    There's no need for transparency paper. All you need to do is put clear packing tape over the image, cut it out, put it in water for a few minutes until it is soaked through, and then take it out and rub the paper away and the image will be on the tape

    Very cute, but you can actually do the craft with plastic Christmas balls. The 'soot' effect can be achieved by using clear glue sparingly & either powdered tempera paint, crushed pastel or powdered black ink (even real soot if you have access to it). They make transparency paper for printers. They make hot glue guns in both high & low temps (I have a gun with both settings on it), just use the low temp for adhering the image.
