My machine has actually stopped working within 2 weeks of the message showing up. My now not working, ResMed 10 is 3 years old.

My S9 had been giving the "....contact service provider" message for some time before its motor finally stopped working. Whenever the power is turned on now the screen lights up displaying RESMED & then goes dark before repeating the cycle endlessly until the machine is shut off. It appears that it's trying to start up and failing. Is this what happens when the motor has expired?

OMG I've been getting that message for months and it did really scare me. I think its horrendous that these companies use scare tactics like this. No wonder people are becoming so untrusting (BTW I Just received the Mini today) I thought at any minute my AirSence 10 would stop and I would be in a heck of a mess since I supposedly have severe OSP, 1min58sec!! Thank God your channel popped up when I was searching info on the mini. I didn't even know how to find these settings.
My AHI for 1 year is 1.6 an leaks 17..so looks pretty good since you said AHI under 4 and leaks under 24 I believe. Please correct me if I am wrong. But anyways my anxiety has subsided. Thanks so much and your kids are adorable!! 😁 Looking into a membership.

Thanks for all the useful information you provide!

I am back using my Resmed S9 after the Phillips recall and I was told that when I get that message it means that my machine might not be providing the correct level of therapy but when I use Oscar, the data looks good. The Resmed message works since I was tricked into getting a new Dreamstation in April 2020 when the S9 message about Motor life exceeded appeared everyday.

When the motor goes it generally gives some warning. My wife's CPAP literally sounded like a jet engine failing. 😳 her motor took literally 9 years to actually die. The motors in these are basically hard drive motors with fans attached, you could expect about 120,000 hours mtbf out of them. ❤

There's got to be a method of resetting the counter for that motor since they have designed it to be replaced. I work on industrial printers which will occasionally come up with similar cryptic messages like "Replace 3, call your dealer". These are preventive maintenance type items, but we will give the instructions to reset them when asked. I have the clinician's manual for the Airsense 10, but it does not include that service information.

      @barbararhamey5484 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yes. As a result of seeing the message, I contacted the sleep clinic and they referred me to the medical supply company. The med supply co said it was expensive to replace the motor, they recommend a new cpap. My insurance wanted a new sleep study in order to obtain the cpap through the medical supply co. (I have used a cpap for years.) Sleep clinic recommended buying cpap out of pocket. Got a deal on-line. Then I figured out why there was such a good deal as it was recalled. Bought my new cpap in May.

I do want a new machine - our insurance pays 80%, so the money isn't an issue. It's just that so few machines are available right now. Thanks for that info. I had the message on my machine for at least a couple of years. I finally did get the S10 to replace my nine year old S9. I don't like the goofy water chamber on this new machine. What a poorly designed feature. And I can't figure out how to manually raise the humidity level to something more comfortable. But hey, I could be like my old man, stuck with the Phillips recalled machine, a provider telling him to go head and keep using it while the company tells him to stop using it and wait up to a year for a replacement. The whole industry feels like a huge money making scam sometimes.

I'm in Canada here. Just got my 3rd new AirSense10. ResMed says you need to change the nasal mask cushion every month. I'm still using the Respironics Comfort Gel-Blue nasal mask. Because it's the mask that works for me. I've gone through about 12 of those masks so far and just ordered 3 more. Plus ResMed wants you to change their Climate Line hose every 3 months. But those cushions are about $50 each and probably cost $1 to make in China. And the hose costs almost $100. If you follow their replacement schedule, it'll cost me more to run my CPAP machine than my car. I also wonder about their quality. My new AirSense 10 was made in Singapore while the previous 2 versions were made in Australia. I wonder if the quality would be the same from Singapore.

I got switched over to a ResMed 10 about 7yrs ago and much prefer it for the heated tube and quietness so know 7yrs later the blower is not ramping up to it's upper settings and it was giving the message Blower has exceeded it's life expectancy! So I'm back on the second BiPAP again and waiting on a long list of people waiting on a backlog machines. So just because you have been fully vaccinated along with booster where a mask and stay away from large crowds Covid will still come along and F'up your life.

I've rebuilt hundreds of these s9 and s10 machines. Slap in a new blower (I rebuild those as well) and Bob's Your Uncle!! Toss in some new electrolytic caps, a new 3v battery and off you go for less than half the price of a Resmed motor. Now you have a brand new machine with every life-limited item replaced.

Currently, a new ResMed Airsense 10 in the UK is £826 inc humidifier, heated hose, and VAT. For the life of me, looking at my machine, I cannot see that it is worth that much money. I just put it down to the fact that it is a medical device and they tend to jack the prices up for that type of appliance. Yes, I know you can get one on the NHS here once you have been diagnosed with sleep apnoea but currently, it is a two-year wait for one. 20 years ago when I was first diagnosed the waiting time was one week. How times have changed.

Popping a message is fine by me. Just do not brick the stupid machine. The expected life of the motor is a statistical concept, so just take it as a congratulatory cheer for having taken good care of the machine. The next parts that will go bad are the capacitors on the circuit board: They are good for about 165,000 hours, which is about 20 years if your machine is always on... In my case, I just got a new machine, it would take me to 91 years old, so the machine will probably survive me! ;-)

  • @RobFeldy

I noticed that inside the machine there is a cmos battery. It most likely keeps track of date time and usage via that battery backup. I have not removed it and see what happens but . I bet you can master reset it by pulling it. And the phone home modem cell line..

These C Pap companies are DISGUSTING! I had one of the Phillips machines that is recalled due to the foam that breaks apart. I was NEVER notified by anyone about the recall. Not my doc, not Phillips, not the durable medical equipment provider, not anyone. I used the thing for a good 8 years. So God knows what kind of damage was done to my lungs. Then I got a new Resmed Airsense 10. It has lasted so far 1 1/2 years. And all of the sudden it will not power on. No matter what I do. Looked online and low and behold, this problem is now beginning to happen everywhere to people! This is clearly a defect in these machines. The machine is still being paid for by my insurance. They pay for two years on it. Meanwhile, I drive to another city today to go to the durable medical equipment provider where I got it. They refuse to help me in any way on the machine. Saying they have not had any new Resmed machines in for nearly a year now, due to Resmed being backed up trying to replace all of these defective machines!
Remember, my insurance is literally STILL paying for this machine monthly! And the supplier never notified me of this issue. I asked them why they have not notified me. Their response: “Well, Resmed said they notified all customers. But we are seeing most of our customers actually saw it on the news”. Ok, so if you know that, why haven’t you notified those of us who are your customers? Nobody is taking any responsibility here. I am pissed off enough, I am ready just to drag everybody’s a$$ into court! Resmed, the medical supplier, insurance, everyone. And let the court sort it out. These supply companies are absolutely worthless! They mark everything up terrible. Then wash their hands as soon as you leave with the equipment.
What are they really for at that point, besides being a middle man making everything cost twice as much as it should? As consumers, we should be able to just get the machines directly from the manufacturer. Since the medical equipment suppliers, won’t back what they sell anyway! The whole damn medical equipment field is a GIANT SCAM! I am not for bigger government. But in this case, I am ready for government to take oversight of this market to the next level and really crack down on these CROOKS!
LISTEN UP PHILLUPS, RESMED ALL OF YOU! I truly hope you are reading this! YOU ARE CROOKS, CRIMINALS AND EXTORTION EXPERTS! Just like the pharmaceutical companies! You provide subpar service. Subpar products. And then literally charge thousands for equipment that costs less than $100 to build. I know, because I have priced out the raw parts. And that is at retail prices. You buy in massive bulk. So you likely pay, much, much less. Not to mention, these machines haven’t made any real advancements in technology in years. Minor improvements here and there.
They are literally just small air pumps. With some basic electronics running them, we have smarter tech in our smartphones! No different then the rip off hearing aides field. That charges thousands for little hearing aides that cost somewhere between $25-75 each to build. As consumers, WE ARE SICK OF BEING SCREWED OVER BY YOU CROOKS!
As you can tell, I am pissed! 😡 No machine. No idea when I will get a new one. WORST PART: it is STILL BEING PAID FOR!!! NOBODY WILL HELP ME. AND I literally cannot sleep with out a cpap. Been awake for two days now… I am getting ready to sue the pants off Resmed and the medical supplier!

I have just begun a trial of a ResMed Airsense 10. If I choose to buy it, my data is uploaded and shared with the specialist, and any adjustments are included in the cost. I asked if I could buy a used machine and have it tie in to their automatic data upload, and told that it was not possible. I find that very strange. And the used machine (2yr old Airsense 10) really costs a fraction of a new one. I feel like getting a new one is a bit of a scam.

I bought a second hand Resmed 9 I had it for about a year when the dreaded message came up. I had no idea how many hours the machine had been used in the past. I was very annoyed by the whole thing I did not realise that the machine had a limited life. This all happened a couple of weeks before I was to take a month long trip to outback Australia in a motor home with my friend and as my snoring is awful I felt I had no choice but to invest in a new machine the Resmed 10. Had I known that there probably was not a risk in my machine failing I probably would not have replaced it. This sleep apnea issue is very very expensive luckily I go to a sleep clinic at a public hospital no cost.

I had a non resmed machine that lasted 8 years before the blower started squealing like a little pig. There was nothing advising wearout time on it so I was given a Resmed 10 machine to replace it. I have found in the Clinical settings a section that enables reminders for replacement of parts but I have disabled all of those.

Google 1800 CPAP get one for half the price from the US you’ll have to change the power plug over to an aussie plug with an adapter I did that with a Fisher and Paykel icon plus no dramas it was about $1000 landed instead of 2 1/2 grand
They will spin you a story domestically that there is no warranty on those in Australia it’s garbage I claimed mine on a warranty after three years due to a dodgy humidifier
and they replaced it with a brand-new machine…..
Full retail in Australia on a resmed air sense 10 is 2578 you can get one here landed for 895 usd which is about 1200+60 bucks freight

CPAP machines use electric motors - which have little to no friction occurring that would damage the motor parts themselves. So, it is highly likely the device would last a LOT more than the hours they are programming into it. Somebody needs to come up with a software hack to reset the machine.
