A western is a movie that takes place in the 1800. Cowboys and indians. Colts and Winchesters. Horses and stagecoaches. Stetsons and locomotives. Ect. Brokeback mountain and no country for old men, are not Westerns. They take place in the mosern times, when cars and planes where invented.
You make sure you speak for yourself and quit including all of the United States when you say that people don't believe in certain ideals anymore maybe when you referring to students at Berkeley
It’s really sad what they have done to this beloved genre. I for sure believe in the ideals in a John Wayne movie. Or any older Western for that matter. Not only are those older movies great to watch, but you also learn a lot of very very good ideal’s. Don’t forget all of those amazing tv shows we have. Gun smoke is my favorite, a sherif who brings cold hard justice. If a character like that existed today liberals like this man would be running to there safe spaces.

I like Sicario, Hell or High Water, & Wind River for my neo-western craving.
They are thriller movies but not western

Deadman with Johnny Depp is by far one of the strangest experiences I've ever had while watching a movie. What a surreal depiction of the wild west.
