I’ve got the Strathberry East West bag, and it definitely taught me a lesson. I pay much closer attention to how a divider affects a bag’s capacity, and now I know I prefer one large compartment. ❤
I kind of knew it before but now I really really know it haha. The dividers drive me crazy! Seems cheaper and easier to not insert them while making the bag 10 times more functional 🙈😂
I have the East/West bag too and while I can fit my essentials in it for a night out it’s way too small to use as a day bag. Given how small the normal one is I feel that I would have to have rocks in my head to buy the mini.

Great video! There were a few bags on my radar, but I wasn’t sure how much they could hold. I’m unable to see them in person so I rely heavily on videos like this before purchasing bags online as I no longer live in a big city. My one ask is that if you could mention which phone you have, that would be so helpful! I have the biggest IPhone currently available, and just like you, whether my phone fits determines whether or not I’ll purchase a bag. I have the small iseeu peekaboo and I absolutely love it! I can wear it cross body and it doesn’t stick out much.
Amie I really think you’ll love the Fendi Mini Peekaboo! It’s small enough but it fits A LOT (it fits a mini umbrella!) I love mine so much.

This was really interesting but mini bags aren’t my jam. It would be so helpful and interesting if you could do a video like this for both medium bags and totes. It’s many years since you did a video on totes and it would be good to get your opinion on some of the newer ones in your collection.

I have the small size peekaboo and the petite size. I would say the small/mini peekaboo fits a lot! It may look small but capacity is very good! The petite size one to me is the equivalent of a cute looking mini bag that is aesthetically pleasing but not practical for daily use unless all you need is just tissue, keys and lipstick.

Hey Amie! Thanks for listing out the pros and cons of the bags. Just wondering if you have an issue with the zipper, can you take it to the Saint Laurent boutique and get it fixed by them? I had an issue with my LV Neo Noe zipper being stuck and they fixed it at no charge

I purchased the YSL mini Lou (exactly like yours!) from Bergdorf Goodman and it had the same zipper issue. Also, it smelled horrible! So cute but had to return. Great video, very informative. Thanks!!

I have the next size up Fendi peekaboo and it's my go to bag for nights out. cute and small enough for an evening bag, but it fits my essentials and a few bits more that always we seem to need at the last minute, right? also, i remember when i bought it, the SA told me that it is indeed an evening bag.
I have the same bag (27cm width) and I use it as every day bag for work. Inside I fit without any problems 2 phones, lipsticks, compact powder case, tissues, air pod case, keys and Victorine wallet.

I have the Saint Laurent Lou camera bag in black and have the same issues with the zipper! I don't find it to match the quality I'd expect for the price, plus since the strap isn't adjustable and I'm short I find myself reaching for it less often. Will definitely be selling it sometime
someone wrote you can try bribging it to the store and they fixed it. my suggestion was to use a colorless chapstick

Great video and so helpful. I’ve been considering the YSL gaby but I can’t decide between the white of black. I will be moving soon to Florida but currently living in the part of the states where it’s getting cold here in DC. So I don’t know what to do. It will be my grab and go… any thoughts?

So I wouldn't be concerned with the cold so much as the heat with lighter coloured bags. I find that heat is more likely to have a negative impact on a white bag - just because there always seems to be more sweat/ stickiness/ liquids around in hot temperatures haha!
If you're thinking purely of practicality, then black is always going to win. That said, I LOVE my white bags and I would still buy them even if I lived in a really hot/ humid climate. I would just be careful. So it's really a personal thing as to how careful you can/ want to be with your bag. Some people don't want the hassle, but for me - I don't mind the extra care in order to get a colour I really love.
I like the Lou but I don't love love it. I think for me, I want a style like that to be quite multi-functional and I just wish it fit a little more. Saint Laurent do another camera bag which is a little too big IMO (I feel like goldilocks here haha) and I would prefer something in between. I don't mind small bags but they have to be fit for purpose. Like the Gaby is fantastic because it's as slim as a WOC but fits way more. It's one of those 'I barely notice I'm wearing it' bags. The Lou on the other hand is much bulkier without fitting much more 🤷🏻♀️

Yeah i can see the Saint Laurent Jamie bag that can really attract a lot of dust, dog's hairs. Oh God can't remember what is your dog's name..? Think now that she or he have grown a bit older less energetic as compared to when you first got him home. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on all these handbags. Try rubbing the Mini Lou zipper with a white or clear candle. Rub the open zipper on both sides all around, then open and close to spread the wax, and that will make the zipper smooth again. Worked for me with several bags. Hope this helps.
My YSL camera bag has a sticky zip as well and I think twice about taking it out as opening and closing can be cumbersome. Having said that, it is a safe travel bag as no one can get their hands in it😅

I'm surprised that Chanel mini rectangular didnt get mentioned in the mix. I have a mini Lindy and honestly its kinda a shame cos it cant fit in my Samsung ultra S22. My black sunglasses can barely fit in too due to the length.. if only its an inch longer. 😅

Where do you put your bag when driving or sitting passenger? How about going out to dinner or weddings? Can you do a video on a how to put your bag in different social outings?
I'm sure most people will be horrified by this haha but I just put my bags on the floor of the car! When out, if it's a small bag, then I'll put it on the table or chair. If it's a large bag, then I'll put it on the floor after a quick spot check. I try not to be too precious about them and I've rarely had any issues :) xx

There is not a lot out there at all. I can’t wait to check it out in person. I am on the market for a mini bag that fits an iphone pro max that comes at a decent price point, this ticked all the boxes!

It's a great style. I'm so happy Saint Laurent is still bringing out models which are under £1000 - it's a smaller and smaller category but the Gaby is such a lovely and functional bag!

Funny thing is, one of the mini bags on my shortlist is the felicie (bicolor) and you said you find gaby more functional and you did not get along with felicie at all . My head says listen to Amie and get gaby, but my heart says get both! Oh dear!!
Haha the felicie is beautiful! But the leather doesn't have much flexibility so it's not very easy to get your items in and out. Would definitely recommend trying one on if you can and asking to pop your phone inside - hopefully it'll give you an idea if you can make it work! :) xx

Loving my East West! Didn't include it in this video because it was too new for me to have a good sense of it. I like to be really *really* familiar with the bags I feature in these comparison videos otherwise I just waffle too much haha!
I sold my east west bag after a few months because not only was it small but also it was really hard to open and close ☹️
It's so frustrating because it's such a pretty bag!

Oh I love the Toy Puffer. I did sell mine just because I prefer the small size but for a crossbody style, I think it's adorable (I just love my shoulder bags too much haha!)
This limiting what you can buy at their overinflated prices blows my mind. I have a fabulous SA and store but that is the only store and SA I buy from. They are great and treat me like a valuable customer. I have never been told I couldn’t buy something but I guess I’ve paid my dues. 20 plus years with the same store and SA gives me some very much appreciated customer service.
It's a strange strategy to me too - it does feel like a lot of luxury customer service has been lost over the years which is so sad!

Have you tried rubbing wax paper along the zipper "teeth" of the Saint Laurent Lou Camera Bag? That might help with the stickiness.

Don't your sunglasses get scratched from no protection inside the bag?
I tend to keep my sunglasses in a pouch in a larger bag but with small bags, I don't find there's too much room for them to move around and get scratched so haven't really found it to be an issue so far 🤞
I’m not a fan of the long style bag, even though the Valentino bag is beautiful. Every time I look at the Coach bag of the same style, I can’t pull the trigger and it coast a lot less than the Valentino. And I prefer a top handle bag.
