Wheeler, talking about Serge: "Have you played commander with this guy?" As a matter of fact, yes I have! I'm in the video for the Commander party at GP Vegas 2019. He swung the entire table out for twice our combined life total! Serge is a menace and deserves no sympathy for his Magic crimes. (That game was a lot of fun and we all had a great time)
@@suNn.K.O they did this already! kind of like the beejlander arc, i remember watching an old old video where he was piloting some deck and had little clue how to do it, but there were coaches involved...i think? i dont remember much but i remember it existing
The 'find something to make Wheeler the odd one out' moment is an all-timer. Especially as Ben himself points out like a minute later that he's on the CAG and the others aren't.
I don't often actually laugh out loud when watching youtube but the conversation in the beginning got me. Graham's delivery of "Well.. he's gay" absolutely killed me. Love you all.
Re: Japanese vowels - the "ai" in komainu would normally be pronounced close to the way Nelson did, except (pseudo)diphthongs don't occur when the vowels are on either side of a morpheme boundary, which is the case with this word (koma - lion shrine guard + inu - dog) and so the pronunciation is the way Wheeler said it. A word like "ai" (love) on the other hand, is normally pronounced as a diphthong, since both vowels are contained within one morpheme.
Regarding dice manipulation and the planar die. What works: Rerolling dice and using the new result (Monitor Monitor is the only eternal legal card to work with the planar die this way). Rolling extra dice and choosing a number of them to ignore (Bamboozling Beeble, Ichor Elixir, and the Squid Fire Knight sticker sheet are the only eternal legal options). What doesn't work: Effects that refer to six-sided dice or other n-sided dice. Increasing or decreasing the value of the dice. Rolling multiple dice and ignoring the lowest value (aka "advantage" effects from AFR). Planar dice do not have a high roll nor a low roll, and do not have any numerical value tied to any of their sides.
Wheeler's "alright everything at Graham" after all that time spent discussing Swift Reconfiguration almost made me spittake. This was a fantastic episode!
For anyone curious and unable to place it, the spinning plane swap sound is the level entry sound for the SNES game Actraiser, which I'm a big fan of, and either Paul or Graham must be as well (I'm betting Paul 😀)
1:01:53 Oko does seem so at home on Eldraine… but it would make sense that a fey king turning people into elks would hail from somewhere a little more Gaelic. Also makes sense that the England plane has so much trouble with him lol
Planechase Anthology was the last thing I bought before the last of my friends stopped playing Mtg. When it arrived I no longer had a play group, so the box is still sealed.
45:19 I was going to say that they have printed instant speed planar die rolling in Fractured Powerstone, but that still only activates at sorcery speed. It just lets you bypass paying the cost. Yeah, that Chaos deck really let Graham down there. I don't think I've ever seen it whiff that hard.
"Two 40k decks, two Kamigawa" Think to myself: I bet they could all fit in Warhammer. Sees Azorius Vehicles and Gruul Modified Snakes... Tau and Seraphons? And Planechase is obv just passing through the Warp. Edit: Second game was the most flavorful game ever. Starting plane literally promotes grim bloody war, Chaos cheats to start the Heresy, Szarekh got put into his battle barge vehicle, Seraphon just punches everything to death.
I know y’all don’t love to play commander in general, but the second game is why you’re so great at it: salty, sloppy, hilarious, no stakes. Just great entertainment. “Sorry, was that a go?” Should be a button.
I'm in the process of moving across the country(6 more days!), and my play group here kinda ghosted so this has been nice to scratch that magic itch. (Not like an STD I take meds for that) Hope the week finds yall well.
I’ve always wanted to see a game of commander planechase where each player is representing a single plane, like Alara vs Innistrad vs Lorwyn vs Zendikar
That mistake with the saga most likely straight-up cost Serge the game. They would have left that plane eventually (especially if Serge still tried to untap), but Parhelion could be crewed, then has vigilance and spawns in two untapped angels to block and crew it on future turns.
Whenever it happens here, I always say "All games of Commander should be _The Wheel of Precons_ ". But, if it can't be the Wheel, All *OTHER* games of Commander should be _Planechase_ !
Wow, Serge really turned heel for this one, especially that second game. I retract all my previous 'why does everybody bully Serge' comments - clearly they just knew what was coming.
Look, I know Serge is aggressive and cutthroat in Commander. But he also looks and sounds very harmless, so it feels like you're bullying him even when he's definitely, obviously the archenemy.
Graham not casting that blocker for free just because it wasn't going to get value for its trigger was odd. Also the judges telling Graham he couldn't Reverberate his cascade spell on the stack was wrong too.
@@markbrierley6367 Sorry, I thought you were talking about the other time he cascaded into Reverberate, where he could copy the resurrection spell which only had the one target in Wheeler's graveyard. 2:31:27 He actually said no to Graham asking if he would cascade off the copy, and immediately followed it up with "but you could deal 6 to everything". Graham decided not to because it really wouldn't have helped; it would have killed only one of Nelson's creatures and both of his own.
The idea that each player is meant to have their own planar deck is absurd to me. I dropped off of magic between the first introduction of Commander and the introduction of Planechase, but when they released the Planechase Anthology with a singular giant planar deck it made sense to me that THAT was how you played planechase.
Love planechase streams for 2 reasons.
1-chaos
2-Paul can show off how good he is at his job

How was GP Vegas? I'm watching the video you mentioned, and it's crazy how full that room of JUST commander players was!
I really want a “thanks for having me, it’s great to be here” shirt with Wheelers face on it.
one of these days wheeler is just gonna say "hey" or something as his intro and everyone will be incredible confused and alarmed.
An extremely long joke with a slow burn punchline that takes literal years to payoff? Benjamin "horse joke" Wheeler would never!
On a recent north 100 showdown he opened with oh hey I didn't see you there
It happened today, hype
And with that one stream the prophesy was fulfilled
Just hearing Paul say hello makes my day a hundred times better
Wouldn't be the same without him!
Paul despite rarely being on camera always has his moment :) thanks for I’ll the work Paul! And everybody else too but gotta shout out Paul!
Paul is best boy- don't tell Adam.
Paul does an amazing job for sure. Would love to see him partake in a game one day. :p

Wait, isn't he already "out".😅

Hearing Graham lose it at all the hits from wheeler’s deck is too good
If the next button doesn't say "Their plasma is stored in the canisters" I'll be disappointed.
The planeswalker knows where they are at all times. They know this because of the little display at the bottom of the stream.
I'm so glad I suggested the Myst link book sound effect the first time they did Planechase. Best decision of my life
1:05:08 for the origin of "Plasma is stored in the cannisters" meme.
As a self proclaimed warhammer lore nerd, that pronounciation of Szarekh, the Silent King was...
Solid. keep it up.
Serge getting heated over wanting to kill Wheeler was 10/10 content

Wheeler, as the premier Parhelion II pilot of the format, really played the second game beautifully

when will my son, Commander Beejchase, return from the war.........
(i do love this tho)
I do miss Beejchase tbh 😂
btw, "one big deck" planechase is sanctioned by the rules now. Not sure when that happened, but the official rules for planechase now include it
When wheeler said “it’s so big” I had a feeling.. and when he said “it’s so meeeean” I knew he had the shard-homie
Wheeler's "alright everything at Graham" after all that time spent discussing Swift Reconfiguration almost made me spittake. This was a fantastic episode!
Im a simple man, I see wheeler i click.
I, for one, love Wheeler playing the role of Smash Bros Donkey Kong, grabbing Serge and SDing off the edge of the stage together
Plasma is stored in the canisters.
1:59:36 the way nelson and serge say the same thing at the same time is amazing
Thank you Nelson. Yes we absolutely were bugging out.
I've said it before, I'll say it again: Paul's "hello" makes me happy every time.
Notably, "can't be sacrificed" doesn't protect against the legend rule.
Hyped for more content, keep up the great work guys 😊
Tell me Goad isn't popular in Canadian Highlander without telling me Goad isn't popular in Canadian Highlander ;)

Man Wheeler coming in aggressive with his intro hopefully that follows up in his gameplay!
Plane chase what airline are they taking
Nice
Parhelion, they say the flight attendants are angels.
This video was such a blast from start to finish.

They thought they were playing commander, but they were playing Archenemy, and the planar deck was his schemes.

"You can't possibly win!"
"You didn't listen..."
Much love to Paul, the power behind the throne!

The joke about a magic player showering once a week was the best part of the whole video

Why does everyone bully Serge? All he wanted to do was kill Wheeler!
Aww, no Eternities Map? I tried that Sunday and it is great :D
Did anyone realize that Abaddon never showed up?
I'm glad everyone agrees one stack planechase is the way to go. Have all of you considered playing vanguard ever?
Small error, but I think that serge's Foundry Inspector was goaded and had to attack
I'm a simple man, I see Planechase and I engage.
... do you think Nelson's deck has 2 Mossfire Valley?
They adressed it and it does not, they replaced it with a card from aftermath
I have also ever since the warhammer decks came out thought the horus heresy was 5 cmc so graham is not alone
pepperoni charmeleon
Look, I know Serge is aggressive and cutthroat in Commander. But he also looks and sounds very harmless, so it feels like you're bullying him even when he's definitely, obviously the archenemy.
I loved Serge and wheeler trying to kill eachother. And maybe Serge being more Snerge.
Game one was classic commander. Game 2 was 4 player casual yugioh. 10/10.
I aspire to someday have mastery of OBS and stream tech on pauls level. He should have a dark wizard tower and take apprentices

Nobody said he couldn't do it, he just chose not to because there were no other targets for the spell he would copy.

Graham had such terrible cascades
So Cascade as usual then?
Roborosewater Commander Planechase next?
I’ve got planechase anthology for sale and I’m on Vancouver island
Serge bullying was justified.

Aw I *totally* feel sorry for Serge in that second game. Absolutely no justice at LRR

For the record, wheeler your pronunciation was fine
He’s…gay?
💀💀💀
Wait, is Serge not gay?
The more ive been watching these lately, more im starting to realize Wheeler is the guy in the group who thinks hes cooler than he is.
