A plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) has both a combustion engine and an electric motor. Each one is capable of powering the vehicle on its own. PHEVs are ideal for motorists who want to use their cars in a variety of ways. You can use the electric motor for daily commutes, but also take advantage of the great range and flexibility of a petrol engine when you go on longer trips.
The exterior of the new BMW 5 Series plug-in hybrid is identical to the combustion engine models; the only distinction is the charging connection on the driver side front fender and the model badge on the trunk lid. The high-voltage battery has been positioned in a space saving way right under the rear seat and can be charged almost everywhere. Even with conventional household socket by using the standard charging cable or through energy recuperation.
The new BMW 5 Series Plug-in Hybrid is not only future oriented but also fun.

BMW 530e Sedan: Energy consumption in kWh/100 km (combined): 14.8-13.7. Fuel consumption in l/100 km (combined): 1.8-1.7. CO2 emissions in g/km (combined): 42-39.
BMW 530e xDrive Touring: Energy consumption in kWh/100 km (combined): 20.0-18.5. Fuel consumption in l/100 km (combined): 2.2-1.8. CO2 emissions in g/km (combined): 51-41.
The values of fuel consumptions, CO2 emissions and energy consumptions shown were determined according to the European Regulation (EC) 715/2007 in the version applicable at the time of type approval. The figures refer to a vehicle with basic configuration in Germany and the range shown considers optional equipment and the different size of wheels and tires available on the selected model. The values of the vehicles are already based on the new WLTP regulation and are translated back into NEDC-equivalent values in order to ensure the comparison between the vehicles. [With respect to these vehicles, for vehicle related taxes or other duties based (at least inter alia) on CO2-emissions the CO2 values may differ to the values stated here.] The CO2 efficiency specifications are determined according to Directive 1999/94/EC and the European Regulation in its current version applicable. The values shown are based on the fuel consumption, CO2 values and energy consumptions according to the NEDC cycle for the classification. Is it really true the sedan is 410l boot and touring 430l boot? I get the boot is snaller due to battery pack, but still the touring looks a lot bigger then just 20l difference when compared with the sedan right?

I do not think that the touring from this video is with xDrive. You can have both emblems, the motor indication and xDrive together or none of them, according with the configurator. So I think that the Touring is the normal 530e. But of course, the 5 Touring can be ordered as 530e xDrive.
how come it still using the pre-facelift 5 series as the demonstration in the i-drive system? cost saving? that's a bit annoying.

They should find a way to put bigger rims on the 530e Touring. Today the maximum size is 18", as you can see in the video this is too small for a 5 series!

please BMW HQ in germany! Ask BMW korea to do some market research so they know there are tons of 5-touring fans who would immediately buy when it's out. BMW korea wont just import 5-touring just because of the fact that the sales of wagon hann't been so good for the past decade.
