your thoughts?
    choosing the best system for this bike has been a huge headache....soo many choices...

    • @SW20AE86
      @SW20AE86  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would absolutely recommend it, and at the same time I've heard fantastic things about all of Austin Racings lineup.
      One drawback with these short exhausts vs the longer can versions is they do yield a little less hp typically. Still makes more power than stock and the sound is a huge bonus for me over the long can setups.

  • @ChiefKandiyohi

    I apologize if this is a dumb question... but how do you shift so quickly? Is that something stock on the bike or aftermarket? Just curious. BTW Sounds like a beast!

    • @SW20AE86
      @SW20AE86  10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not a dumb question at all. The S1000RR comes with a quickshifter as an option. It allows you to upshift without pulling in the clutch or even letting off the gas. Thanks.

    I got a 2013 with the full titanium akrapovick power commander v secondary module k&n filter ceramic bearings and stm slipped clutch my map is way off something is wrong I going to take it for a new custom map next month

    • @SW20AE86
      @SW20AE86  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Make sure to double check your fuel injector plugs from where the power commander plugs into them. I've heard a few guys have them not snapped in all the way. Same with plug on the bottom of the fuel tank. Good luck on your new tune. I'm still running on the ESP map.

    • @torobololo

      Good looking out I know by facts something is wrong she limited @ 175 mph she supposed to be pushing over 190 mph

    • @SW20AE86
      @SW20AE86  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      luis grullon Yeah, bone stock I could hit the 186 mph on the speedo, and the revs kept pulling. With those mods you should def be doing over 190, just keep in mind the speedometer will only ever show a max of 186mph/299kph even when the revs keep climbing.

    • @torobololo
      @torobololo 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      I try last summer I push it for almost 4.5 miles and she struggle going over 175 I feel the bike pulling but I know something is wrong all this happen after the dyno run

    • @adrenalineboyzryan
      @adrenalineboyzryan 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      You do realize that you don't need to install a power commander and mess with the mapping because the bike will tune itself to that pipe...........

  • @amapolishplummer

    I was just wondering is there any difference in sound between the full shorty exhaust and the normal full exhaust with either the carbon tip or full carbon silencer?
    Cheers.

    • @SW20AE86
      @SW20AE86  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well. Sound level is very different between long and short cans. For one the Full shorty does not come with a silencer. So it's loud 100% of the time.
      The full system with a long can is damn near stock sounding with the silencer in, and not much louder with the silencer out.
      A happy medium between the two would be a Taylor Made system, which looks pretty cool too. As for me #loudpipesforlife so it was either Akrapovic or Austin Racing.

    • @amapolishplummer
      @amapolishplummer 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      SW20AE86 Shorty for me as well!
      Just checking as I'm going to learn to ride soon, going from Ninja 300 to R6 and the hopefully S1000RR. I hope I can make the progress from Ninja 300 to S1000RR in less then 4 years and was fantasizing what exhaust I should get for the S1000RR and the R6 (Even though I don't think you can get a short exhaust for the R6 as it's short already?).
      Thanks anyway man.

    • @SW20AE86
      @SW20AE86  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      amapolishplummer No problem. I've heard the Ninja 300 is an awesome bike to learn on, and plenty quick to have fun for a while. On the R6 like most japanese bikes, you have tons of options including short can exhausts. Good luck on your start to motorcycles.

      Got a question for you. How did you get the exhaust note so clearly without hearing a hurricane wind noise? I am either buying a Go Pro or an ION camera, but I want to hear the bike, not wind.

    • @SW20AE86
      @SW20AE86  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      adrenalineboyzryan Well, I used the open back attachment on the gopro, but I stuffed a sliver of a paper towel over the mic to cut down on the wind noise. As you can see it worked pretty well,

    • @adrenalineboyzryan
      @adrenalineboyzryan 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      SW20AE86 yeah that worked perfectly! I was looking into getting a go pro very soon but wasnt sure if you needed an external mic and like hide it under the seat to kill the wind noise or not. Some use them and some dont. Thanks for the input.

    • @SW20AE86
      @SW20AE86  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I use mine about 90% of the time. From my experience, as long as you are giving it throttle and shifting quickly it works great. When I've shifted without much force, or been too easy on the throttle is when it does not engage.

      @SW20AE86  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you get the Akra slip on, and later the link pipe (cat delete) It will be just about as loud as mine (full evo). "Too loud" is a matter of preference. I find mine just fine for me, but I've always been a fan of loud exhausts.

    Hey buddy I have a question for ya, So i wanna get a full system, So when I talk to BMW people they are saying that i meed a fuel manegment system as well 'cos the servo is gone. cost is like 3k!!!! so if I get the full system do i need to do anything extra or just install and ride without messing up the computer? thanks man

    • @SW20AE86
      @SW20AE86  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did not *need* any kind of fuel controller, but getting one will net you more power. All you do with the servos when adding an exhaust is unhook the cables, I left the servos on the bike so as to not throw any codes. You must be careful to not spin the servos when unhooking the cables too.

      This bike has never been on the dyno. I do have a Dynojet PCV with an Evan Steel Performance map on it. I will say from being active on the S1000RR forums it seems the norm after getting a custom map tuned on a dyno that 4-8 horsepower is about the norm to gain with a PCV or Bazzaz.
