    What's good #GustoNATION, have you been out to explore Clearing? What neighborhood should we visit next?

    Pretty sad when they stopped Chicago's Best. Glad you're here to fill my fix!

    The Pupusas look good. They will fill you up. Pro tip: No forks & knives. Put some curtido on your plate and drop that salsa on it. Then tear a piece off that Pupusa and scoop up the curtido.
    Your videos are fantastic, Papa. Entertaining and educational.

    I moved from the suburbs 10years ago to Garfield ridge and I dont regret it. It feels like the suburbs BUT without the high paying taxes! Great neighborhood, very safe with all the cops living around me😁 grate place to raise a family! Great video! I learned alot!

    My family has been in this area for almost 80 years. I live in Archer Heights but I was born in West Lawn and went to grammar school in West Elsdon where my dad's family lived. I am very familiar with Garfield Ridge, Clearing, Archer Heights, West Elsdon, and West Lawn. My grandparents moved to the area in the 1940s from West Englewood. Glad that you showcased a small part of our humble Midway community. In terms of cuisine, we are definitely known for our Mexican food these days though twenty years ago we had a lot of Polish delis and a great Polish buffet called Tatras on Pulaski and 60th. It would probably be easiest to feature a "best of" when it comes to all of the taquerias in the area. I'd recommend Xocome Antojeria on Archer for their filet mignon tacos and traditional chorizo/potato pambazos & they were recently on ABC7 or WGN (can't remember which). Zaragoza was named one of the best taco spots in Illinois and they do great birria, they've been around a while now. (I think they're opening a second spot in Albany Park area, maybe Logan Square?) Solazo on Pulaski recently reopened after a fire some years ago with an updated hip interior. Las Picosas does those pork tortas that are served wet which is pretty popular in the area. I personally love the pork belly tacos at La Haciendita on Pulaski and 59th. My favorite chiles rellenos are at Indio on 63rd street, their steak tacos are AMAZING too with queso, lettuce and tomato (American style) and the best Mexican breakfast is also on 63rd street at La Quebrada as they have great arrachera. I hope that you visit one or more of these spots on your next trip to the south west side :)

    SOUTHWEST SIDE represent! Interesting video. I had no idea Wentworth built a home at 55th and Harlem. That's the area I'm originally from. It was great learning who all of these landmarks were named after.

    • @ntatenarin
      @ntatenarin 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree. Besides Midway airport, I don't know anything about the southwest side.
      Edit: Oh yeah, and I remember this was the area where I would take the bus to see a Chicago Fire soccer game. It was so annoying because it took me so long to get to the stadium.

    • @davidgarcia9308
      @davidgarcia9308 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@ntatenarin ...it's going to take you even longer now that they're playing @ Soldiers Field!

    • @ntatenarin
      @ntatenarin 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@davidgarcia9308 Actually, Soldier Field isn't too bad for me. I just take the Red Line to Roosevelt, and either take the 146 bus (if I remember correctly), or just walk to the stadium. While it takes some time, it's much better than going to the stadium the Chicago Fire used to play in.

    I was 15 years old in 1972, I grew up on 43rd & Keating, one block east of Cicero Ave. the Sleepy Hollow Neighborhood. A couple friends and I would walk or ride our bikes to Midway and wait for the pilots to exit the planes when they would come in. We would then ask them if we could board the plane and see the cockpit. 99% of the time the pilots would give us a tour of the planes
    , and let us sit in the cockpit. They also gave us wing pins as souvenirs. Unfortunately, the way things are these days those times are gone forever.

    It's actually the best neighborhood to raise a family and in my opinion best schools bunch of cops everywhere because they live there a lot of residential parking so you'll be able to get a parking spot very calm living

    One suggestion for future episodes is please leave the titles up for a few more frames. Had to finesse the back 10 seconds button several times to finish reading what you had thrown up on the screen (for example ingredients on the Italian sub - which looked so good).
