btw, fun fact: this is a pretty influential manga. The anime is relatively newer, but the manga came out in 1998, and it has inspired certain aspects of other very popular anime. For example, both Naruto and Jujutsu Kaisen have elements that are pretty heavily inspired by hunter hunter. Sasuke from Naruto and the clan he comes from is based off Kurapika and his clan. As well as the chuunin exams in Naruto being based off the Hunter exam. Something you might be more familiar with though, is that Jujutsu Kaisen's magic system uses a lot of the same ideas as the magic system used in both HunterxHunter and also Yu Yu Hakusho, which is written by the same person who wrote hunterxhunter, Yoshihiro Togashi. He is pretty well respected in the manga/anime community.

Jared & Jordan, this can't be a coincidence. I just started watching Hunter x Hunter! I've been watching anime for so long now but never watched this one for no particular reason. I read so many good reviews about it, so obviously I had to find out why. In many shonen animes, we often find a rivalry between two characters with quite opposite personalities and skill levels. That was created by the rivalry between Son Goku and Vegeta and heavily popularized by Naruto, in which we have Naruto and Sasuke. Usually, we will find these duos in teams in which there is also a female character, like Sakura, for instance. That whole thing became a trope and inspired many anime. You will find them in anime like Haikyuu, Black Clover, Fairy Tail, or even kind of JJK - though here, Yuji and Megumi are not introduced as rivals, but they both have that opposite-personality dynamic, and obviously we have our female character Nobara who is part of the team. And many other shows. But to my surprise, Killua isn't really as "Sasuke-coded" as expected. He has some of the obvious character traits, but unlike all the other duos, he became friends with Gon immediately! Usually, the second male lead, the other half of the duo, has no interest in forming a friendship like that from the beginning. They're also less silly. They start off with rivalry only. He is much sillier than I was expecting. I enjoy his character so far. As for right now, this show seems like a typical shounen fight anime to me, but based on what I read about it, there are greater things coming. I look forward to it, especially to a certain villain character who might have been another reason I started watching the show.
super glad you guys are reacting to such a wonderful shonen!!! i would recommend reacting to 3-4 episodes at a time as this anime can take quite a long time to go through and many sagas of episodes are done well in succession of each other
I only watched until ep 20 of hxh on your patreon, before having to cancel it due to financial issues, but I'll just have to either wait until it reaches ep 21 here on TH-cam or hopefully I'll be able to join your Patreon again 😭

Besides the show there are two movies to watch as well!!! After season 3 (Phantom Troupe Arc) I'd suggest watching HXH: Phantom Rogue since in the timeline this happens after that! Then the second movie, HXH: The Last Mission can be watched after season 4 (Greed Island Arc). Its not mandatory but it does give you more story and answers to certain aspects of it. Love the reaction btw :) !
Recommend watching episode 1 of 1999 adaptation or reading chapter 1 of manga for context. This is a reboot which skips/changes the introduction in both content and tone
This is the first anime I watched in my life. I advise you to complete it. I was addicted to it when I was young. It was my childhood anime. If I had not watched it before, I would have watched it now. and The last character's Which has not yet appeared name is Killua And yes, he puts his hands in his pockets You made me laugh when you said he had his pants on hhhh , and he's my favorite him And Kurapika Of course Leorio and Gon too But killua more As for me, the first half of the anime was translated into my language, so it had another name ( القناص ) , but the second And the third half I had to watch in its original language, but it was translated. As for me, I watched it in three different names and in two languages at the same time because I could not find it in its entirety, so I had to search for it.
