The story goes like this. Andre was the founder of RHG, it started out as a friendly, good sportsmanship competition, stick fighters all over the land would travel around and if they happened to encounter one another, they would challenge each other to a duel, as well as make good friends along the way. This was like the golden age of stick fighting, but as time went on in the real world, the animators that were responsible for creating the OG characters got tired of animating or didn't want to do it anymore. In GildedGuy's/the stickman universe this represents the competition going too far and those characters ended up getting killed. What started out as a friendly competition eventually turned into an event of bloodshed and murder. Andre had a lot of friends which were a lot of the OG's and when he saw what he created turn to something horrible, he sought to get rid of it, anything that was a reminder of the past. He destroyed all of the areas that hosted RHG except one and that was the one he met Gildedguy and the air bender. (I forgot his name, sorry) when they see what he's doing, they intervene. It's only until the aerial battle that he sees them working together amazingly that he realizes that there's still hope for RHG. The Crazy! thing is, is that I as well as many others believe that Andre is already dead! because right before he's about to stad Gildedguy, you see his body turn all decayed and his stomach is slashed open, and when he hits the ground there's no body, he somehow came back from the dead (I'm betting it was his hatred) in order complete his unfinished business it's only until he realizes that there's hope, he's finally able to move on, because RHG is still going on, it's up to the next generation to keep it from turning back into a bloodshed massacre. I'm still not sure what the red tear drop in his eyes stand for, someone else may have to inform you. But that's basically the long and short of it, I hoped to have answered all of your questions.

Most definitely! Me and my brother watched it since I was a teenager and my brother was way younger. Very much familiar with this, shoottt used to get on Stickpage and played games on there, talkin bout Rage 3, Kill Crazy Jay, Combat Tournament Legends, don’t get me started Qt gang!

frame at 5:53 where it shows Andre as a corpse, seeing how it explains him later just disappearing seemingly into nowhere at the end: he was never alive.
From the looks of it, Andre has been dead for quite a while, however, the pencil ended up reviving him, which would explain why he was so hellbent on keeping it in his hammer, even IF it was also boosting his power, it was also keeping him alive for just that little bit of time. It would appear, having come back to life, as others mentioned he's decided to destroy the arenas and legacy of RHG with his borrowed time, having realized the mistakes he'd made, and how many people had died from what he'd started.
This would also explain why the pencil seems to have had so much of it's juice used. We've seen Gilded fight in the past, and his actions don't really seem to have ever even made any visible dent on it's supply, but not only reviving but also potentially empowering a wholeass person? That would probably be a whole lot more energy-intensive than anything Gilded's ever used it for, admittedly.
Overall, it'll certainly be interesting to see what happens in the next animatic, since from the ending bit, I get a mighty feeling that the next animation might be the one where Gilded finally reaches his star, with only a small bit of juice left in his pencil and his armor very likely not in the best of states, it'll certainly be interesting to see what/who he has to face and how he'll deal with them in this situation where he's resources are more limited than ever.
it seems like Gildedguy has a little bit of the control half of the power. He can pull his armor back together once he focuses, and he can improve it's durability. It also probably helps make it lighter for him, so he can move without being over encumbered by the weight and can still use that weight to and more force behind his attacks. It can absorb some properties of attacks, like heat and lightning, giving his attacks that effect. And as seen in the fight with Oxob, energizing the armor also energizes Gild, which appears to amplify all of the above properties.
The main weaknesses seem to be; he can't control gold that's been broken off his armor, so it can be worn down; acquiring gold to maintain the armor is difficult given the value of the metal, and he can't use other metals; and he can only make the armor so tough, as it can still be broken even if he's completly focused.
Just adding the detail of the dad's power adds so much to his son's armor choice.
Nah the old man at the end is Andre, slipped away and lived a full life
