I've been running 8.5 as my go to cheap-run from the time it was released and while the spread is very inconsistent outside of 30 feet or so I will say this, one pellet to the face is instant death, and even better one blast to the stomach at super close range will also one tap someone. A lot of the upper tier armor doesn't protect the stomach so you can get really lucky.
DeadlySlob on more than one occasion has wiped 5 man squads on Tarkov with an empty gun, he threw a grenade on customs and killed Anton on woods, he was the first Canadian ever to fist fight a moose in space and win, nominated 9 times for a Woody award and inspired me to be a better murderer... so don't you go calling him a slut!
I'm pretty sure the disparity you're seeing against enemies with better gear dropping faster might be due to your engagement distance. At a certain range, your pellets are going to spread out enough to damage all of their external limbs with each shot. Each subsequent shot onto 4 blacked limbs is going to overflow from each limb into the head/thorax (which are also taking blunt damage the entire time). Due to the armor pen not being very good, shorter engagement distances will ensure the majority or all pellets are contacting armored areas and being absorbed more effectively.
In fact I get way more headshot with 12gauge Magnum, because it does 42 damage and any player not wearing glass protection is doomed. No need for leg meta with Magnum buckshot.
While my buckshot experience is mostly limited to random scav rounds, the one i remember the most is where ~900 damage was absorbed by a PMC's armor. It was pre wipe though and could easily have been a tier 5 or 6 armor.
Tighter and proper, other shotguns have broken spread (it literally goes everywhere around the target and nothing in the center). Saiga-12 is the best shotgun all things considered - and drum mags aren't that expensive either.
I’ve been using the saiga with the magnum buckshot recently and it was been dropping people very fast. It’s all about headshots. If you run into someone with a face shield you’re probably fucked because it takes so many hits to the legs and arms to finish someone. It’s rare to see people with faceshields however.
@@_ima_b "So many hits to the legs and arms to finish someone" - uhhh... under 30m it's literally 2 tap in the same leg, 3 tap if both legs... it's 352dmg per shot - after first leg is blacked shooting it again delivers fatal blow to the head.
Every barrel length has a different spread and muzzle velocity for slugs. You can change this on the MP-153 and 133, and that's what i've been doing. Longest barrel allows for short-to-mid-range engagements
6.5mm express is also an interesting buckshot, 9 pellets, highest muzzle velocity of all buckshots, +accuracy modifier, -recoil modifier, it definitely has the highest effective range out of all the game's buckshots.
In my experience, buckshot is best judged in terms of armor negation rather than armor penetration. For one thing, the spread of buckshot means you will likely hit multiple areas of an enemy's body with every shot, increasing the odds of blacking out a limb, or catching the face/head. Seccond, the high collective damage of the pellets will often shred the durability of any armor that is made of poor or even average quality materials.
flechette works extremely well against any armor/faceshield, but usually 2 shot people instead of 1 even if against unarmored target. For 12-gauge magnum I personally found muzzle brake helps a lot with the recoil.
Love Magnum shots, packs a huge punch, the massive wall of damage you could send downwards rapidly towards your enemies. Should be used more frequently on their legs.
Buckshots are tricky because the high pellet count ones can destroy armor very quickly, and even after one shot the chance to penetrate increases drastically,
There are a few moments where you can hear Deadly smile as he says magnum buckshot; because we all know it sounds like a cheap cologne. Thanks for the entertaining content!
one of the modifiers is the type of armor, not the level of it, the buckshot will affect ceramic armor differently than steel armor and so forth, spray is also a factor as well, the grouping of the buck expands a lot the further away your are where less shot will hit you
In that intro clip, if you came across a lone guy on top of those generators and wasted him - It was nice to meet you. I heard the three of you coming and saw you come in the building one after the other and knew I was fucked.
I ran into a 4-man team exit camping gate 3 exactly like that one on the 10th, same day you put this vid out. I wonder if its the same crew, we got some serial campers on our hands boys! Wicked job cleaning that squad up dude!
I'm still scratching my head on how weapon recoil translates to your head pulling up WAY more than the recoil of the weapon itself... Doesn't make any sense at all!
Magnum Buckshot has 44dmg per pellet and 8 pellets - if one of them hits face it's gg. If all pellets hit the same limb you deal 350dmg per hit - you literally 2 tap any PMC (and 3tap Killa) in the same leg. Stop hitting them in the chest - if first hit didn't kill them, they wear armor.
All shot shells are capable of eventually penetrating any class armor. Yes, even 20g (TOZ) shells. This is because of how Tarkov handles body armor durability. Any hit to armor, regardless of pen value and armor dmg%, will do a minimum of 1 durability dmg. Because shot shell have multiple projectiles and every projectile causes its own pen calculation, the armor durability goes down by at least the number of projectiles hit. This means that at close range you can zero out an armor relatively fast, as shot shells have up to 9 projectiles.
8.5 Buckshot is so good dude. I just dropped someone wearing Lvl 6 armor and an Exfil helmet from across the hall on customs by aiming at his pelvis. Do not underestimate this VERY dangerous round.
Buckshot is about armor negation more than penetration. The inherently high blunt damage means your enemies still take quite a bit of damage even when hit in armor, and the spread increases the odds of catching the enemy in the face or an exposed limb.
Using longer barrels on the 153 brings better accuracy and less split of the projectiles. Using a long barrel just go for the stomach and everyone got dropped within 2 shots. By having a distance bigger than 25m you will have the chance to black out minimum 3 body parts at one shot.
i think people can hear the grenades more now and the direction in which the sound comes from, ive been shooting at the sound of people pulling pins more often. so who knows
People in this game hit chest awful lot. Just look how barely anyone caught up to legging Killa until someone showed it on stream after they introduced 100 Killa quest... people aren't very smart.
Last wipe I was working on Skier's two shotgun tasks about a month and a half before 12.6 came out. Ran the 153 with 8.5mm buck and it of course worked wonders with leg meta. Not very often would I run into unarmored / lightly armored targets, but when I did they were easy one taps. Unfortunately at that time most players were running level 5 armor, so we'll see how that task goes this time when I get to it earlier!
Magnum buckshot is for removing the person from the armor. It liquefies peoples body if you hit their flesh. The issue is that since the game is so armor focused, it feels subpar compared to the others. (though i honestly have a worse result with flachette for some reason) The best part is if youre using a 153 without a stock, your PMC basically bashes the barrel against their eyebrows every shot.
what are your thoughts on the 9x39 patch? i think the price hike for sp6 is really the nail in the coffin for the val and the vss. i see no point spending 140k per reset on not enough ammo for even one raid.
I run shotguns with buckshot or flechettes or something similar, aim upper center mass and expect at least one of shrapnels to hit the face. Works more often than not.
Omg, with the folded stock you might as well be doing back flips every time you pull the trigger. The quality on these videos is absolutely amazing, not only in the content but tarkov always looks like crap on stream/youtube but your videos in 1440p are the only ones that make me actually feel like I booted up the game. Keep it up and thanks for the content, Doodles!
Magnum buckshot is nice because it just takes one pellet to an unprotected part of the head to kill someone. You're also doing more damage to arms in particular if you're aiming for center of mass. However, if you're hitting nothing but armor, I am pretty sure it does almost the same damage as other buckshot which has a LOT less recoil. All kinds of buckshot are surprisingly effective, especially early in the wipe. One interesting, realism thing, that could change shotguns: the shell type should affect the magazine capacity for shotguns with a tube magazine (all 12 gauge except the Saiga 12). The shells are stacked end-to-end in the magazine, so longer shells occupy more of the magazine's space. That could be another factor in selecting ammo.
Magnum buckshot is amazing. Does enough damage per pellet to one shot to the head compared to other pellet shells that take two pellets to the head makes a huge difference I've killed so many guys from decent range that I was like no way I killed that guy in one shot. Pellet hittem in the head
I’d like to see a buff to the Grizzly first aid kit, I think it would be cool if the grizzly could “stabilize” blacked out limbs, for example using a grizzly on a blacked out leg would allow you to walk normal, the leg would still be blacked and the damaged modifiers would still be present. I think that would be a cool change
At the beginning of Anton’s stream yesterday he was killed by somebody using a pump shotgun with magnum rounds. He was wearing a slick and class 4 helm with face shield. The first shot tanked all his health and then he died to the fourth shot cause the dude missed two times after the first shot.
Each pellet has to do one armor damage minimum if it hits also it is extremely likely to hit arms aiming for chest which can absorb a ridiculous amount of damage due to the fact the black out arms reduce damage taken. How ever say you shot a guy in the stomach but he has not armor covering that he will die in 2 shots due to the damage multiplier on the stomach. Also most buskshots take 2 pellets to the head to kill which kind of sucks but it can work. It also really matters for durability of the armor not the lvl when talking about buckshot
Wow! Imagine being one of 3 guys camping an evac doorway and getting destroyed by one guy with a shotgun... It is satisfying to see that. They had all the time in the world to leave, but they 'had to' be corny.
best shotgun round in the game tied with ap-20, I have shot people in the head and 1 tapped when they were wearing all sorts of helmets like ulahcs, Kivers, and Mandibles with the buckshot at about 15 yards. its broken on factory
You hate to see that kind of gameplay form such low levels though, they're going to feel like the game is totally against them , when tight then , it was how they were playing
was playing a game last night with the shotty with the black rounds (cant remember the name) and one guy absorbed my friends AK shots and 645 damage from myself. he was THICC
why is it that when I use buckshot it takes like 5 or 6 rounds to kill a scav but when that same scav has buckshot he either one taps me in the chest or turns me into fucking quadriplegic in 2 shots?
To my knowledge PACA is the most durable armor, due to durability points and material. Even though it only has 50 durability, the "real" value is much greater - however, it doesnt count for poop if its penetraded with e.g. m80 rounds.
could the inconsistency come from the spread? there were a couple kills you had that seemed like a large spread from close range, s the "geared" guys you drop quickly could be because of random pellets hitting head/face when you didn't aim quite there? Just spitballing. I have no idea of the mechanics.
It's definitely hit and miss it feels like. I can't tell if it's just that a couple of shots just happen to mash into someone's ears/jaws with decent helmets or if fragmentation comes into play at all. The shit is weird. Would be kind of neat if you could upgrade a shooting range or get a test going with higher tiers of armor, but that feels a long ways away.
View punch from shooting weapons is absolutely the stupidest thing in Tarkov. I consider myself experienced as shooter from my time in the military and shooting a couple thousand of round a year as a civilian. I do not notice view punch from shooting weapons in RL.. I assume brain compensates for all of this motion. As such, I find this mechanic maddening and unrealistic on Tarkov.
Doesn’t magnum buckshot do 44 flesh damage per pellet? I’m guessing that if they have a face shield, you might have a harder time - but as I understand it, any of the projectiles in your buckshot blast will one tap the face. In this part of the meta while players are still using helmets that allow headsets instead of face shields (pre-Airframe, Exfil, etc. where players start having both) I think it’s pretty good, even if your aim isn’t great there’s a good chance to put one in their eyeball. It performed pretty well for me doing Spa Tour but I haven’t reached these quests yet to try it further.
I think buckshot seems very unreliable because if you do a full armor hit, it nearly does nothing, but if you hit the arms, things go south for the target very fast with 8 pellets.
with armour-destroying type ammo like buckshot the material of the armour matters rather than the armour class. something ceramic would be least effective asgainst it
I have been using express buckshot with saiga . Because it has next best damage compared to magnum and + accuracy. Instead of -accuracy and + recoil of magnum.
Hey, Deadly! You forgot to say Magnum does 42 damage. So any player without glass protection is doomed. Plus I takes 9 out of 10 to take out scavs oneshot.
3:05 Wouldn't it be better if your armor protected just the valuable areas, your thorax? Having your arms and stomach not get popped mid firefight is useful but having a slick only protect your thorax means you aren't "wasting" armor on your arms instead of your thorax. You can always fix your arms/stomach anyways
The game needs a lot more progression mechanics to not depend on wipes like it does now. And if you don't believe it, i can say without a doubt from how most Tarkov media figures react to it, that wipes are a welcome thing, and this poses a very big problem for Tarkov as a release title.
Personally I love slug rounds in shot guns people don’t expect you to hit them from far away and I could guess it doesn’t take a lot of rounds to black someone out I feel slugs are only a cheaper alternative in the first week or two in the wipe
I think shotguns have extreme modifiers against armour types not classes really. Id imagine a shotgun would absolutely destroy a ceramic armour in one shot while kevlar, soft armours, and steel armours would take forever to destroy
Tarkov really was my hope for a game that had realism displayed with shotguns. It seems no video game ever has been able to do this. Shame on Tarkov for not having the courage to take that chance. P.S. shotguns are absolutely devastating in real life if anyone was curious.
I use magnum and express. In a 133. Its slaps pretty hard. Pretty cheap build to wipe out scav and low armor players. I've gotten a couple spicy headshots here and there with it to. Sometimes my aim is on point and they drop like a rock.
I have put a lot of raids with this ammo, 1 pellet to the head in any unarmoured zone of it at even 50m ive had it kill. I've also put 15 shot into an altyn and avs cav guad and died with an armour dmg done of 4k+, its rather inconsitent, but feels better then slugs to me. reliable 1shot head shots if there is no visor involved i preach this ammo as my personal favorite shotty ammo cause its cheap asf and does the job good. p.s. The head coil is purely extra head recoil, the gun recoils the same as other ammo
OH NO, looks like i dropped this 12 GAUGE SUPPRESSOR for my MAGNUM BUCKSHOT
people who dont get this comment
its fucking gold
Cause a suppressor doesn't work with buckshot?
MAGNUM DOOONG
Danny DeVito is a national treasure.
Imagine 3 man camping extract LOL
and losing to a buckshot solo player
It's pinpoint if this game
Happened to me and a pal on Factory yesterday. We just wanted to complete Postman Pat and get outta there.
Mannn can you imagine camping exit on factory as a 3 man squad ? Best that can happen you kill 3 pmc ..... Such good loot
Imagine 3 man camping extract and getting absolutely clapped LOL
sometimes buck shot just drops someone, one shot, sometimes i use all 8 bullets and it doesnt tickle the guy
Well yes buckshot isn`t really make for penetrating any armour
It's because one of your pellets hits their face without a face sheild
Aim for legs and you will drop them in a guaranteed 2 magnum buckshots

Slugs: always a one shot in the face
Buckshot: i always die after pumping 6 rounds into someone
Same for me
Check the wiki or bb app

I use shotguns 1/3 of the time. I like them.
The MP-153 with a 7 or 8 round mag has got to be my favorite
Agreed. 8 round magazine, 610 mm barrel, remington choke and buckshots. Amen
what ammo ?
Every time I hear "magnum" I think of Mantis Toboggan.
Every time I'm killed by an exit camper, I just re-watch this video, and know that you're out there somewhere, fighting the good fight!
what are your thoughts on the 9x39 patch? i think the price hike for sp6 is really the nail in the coffin for the val and the vss. i see no point spending 140k per reset on not enough ammo for even one raid.
Yea there is no way to just consistently run it like last wipe unless you stockpile them or sum shit
I run shotguns with buckshot or flechettes or something similar, aim upper center mass and expect at least one of shrapnels to hit the face. Works more often than not.
That was so satisfying watching you wipe a 3 man group freaking camping extract.

No science, no experiments just feeling, I freaking drop dudes with Magnum Buckshot.
My ass was never the same after that encounter with deadly and his MAGNUM BUCK SHOT.
when he folded that stock i honestly though that he will do a backflip after the first shot

Talks about how he shouldn't throw more nades..... Throws a flash, and walks right into it. xD Wow indeed. Made my day!
You asked about our experience with buckshot, so I'll tell you I've never bodied a 3 man team or cleared factory with it 😅 I typically just use AP20.

Imagine being so bad that you have to extract camp as a 3 man and you still lose. Lmao
Even worse, imagine being asked to do it, and going along with it for views.
Wow! Imagine being one of 3 guys camping an evac doorway and getting destroyed by one guy with a shotgun... It is satisfying to see that. They had all the time in the world to leave, but they 'had to' be corny.
What are your thoughts on the mosin price nerf and the place of the mosin in the game now that it costs more than a SV-98 or a Remington 700?
Mark Patino I mean if there wasn’t fifty Mosin quests on woods there would be less
I just cleaned out an interchange with 7mm buckshot lol. I love the mp153
goddamn killing those three exit-campers in factory was epic.
Do you have a video on video setting??? Making the dark spots light without making outside too bright
best shotgun round in the game tied with ap-20, I have shot people in the head and 1 tapped when they were wearing all sorts of helmets like ulahcs, Kivers, and Mandibles with the buckshot at about 15 yards. its broken on factory

I think buckshot seems very unreliable because if you do a full armor hit, it nearly does nothing, but if you hit the arms, things go south for the target very fast with 8 pellets.
with armour-destroying type ammo like buckshot the material of the armour matters rather than the armour class. something ceramic would be least effective asgainst it
Subbed after I heard a nice big lebowski reference and what is that tune? Monty Python? Can't quite put my finger on it. Either way nice stuff sir.
Magnum buckshot best shotty ammo. Aim for the peen and you kill em with 1 shot most times.
Buck shot is definitely weird I one tapped a guy in the thorax apparently with my toz when they had trooper armour at full durability
I have been using express buckshot with saiga . Because it has next best damage compared to magnum and + accuracy. Instead of -accuracy and + recoil of magnum.
I often play with 153 magnum buckshot, imo it's really good if you have a buddy with a rifle
I wish someone would do an extensive armor test video with shotguns.
Hey, Deadly! You forgot to say Magnum does 42 damage. So any player without glass protection is doomed. Plus I takes 9 out of 10 to take out scavs oneshot.
Fact:
Shotguns are the most satisfying gun in Tarkov.
I agree, so satisfying when you drop some with buckshot in the face
Close, but the most satisfying gun in the game is the ASH-12
that's not PPSh
Yes, silenced semi auto shotty-one-taps at medium-long distance is oddly satisfying!
PPSH spray down would like to have word with you
my jaw dropped at 11:55
this is the best exitcamp kills iwe seen
3:05 Wouldn't it be better if your armor protected just the valuable areas, your thorax? Having your arms and stomach not get popped mid firefight is useful but having a slick only protect your thorax means you aren't "wasting" armor on your arms instead of your thorax. You can always fix your arms/stomach anyways
yes but you can get 2 shot at stomach by shotgun or 6-7 shot of smg in 1 sec
What do you think about adding more trader tiers to create a longer midgame
The game needs a lot more progression mechanics to not depend on wipes like it does now. And if you don't believe it, i can say without a doubt from how most Tarkov media figures react to it, that wipes are a welcome thing, and this poses a very big problem for Tarkov as a release title.
Personally I love slug rounds in shot guns people don’t expect you to hit them from far away and I could guess it doesn’t take a lot of rounds to black someone out I feel slugs are only a cheaper alternative in the first week or two in the wipe
Uh was the saiga during the clips folded ?
Shotguns are king in early wipe, i have killed 30+ PMCs in armour with buckshot.
I tend to have better raids when running buckshot in a shotgun than any other gun. Maybe its because I'm trash, but it works well for me.
I think shotguns have extreme modifiers against armour types not classes really. Id imagine a shotgun would absolutely destroy a ceramic armour in one shot while kevlar, soft armours, and steel armours would take forever to destroy
Who would win? A three man ambush at extract or one 3inchy boi.
new intro music is DOPE.......deadly!
Woke up to a deadly video and a left on generator Feelsbadman
The recoil just has you staring up at the sky lol
If i'm correct since each magnum pellet has 45 damage, 1 pellet is sufficient to dome a player
Been using magnum since the last update. It's pretty effective for me as long as I don't hit the armor.
You're gonna give yourself whiplash you keep that stock folded. lol GGs
What about not being able to play with friends cuz the ping cap :( it just lowered to 170 and I still see cheaters so it isn’t helping much
Pretty sure you can 2 shot a leg pretty consistently with magnum buckshot so it's hard to resist the urge to just leg meta with it
Even the gods flash themselves with flashbangs * ^ *
