Hate seeing all the destruction in southern Cali. I hope and pray all the pixel game squad crew is safe and not in harms way. Thanks for all the great content.
Dude...my husband and I were so heartbroken for our son when Toys R Us was going bankrupt in 2018, we decided to take him to our nearby store that was closing when he was 2 yrs old. We told him we were going to a very special store full of toys and he could pick out a toy he wanted. We didn't know if the experience was going to be lost on him, but I'm telling you, Toys R Us, even in its decline, was so magical, even an autistic 2 yr old understood there's nothing like it. I have yet to see that awe struck expression on his face (lol...I took a ton of pictures of him in his Pikachu hoodie taking it all in) since taking him down the toy aisle in Target (don't get me wrong...he still gets excited), Walmart, or Best Buy. It just hits differently.
I worked for toys r us in 2003 , Loved the jib rode power wheels around the store and basically spent my time playing with stuff in the store. Greatest job I ever had. Even though the pay was bad the job was to much fun to quit
I've had a $75 gift certificate for Best Buy since Christmas before last and I STILL haven't used it because BEST BUY has jack shit unless I want kitchen appliances or a vacuum. Best Buy used to be one of my favorite stores when they sold media, now they are a appliance store
Um you know they have a website right? Also Best buy first and foremost is a common high tech store always was always will be... And I nebver heard of a best buy being so small i8t didn't have a massive media selction similar to wal mart or target but much better with the selction... But yeah like they hve a website you can use tghe gift vcard with... and it has the exact same selction even the biggest best buys do... That I though was normal... But I guess not?
Dude you just went thru my childhood also i grew up going to the south coast plaza mall i went to that best buy soo much i went to the midnight release of GameCube and also the Wii and Xbox 360 and also metro pointe love that place i still go i mean its walking distance from my home like 15 to 20 min walk me and my friends would always hang out there and that target you went too i used to work there but graveyard shift i worked there for 8yrs !! but anyway you brought me back so many awesome memories ! i miss the sears that used to be there i would go down stairs to where the games were at and i would always see a big Nintendo neon sign or rainforest cafe also aw man ! i miss those good ol days love this video man !!!
In San Antonio we used to have a Best Buy, Circuit City, and Comp USA all within a mile of each other near the airport and they all price matched. Sad that Best Buy is the only one left and a shadow of its former self.
I was thinking Riff is going to show walmart a 12 dozen eggs is now cost around 10 dollars because a month ago it was around 5 dollars. Now that is depressing too.
Bringing the ticket up to the Toys R Us counter to pick up a new SNES game with my Christmas or Birthday money are moments seared into my brain from my childhood. These young kids will never know the feeling.
Every time I go to my Best Buy I can feel it being a shell of its former self, especially since they got rid of Blu Rays and their toys/games are so empty and poorly stocked. It seems like all the big box stores are so empty and disorganized. I guess that's what happens when big corporations get greedy and cheap.
Retail is so dead as of late. I feel like it just gets worse and worse. 😬 Just to follow up on my GameStop comment from a while back, I went to my local one last weekend. It had nothing. I had my $5 off coupon and couldn’t even find something I wanted to use it on. 👍 It’s so depressing when you have no real local game stores.
nice throwback RIff and crew!!! the 80's and 90's were such a special time for us!! cartoons. toys. and video games!! the best time for these!! much love!
The magic is definitely gone. I used to go as a kid and just see what was there and hopefully grab something. As an adult, I basically only go when there’s something specific I want.
From my understanding, Best Buy employees don’t get commission for sales. So I think that’s better, because they try to get you a great product in your price range you want to spend, rather than trying to upsell you and or anything like you mentioned.
I was at my local Best Buy the other day just to burn off a reward certificate that was about to expire. I knew coming in I was just getting a portable charger which I did end up getting, but I wanted to browse around for anything else, even if just on impulse. It wasn't a very long walk. No DVD/Blu Ray, no CD. Not even vinyl, which is somehow more "popular." All the games are current gen, which I don't bother keeping up to date. It felt like a ghost town
We still have regular full size Toys R Us stores in Canada. They just announced they're closing a few though so I'm sure down the line there's a chance it goes the way of the U.S stores. But in the meantime anyone who's looking for that nostalgia hit of walking into one I can't recommended enough if you have the means make a trip up here to go to one.
Riff, you really try hard to tug at our hearts man! Great video as usual! Toys “R” Us and Kaybee Toys will always be the two stores that make me sad that they are gone. 😢
I can't stress how sad it makes me to see any Best Buy these days, mine used to have rows upon rows in the center with physical media. DVDs and Blu-rays upon days... Side note, are there TH-cam Emmy's? I'd seriously think of submitting some of your narrated videos Riff. Amazing work.
I was just in my Best Buy and I would give it a one or 10%. They did not have what I wanted which was an rca 8 port plug so I could plug all my old gaming consoles in. Hope you are all safe out there.
Storefronts aren’t making as much of the money off physical games as they want too so most establishments are cutting ties with physical media in general. We’re seeing this with movies, music and now games. Granted games are hanging on by a string of life support and is still somewhat kicking but I’m sure it won’t last long sadly. We’re in the depressing age of digital media and we can’t do anything but watch as we lose the stuff we love.
We would usually go to stereo system area and check out the speakers. You could play different car cd players and speaker combinations. Only best buy is an hour away I definitely haven't been there in over 15 years probably
Sadly a lot of the good retail stores are gone, mostly because people would rather buy online then going out and shopping for their stuff. I was born in 1971 and the 70's, 80's and the 90's was way better than now. Talk about how colorful things were in the 90's, they were just as colorful in the 80's as well. I had read an article on social media that Walmart plans on closing down their self serve check out counters, so if the article is true, because they say theft is at an all time high, especially out here in Northern California, im sure it is where you are in Southern California, but if it's true that Walmart plans on turning those self check outs back into regular check outs with employees at the register, than I'm assuming, yes I said I'm assuming that Target will follow suit, whether this is all still true is up in the air at this point who knows. Your Best Buy is better than most where I live in Santa Clara California, one I used to like going to in Milpitas California, I no longer like shopping there, mostly because they turned half of the store for online order shelves that is dedicated for just that online order's, so it sucks, cause to me it doesn't look like a Best Buy when clearly it is. When I first walked into the change a couple of year's ago, I asked why they sudden change they said after the state was pretty much closed down during covid, and the only thing they did to survive was to keep the store closed for customers, but allowed everyone to buy online, and when you showed up to get your order's, you were told to line up in your vehicle's, and they would check your online order, use their 2 way communicators and have someone in the store get it and bring it out to you in the section at the curb in front of the store, and only 5 car's where allowed up at the curb, if all 5 spots where already occupied, you had to wait in the parking lot and keep an eye out for an opening in one of the 5 spots they had, just to get your order, so I guess after things had opened up again in early 2021, and you still had to wear those stupid masks, not many people were shopping at the location inside, so they decided at that point to convert half of the store for online order shelves, cause people were either too scared to get covid, or just figured it was too much of a hassle dealing with staff, and other customers, you can still shop in store, but it looks nothing like the Best Buy in your video, yes I do shop at Best Buy, but I go to other Best Buy's but the other's just don't have much either, so it's pretty much a hassle for me just to shop their, and not worth my time, I give my Best Buys 2 star's if that
Tokyo stores still has that retail wonder. They’re stuck in the 2000s which I love lol if you walked into a store in Akihabara it’ll bring you back to the good days ahaha
The downfall of in store shopping is a little depressing. Toy isles really not fully stocked most times. Toys R Us as a section in Macy’s definitely not the same. Hope you n the family n Squad doing well. 🙏🏼 prayers for LA and the fire victims.
Last time I went to best buy they had only 5 to 7 ps5 games and xbox and Nintendo switch games. No movies. I ask for something if they have it. No but you can order it online. I said if i only order things online how long do you think you're going to be open. I don't know. That was 2 years ago

I think they are pretty far from all the fires

I used to go to Best buy for 4k movies all the time but haven't been since they got rid of physical media
Same here and it would make me walk around the rest of the store just to check things out
In San Antonio we used to have a Best Buy, Circuit City, and Comp USA all within a mile of each other near the airport and they all price matched. Sad that Best Buy is the only one left and a shadow of its former self.

Best. Feeling. Ever.
Amazon is so funny, they were working on a feature that would allow you to shop shelves in VR 😂
Target is awesome with that 75% clearance. Also, that mini leaf blower might be the first sponsor i'm interested in 🤔
Every time I go to my Best Buy I can feel it being a shell of its former self, especially since they got rid of Blu Rays and their toys/games are so empty and poorly stocked. It seems like all the big box stores are so empty and disorganized. I guess that's what happens when big corporations get greedy and cheap.
After my local Best Buy got rid of physical media last year, they just replaced it all with overstock merchandise! Nothing interesting at all!
Retail is so dead as of late. I feel like it just gets worse and worse. 😬 Just to follow up on my GameStop comment from a while back, I went to my local one last weekend. It had nothing. Lol that was my childhood best buy too! I would play hooky and go to the movies right in front
For my son!
Apparently this triggered a memory for pammy where she almost got banned for hanging out too much in the magnolia theater section with friends lolol
The magic is definitely gone. I used to go as a kid and just see what was there and hopefully grab something. As an adult, I basically only go when there’s something specific I want.
Stores are DYING in terms of video games here in the UK. Most supermarkets stopped selling games
It's part of the reason I don't even go out anymore, I hate being at home all the time, I want a reason to go out again
Fav Part Has To Be The Epic Riff Dance😂 16:48

It’s fault of Amazon and e-commerce in general.
From my understanding, Best Buy employees don’t get commission for sales. So I think that’s better, because they try to get you a great product in your price range you want to spend, rather than trying to upsell you and or anything like you mentioned.
I like that dumb and dumber toy. I like it A LOT 😂
I see what you did there 🤓
Hope the squad and your families are all safe with the fires.. prayers out for you the squad and all your families riff
Riff please never change. Keep doing your thing.

5:56 These Street fighter jada toys figures are some of my favorites right now. They make mega man ones too! Highly recommend checking them out!😊

I have a similar airblower to the one in the video. It‘s really useful to clean computers.

Brick and mortar stores make me sad nowadays. Lack of variety, empty aisles, no midnight releases.
i love seeing places being that i am from the other side of the world (philippines). thanks for showing us around.
Hello from California my friend 🤍
Eh bro…you promised Gabo…where is thy Gabo?
Probably yeeting NES cartridges somewhere 😂
best buy should think about expanding to lawn mowers
Target and Walmart filled somehow void that was left after toys r us.
Toys R us is still a thing in Canada if you feel like you need a fix. Our one in Lethbridge is still the same building it always was
We would usually go to stereo system area and check out the speakers. You could play different car cd players and speaker combinations. Only best buy is an hour away I definitely haven't been there in over 15 years probably
5:57 Woaaah that super mario world mario & yoshi lego set is amazing!!😍
Im not a legos guy at all but thaaat mofo is bringing back memories!!🥰
I'm surprised an AT&T sales associate didn't approach you at Target to ask you how much are you paying for your cell phone service.

One of the things I would mention about Best Buy is they stopped selling 4k, Blurays and dvds. I feel like video games are next 😢
Seems like the return /customer service the most popular department so many people regret buying stuff.
Dude, the retail experience sucks without physical media and stores dedicated to games, tech, music, and toys.
come to the 51st state we still have Toys“R”Us but it's not like it was in the 90's
When he said "stop whatcha doing" i thought he was gonna start singing the humpty dance
🕺🕺🕺
@2:25 Knob to the arcade stick is missing 😂
gracias sucks the situation for muchos things amigo
thank you for the upload ❤
Just come to Canada we still have full size Toys "r" us.
Yeah theres not many Retail stores left that are worth visiting, least Scotland, unless they're small business
I couldn’t stop what I was doing because I had hot food that could burn (cooking) but I actually wanted want of these things - sold!!
Tokyo stores still has that retail wonder. They’re stuck in the 2000s which I love lol if you walked into a store in Akihabara it’ll bring you back to the good days ahaha
The dance moves are incredible. You should do a full dedicated video to dancing in public.... Take us around and dance in random places lol
But im loving the nostalgic videos of you taking us around and remembering the good old days. Keep it up!
Omg hahaha I lowkey can’t 😝 I can do it for like 2 seconds when nobody is looking 🤣
I like Best Buy. They match competitor prices and returns and exchanges are easy to do if you have an account with them
16:53 you've got the coolest jeans every video, how do you find such well fitting vintage jeans, consistently???
Me: "Can we have flossing?"
Mom: "We have flossing at home"
The Flossing at Home: *16:48*
I’ll take it
Hitting those good nostalgia vibes 🥰
Hope you guys are safe!
No store will ever be like Toys r Us you knew you were in a Toys r Us
Dumb and Dumber find is awesome. My favorite movie!
my retro pixel game squad

Here in the UK we still have Smyths Toys Superstores, similar to Toys R Us
TH-camr picks up TH-camr merch!
"That's why my physical media collection is now complete!" "Muahahahahahahaha!"
There was a switch right behind you to play when you said there are no systems to put your hands on. Ha!
That duster hit em
I like dust on my gadgets, it makes them feel more retro like back in the 90s when we didn't have electric dust removers 😂
Omg I’m the opposite hahah even as a kid im OCD with cleaning 🧼
Got my Pokémon Silver from your Whatnot! Works great!
Last time I went to best buy they had only 5 to 7 ps5 games and xbox and Nintendo switch games. No movies. I ask for something if they have it. No but you can order it online. I said if i only order things online how long do you think you're going to be open. I don't know. That was 2 years ago
Thats funny, here in Canada we complain about having only self checkout and no open cash register haha😂 self checkout is sort of new here
Don't pretend that cd's are gone or old
I actually watched the ad and think it's a great product. Also, 80s and 90s toys r us was awesome. So was KB toys!
Not gonna lie Riff...
I'm kinda disappointed you didn't do the Joker dance on those stairs outside of the movie theater lol.
Dang good call 🤣
My kids love Lanky Box
Same... but their videos are just one giant commercial for their merch. So annoying...
If only billionaires would spend their money bringing back money losing businesses like ToysRus !
Surprised you still have a toys-r-us. All of them closed in cities around my area. Kaybee toys also.
Let's go Riff ❤❤❤
Hello!
Used to play the whole of rock band in best buy

You're like Caleb with Chipotle...
25 years everything will be online no more brick and mortor
does anyone know what that song at the end of the video is?
Yooo is your van manual transmission?? If so i didnt think they would make vans like that in standard....
