    here a tip on cleaning rust inside the fuel tank. i did this for my 1964 Scout by using steel nuts. it works great to remove the old residual and rust. rinse it out with water and repeat process until water is clean. after inside cleaned blow shop air inside to dry inside. pour a can of tank sealer just to ensure there is no leak. be sure to let the tank set out in the sun so the sealer will flow easy as the sealer is evenly distribute inside the tank. let dry for few days as per instruction.

    Thanks for showing a nice detailed tour of the CJ3A. It's cool to see details of what you're starting with, and I like that you're going to try to save as much as the original components as possible...

    Cool, Looking forward to the steering wheel rebuild. I'm working on an M38A1 CDN3 myself. Having trouble finding a new sector shaft for the ross box though. Can't save mine. Totally rusted and pitted. Worm gear also.'

      Try Pete Debella jeep parts in New York. I don't have his phone number handy right now but search for him and give him a call. He will have a NOS sector shaft for you. Tell him that Brian from youtube sent you. Thanks for watching.

    Well Brain, it's now Thanksgiving 2019 and wife & I started our '66 cj5 tare down on the 20th and tub ready to now come off on Thanksgiving Day. Our family members are unaware, but before our annual dinner, we get the boys to lift off the Meers top and tub,,, :)> ! My said "What a Plan". Since we only have 4 post lift, there was no good way for us 2 to remove since I had both hips replaced last yr and recovering from back fusion last November :)>. Our's has a nice clean tub, so media blasting planed for next week and start on frame clean up. Best of wishes for 2019 Holidays, from Gerald (Bear) @ Bears Rod Shop, TX.

    best way to install the new upper column bearing under the spring? first one I tried to tap in with a socket and bearings went everywhere. thanks

    • @metalshaperJeep
      @metalshaperJeep 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      just put the bearing on the bench upside down and push the tube over it. The modern bearings are flimsy, but the NOS or originals can be tapped on with no chance of them coming apart.

    • @jayb9958
      @jayb9958 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      metalshaper the issue i had was gettin it onto the steering shaft portion of the inner bearing part. the clips that hold the bearing together wobbled too much

    • @metalshaperJeep
      @metalshaperJeep 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I understand. I have had so much trouble with those bearings in the past so I developed and started using the solid one that I make now.

      I sell them, but don't have a website or online store. Best to contact me directly if you need one. Check the video I made also, it requires a hole in the column, and some guys don't like to do that. you can reach me at metalshaper@comcast.net
