personally I think unless there's a massive difference in price. I feel most people still lean towards the DJI because of its reputation and support ....
I think that they are identical drones made by DJI under a new name just in case they are band from being sold in the US. That’s what I honestly think. 🤨
@@Matanumi Too many dji drones are shipped to Russia and Ukraine, that's why both US and Chinese govt are urging DJI to stop doing that. And then dji got a shell to keep the business.
Keep up this great work Jack! It sure appears that they are twins. You mentioned that you were geofenced with the Specta. Is there a procedure for unlocking and flight approval from Cotigo?
What is the chance DJI is making this drone?? I wonder if they feel the US banned is coming and this may be their way around it? Up until now nothing has been close to the DJI stability and performance so it has me thinking....
I just watched a vid on 51 Drones about a full PRC drone ban for everyone in the US and the preliminary implementation date of 1/1/2025 was floated in one of the documents shown in the video. If it is implemented, DJI is definitely on the top of the list. Hopefully it won't extend to Autel Robotics and Fimi if it is implemented.
I asked the same thing in the last video and they are not compatible with each other. It makes me wonder why but I think profit is probably the motivator.
Rumor is it's updating via the DJI CDN. The details of the manufacturing and branding may be opaque but the probability is extremely high that it's essentially the same device. You can be sure that DJI would come down like a ton of bricks on anyone randomly selling a clone of the drone, the controller, the app, and even the manual! So, there's a purpose involved, and so-called "white label" devices are not an uncommon marketing strategy in many industries. Since this version apparently doesn't offer the DJI extended support options, it may be aimed primarily at other market segments. I tend to doubt that it's a serious attempt to avoid (theoretical) consumer U.S. bans. The probability of a broad consumer-level ban of these drones being passed and surviving court challenges is very low, and it wouldn't fool regulators anyway.
I agree w/you saying that it's very low probability that DJI would be completely banned. If you look at the bill tracker for (I think it's H.R. 2864), it shows 1% chance.
Is there something about the DJI Air3 that a company would actually clone it to get a pie share or to make the DJI a one to own. Or the DJI Air3 is that popular a drone
DJI Air 3 in this same config: $1399. Specta: $1,199. I'd opt for the DJI but that's just me. This is fun to see this comparo through. It's disappointing the batteries are not interchangeable though.
You can not get them in the same configs. DJI with this remote is flymore only and the Specta has no RC-N2 option. They are the same DJI drone but DJI has locked out accessories like batts and some features with firmware on the Spectas.
Great comparison Jack. It sure looks like they are essentially the same drone. It will be interesting what kind of support is available with Specta. Appreciate you putting this together!
I really appreciate the comparison shots and videos. Thank you for your valuable time to put this together. Unlike the other commentor, I don't care about the insides being the same if the controls work as well or better, and the media is equivalent quality or better . Why would I care about the insides? But looking at the output on these comparison shoots on a T.V. flat screen, I don't think it's bias to say the DJI looks sharper (more accurate). The smaller twigs on the trees were more distinguishable on DJI, but appear as gray mass (blur) on Specta... IMHO.
I'm glad to see that they are basically the same drone for roughly the same price. So basically this is just a "Congress Dodger Air" drone. (One of these DJI shell companies should straight up come out with model numbers that start with CD for congress dodger.) Anyway, it's good to know that we'll have some alternatives when this stupid law passes. I think we just have to get used to the name of the drone company changing with the day of the week. The biggest loss will of course be the replacement plans if you currently pay for those.
Initially couldn’t tell, but eventually DJI, as usual to my eye and preference, seems over contrasted(blues & greens over done), which in turn also darkens the image.
To my eye (40 years amateur/semi-pro photographer) the DJI camera borders on being overexposed in the light and underexposed in the shadows. Your comment about contrast and color balance play out in that regard.
Thank you for taking the time to put the comparison together and have a question on the Geo lock. I occasionally fly in what is considered an Enhanced Warning Zones by DJI. DJI GEO would prompt me at the time of flight to unlock the zone using the same steps as in an Authorization Zone... but I don't require a verified account or an internet connection at the time of my flight. Does Specta give you the same or similar ability to request an unlock? Also, does the Specta require you to setup an account before flying the drone and the ability to upload flights?
In the beginning of the video when you compared drone A & B, I thought drone B was a hair better in video quality. Overall though they are both so close that if Drone A (spectra) was more inexpensive, I would buy it,
i like the look of the air 3 without the name and logo on it. pretty neat. tbh id probably buy one over an air 3. especially with the us gov trying to ban dji drones.
Hi, I love DJI products and own a Mavic 2, I am thinking of upgrading to an Air 3, however now I learn about a similar product the Specta Air and both looks the same!, Are both companies collaborating? Already got an answer from another video and they said No there's no collaboration or affiliation. Can someone confirm? Anyway everyone knows that Chinese love to copy someone else's work in this case, it seems Specta copied DJI, it seems there's no laws which prohibits that in China and no one minds it. Which means it would come down to price. I want the Air 3, but if Specta Air is priced less and is more affordable, I could lean towards the Specta Air.
Wow, this is getting interesting. We went from “no one is even close to DJI”, now we have these duplicates. It doesn’t seem to be a huge difference. 🤔🤔🤔🤔 I have my thoughts on this but I am not sharing yet.
Ok so, thank you for the videos. Having said that, the only way to know for sure is to disassemble them both and see if the inside components are the same. Thats what we all want to see, not more videos on how they fly or record similarly.

There was no absolute need to carbon copy the dji air 3 as it is. Specta should have designed their drone differently. And how's DJI silent in this matter 🤔

The shear fact that Specta is offering a package that DJI won't because they get too hung up on marketing ploys is spectacular! Being able to get the drone with a battery and the RC-2 for $1,100 vs a freaking fly-more combo for $1,500+ Maybe this will eventually force DJI to stop the B.S.😅
