+schmoesknow Am I the only one who is a bit put off by Han Solo having a wife? Idk, it just seems like a bit too much of a stretch for such a character to have a wife before Leia sort of...tamed him. xD
+Mr Justice Not bad, I like everything except the mask. I can't help but feel the bands across the brow look like some fancy shades a pop star would wear, it looks like a blinged-up paint ball mask. Personally I just with they went a different direction with it. Also, I think it looks NOTHING like Revan's mask, the only connection is that the mask is worn with a hood. Not complaining though, I'm just more interested in the character's origin, motivation and outcome.
+Sean “WeaponX18” Drake Don't forget about Boba Fett. Everyone wants Boba Fett to be in every side story and tie-in. He's not that great of a character. He didn't do anything to earn his popularity other than have a "cool costume", but his costume is no different than any other Mandalorian. Can we just leave Boba Fett in that Sarlacc Pit where he belongs?
I mean when it comes to the episodes I'm fine with that because that's the story is about that family but when it comes to everything else I completely agree show us other stuff, even though I am actually pretty excited for the Han Solo movie
+Sean38529 I'm not saying it will be the same... but remember Darth Maul? It's not all about appearances, it's all about origin, motivations and outcome.
+Rogue Qall true and that's why I said if his character is as awesome as he looks. And it sounds like we are getting someone with a back story and depth.
Sean38529 I have high hopes for the film in general, so I'm also hoping Kylo Ren will be as fully realised as any other character. For me the question is whether he will be an outright antagonist or habouring a conflicted nature. His costume does look cool, not such a fan of the mask but he definitely appears to have a great visual presence. His lightsaber looks great, I love the angry flaming, spitting blade look of the blade itself.
I would love to see Charles Dances in a Star Wars film. He has proven that he can be a great and menacing villain with his performance in Game of Thrones and I would to see him play a high ranking member of The First Order. Not a copy of Tywin Lannister, but a powerful, formidable (maybe one of the last Sith Lords) foe to challenge our new heroes.
I think if they do a digital recreation of Tarkin and keep it to a hologram communication with Vader or someone else that they can pull it off. They won't need that complete human realism needed like they tried (and failed) in Tron or Terminator. In my opinion, it really comes down to how they use the digital Tarkin. What do you guys think?
+Dallas Ludlum I'm going to set my percentage that they are siblings at 95%. Furthermore, I think the rumor that the episode 8 female lead will NOT be a solo at all.
Episode seven is the story of Kylo Ren, it just clicked in my mind, JJ said Ren is the anti Luke, instead of it being a story about a good guy (the light side) its main core will be about the new Sith "the Knights of Ren" Anthony Daniels said, This is the darkest one yet..... Just a thought, comments?
I wonder if maybe if they are using a CGI Tarkin it could be something like the Vadar/Emperor scene in Empire where they are talking via holograms. That could give them a lot more leeway in getting it right.
Two things I wanted to bring up. Great episode, by the way. First, in your opposition to them recreating Peter Cushing as Tarkin for Rogue One. IT wouldn't be the first time that film makers resurrected a long dead actor for a role in order to provide continuity, and in this case, continuity which is leading directly into a movie that the character had a major role in. If you remember, they recreated Marlon Brando as Jor El in Superman Returns, and it worked very well. And this was how many years ago? Second, as for the the Episode VIII rumor about the new actress potentially being a Solo child, possibly Jaina. That might work only if "Rey" is not actually Jaina and not a Solo child. This is because, while Han and Leia did have three children in the EU, as John mentioned. They only had ONE DAUGHTER. Their other two children were SONS, Jacen and Anakin. And yes, I am still of the mind that they should not have essentially "jettisoned" the EU, and they should have Jacen and Jaina, Anakin Solo, Ben Skywalker, as well as Mara Jade, Corran Horn, and other much beloved characters from the EU all part of these new movies, as well as the history established in the EU. Even though the movies themselves will not be specifically adapting any individual story from the EU, they should still ACKNOWLEDGE those events as HAVING HAPPENED.
It has been discussed for a while now whether Rey's character will be related to Han Solo. At the Comic Con discussion (11/07/2015, 25:00 - 27:00), ( you can find this on TH-cam) JJ Abrams quoted that the characters of Fin and Rey were not written with skin colour in mind. Therefore Rey could have been of another race, hence not related to Han.
Michael Doulgas make up in ANt Man didn't look "pretty good" it looked INCREDIBLY AWESOME... I'm kinda tired of this automatic bashing of CGI, it's getting really old and it really is a very shallow complaint. Anywho, love the show and love STAR WARS.
+Marky Baloogah it is still a very shallow complaint to me. and an easy one, to boot... nowadays it seems everybody is a CGI expert and it is really annoying.
ComandoPadentro I don't worry about CGI looking authentic, it will look great. I just worry that if they overuse it, the actors will have nothing to work with and end up being bland, monotone and emotionless performances. (Just like the prequels). I doubt this will happen, but I won't be getting my hopes up to unreachable heights.
John Campea mentioned the first episode(s) of Rebels. I know exactly what it is he is talking about that made him feel so good about it. It was the sound bytes of the TIE fighters and explosions. I graduated college last May, and my audio professor worked for Skywalker Sound. I asked him if he had seen the promos for Rebels before the show even aired, and he said no. When I mentioned the sound bytes, he paused and said, "I know exactly who is working on the sound engineering. Those are definitely the exact same sound bytes that Ben Burtt created." So there ya go! Pure, unaltered, clean audio from 1977.
I think Kylo and Rey are 95% related in some way. Whether its as siblings or as cousins. Btw, I beilve the concept art at 55:00 is actually Rey, Finn and Kylo. Before Finn became black and Kylo's design changed.
I'm split on using a CG Tarkin because they don't really need him like they did in the original movie. Though if they want to make him pop up on a communication hologram it's fine, and they can just use a voice actor to do the lines.
I think Rey will have more than one sibling in the series. Maybe even Billy Lourde (Carrie's daughter) will play a solo sibling who knows. Kathleen Kennedy and others have emphasized the word "family" in past interviews. Kathleen mentioned how Daisy Ridley fitted well for the part because she always like to mention her real family (her sisters) all the time. Ian McDiarmind mentions "Father's and sons" as one of the themes in the previous films. Maybe one of the main themes in this series is "Siblings" or "Brothers and sisters" Love the Jedi Council channel even though I have to watch your videos on 1.25X or 1.5X speed because of my time. But it's amusing hearing your guys with high pitched voices. haha
I think the black helmet is less likely to be anything pertaining to Vader and the force, and more likely, and hopefully, to be the helmet design of the Imperial Commandos, the Empire's continuation of the Republic commandos (the special forces of the clone army, as seen in the Star Wars: Republic Commando video game). I think it fits more in line with the 'war film' tone Rogue One is going for, plus it would be a great way to re-introduce a fan favorite aspect of the old EU that never got fully expanded upon besides two episodes of The Clone Wars and a novel.
I agree with John for the most part about the making the universe smaller thing but when it comes to the episodes I want to follow sky walkers and solos that's who the episodes have always been about so in that case I actually think it's a must
IDEA OF HOW REN BECOMES A SITH: you mentioned in a previous episode that you expect to see Korriban at some point in these new set of movies he could be tutored or at least learn from either a force ghost of a sith (which would be interesting because force ghost are already established in cannon) or he finds a library or a temple or something to the sith that almost mirrors what the jedi had and he finds texts(which would be cooler because it would show how ancient the sith are) or holocrons of sith training in the days before they were only set to the rule of two and figures that after hes done these tasks for a force ghost of a some long dead sith or doing what these early sith rituals say he thinks he has the right to claim the title of darth or it is bestowed upon him by this force ghost (just an idea so please don't rage at it people) that said i do like the plagueis idea ;)
As far as Mads Mikkelson goes, my favourite performance of his is in Jagten, or The Hunt. He plays the main protagonist. Heartbreaking film and incredible acting. Highly recommend.
Dear John, 2/3 of December is actually in the Fall. Winter doesn't actually start until Dec. 21st and since TFA comes out Dec. 18th it's a part of Empire's Fall Movie Preview.
Been watching you guys on movie talk for ages but i've been loving the Jedi Council recently , gave you guys a shout out on my new Star Wars Special, breaking down all trailers and providing info on heroes, vehicles, dlc, planets etc. Keep up the good work!
john, your idea about Vader founding the knights of ren is awesome, it makes the Vader worshiping make sense and it also makes sense that Vader would establish a dark side using order to take down the sixth who he can rule! it really works!
There's only one current actor I can think of that could replace Peter Cushing as Tarkin. His name is Peter Capaldi. Sure, Capaldi would have to fix his hair just right, but he's the only one I can think of.
Great show today! I completely agree concerning Tarkin. They should not use CGI to recreate Peter Cushing. Also, even if they could do it, what would they do about dialogue? Now, concerning Rey, Kylo Ren etc. I believe that at least one of these characters will be related somehow to the Skywalker line whether by Leia or Luke. Rey, I feel, is the most likely candidate for this although Kylo has a good chance as well. Lastly, as far as Plagueis is concerned, there is a good chance that he could be Snoke. While I would love to see Palatine's master on screen, my issue would be that Palpatine could be overshadowed. If Plagueis was in fact successful in cheating death, why did he not interfere in his apprentice's plans? Why wait this long to return? Regardless, I am very intrigued with the Snoke character as well as Kylo and the Knights of Ren. I agree with the panel that Kylo won't be a Sith at first but will later become one.I'm fairly certain however, that Snoke is a Sith Lord and will be pulling the strings of The First Order. Thanks for another awesome episode guys!
Rian Johnson did a great job of making Joseph Gordon Levitt look like young Bruce Willis in Looper. I know he's not directing Rogue One but those methods can be applied to Tarkin
I take issue with the assessment of Tron Legacy. I say that because if you watch the movie skipping when we see Jeff Bridges in the real world in the beginning of the movie the character Clu looks great. Especially the scene when he gets to Flynn's layer. Maybe it all works because they are in the computer world and thats why the earlier Yong Flynn sticks out. But it works in the computer world.
People are too caught up on Rey being a Solo. It's just a hot rumor, and what people wish to see. I think there is a chance her surname is one we already know, but if that's the case, I think it's more likely that she's a Skywalker and she's more likely spending the film trying to locate her true dad as opposed to just "returning Luke's lightsaber" Or..... She's an entirely new character and her and Finn start a NEW family line that continues in the eventual episode 10-12. Before I saw this video I was already under the impression that it's possible Darth Vader himself, started the Knights of Ren and Snoke was his apprentice who took over and seduced Vader's grandson and Kylo became obsessed with finishing what Vader started. I believe Solo's kid WILL be introduced in Episode 8, and that she's Kylo's sister and also Poe's eventual love interest with rumors that Han starts to like Poe, and that General Hux will be the big reveal as Luke's son (If Rey isn't a Skywalker) in Episode 7 in an epic scene that shows him protecting/saving Finn and Rey from Kylo Ren when he activates his Blue saber. Basically I think the OT character's offspring will mostly be background characters to the NEW heroes, and it would make sense in my opinion instead of them having us believe Ridley and Boyega who are playing characters in their early 20s are children of 70 year old Solo and old ass Luke. I believe Rey and Finn are new characters and serve as the "anakin and padme" while Hux is Ben Skywalker, and Kylo is a Solo kid, who potentially kills off Luke in episode 8 to ascend to the "Darth Vader" level by killing vader's son to push the story forward. I would be super excited if this was the case. I just think some people are too caught up in the rumors.
Thanks. If I'm not mistaken I remember reading about the writers tweaking the original script by Lucas, and making alot of changes to it, while we were all caught up in the frenzy with the title reveal, casting reveals, and leaked concept arts. I believe the reasoning they gave was that Lucas's original script had less focus on the OT characters, and mostly focused on the "kids" I know people probably took that as meaning more Jar Jar Binks or little 9 year old Anakins running around, but I took it to mean that the script was heavily focused on the offspring of the OT characters. Disney probably wanted to move away from making the universe THAT small when they are just getting started with expanding the Star Wars universe which is why I wouldn't be surprised if these are all new characters (Except for Kylo)
Super crazy theory here but I'd like to know what you guys think. What if the Knights of Ren aren't just Vader fanatics but they have been tasked by Snoke AKA Plagueis to resurrect Vader using force relics. This would explain Kylo's obsession with finding them and with the image of Vader's skull in his mask in the trailer. What do you think?
Palpatine did say that Plagueis was so strong in the force he could even bring those he cared about back from the dead. Who better to bring back than the most powerful Sith in the known universe. Darth Vader. Just a thought.
This whole CGization of Tarkin is gonna be a very VERY touchy process which will require careful baby steps. If this new CGI process is gonna break new ground in technology, then I'm open to it so long as Tarkin isn't gonna be a huge role in Rogue One. However it is simpler to simply recast him with a different actor and just dub his voice over with Stephen Stanton who's voiced Tarkin on The Clone Wars and Rebels and did a FANTASTIC job. I mean listening to him I had forgotten for awhile he wasn't Peter Cushing. That's how GOOD he was. I'd say 96-97 percent match with Cushing's voice. If you're gonna go CG route then get Stanton in on the voice.
+Alex Smith Darth Plagueis is a Muun, so far the only concept art of Snoke is of a Muun ... it's entirely possible though I doubt it will happen. It would involve too much going back to past movies which thankfully is what I reckon these movies are avoiding doing too much.
Let me first say I'm NOT saying Kylo Ren is Revan. However I feel like the "Knights of Ren" may be one of the most genius misdirects ever. It's hiding in plain sight. Who is "Ren" and why does he have a following? Wouldn't it make a little more sense if you added a "V" and an "A" in there?. . . They're followers of Revan's teachings. Even when Revan and Malak had multiple dark side acolytes/Sith under them there was only 2 who held the title of "Darth". All of this would make sense if that's the case. Snoke is the only official "Darth" and Kylo Ren is trying to "graduate" if you will. Obviously just speculation but I feel like there's going to be a tie in or at the very least a reference. LOVE the show!!!!!!
great the show guys & the love, passion that just comes from u really has made me understand star wars to another level thank you so much saying that cant wait for the movie obi-whan is my favorite character so seeing him again would be awesome.
I LOVE the idea of Vader creating the Knights of Ren as his own accolytes since there's the constant power struggle between him and the Emperor. However, as far as the helmet goes, I believe it's more of a tie-pilot helmet, be it a stealth or high-speed attack one.
+Marchie Monroe They actually won't be valuable because so many people will collect them and keep the issues pristine. The value mainly comes from how rare these items are. They are cool looking though!
At about the 4 minute Mark, Jon said he was wondering when December became a part of fall. Technically it is fall until the solstice on the 21st or 22nd. Star wars comes out the 18th, so technically...
Holy crap I can't stop laughing, I could explode.. Mark Ellis looks kinda like the little boy from Spy Kids... I absolutely love this show and hearing from this group of guys but maybe the vest brought me to this conclusion. Save me I can't breathe lol

Kristian you got it right finally Rey is a Skywalker and Not a Solo. Rey's story as much as we know of it follows that of Luke's and Anakin's to much to be a coincidence to just be a joke. all three grew up on a desert planet and are scavengers to a extent. The top of the staff is a lightsaber for sure but i dont think Rey knows that but she has a Force connection to it somehow.
Check out Mads in THE SALVATION. A western were Mads plays a good guy and does an amazing job. Also, Snoke could be Plagueis in the same way that Palpatine was Sidious.
I have to agree with the idea of Star Wars focusing too much on the Solos/Skywalkers. As much as I love those characters, most Star Wars fans will tell you that the Star Wars universe is a vast place, with amazing characters. For those who are hesitant, remember the Clone Wars 2008 series, a lot of its really good episodes were focused on non-skywalker characters(for instance, Plo-koon, or Kit Fisto). Though to be fair, a TV series is different from a movie. Needless to say, branch out and give us original characters who we can fall in love with as much as the original cast. It's this reason that I'd love to see another Star Wars Trilogy that is set before the prequel and original trilogy(kind of like KOTOR/TOR). Being so far removed, you have additional leeway to develop characters and plot lines(I.E the formation of the republic) that can stand on their own, without having the need to try to connect themselves to the events. To clarify, I obviously wouldn't want this trilogy of movies to contradict what has already been established in the two former trilogies. But again, the point about Star Wars being an expansive universe is something I wish to harp on.
how does Kylo Ren being a Solo conflict with previous canon? Kylo = Jacen Rey= Anakin (which doesn't bode well for her, considering what happenned to Anakin in Star By Star. That was such a big event in Legend that I wouldn't be surprised if it somehow didn't get translate in the new canon) Episode VIII daughter = Jaina
I'd be up for a digital recreation of Grand Moff Tarkin. Yes, it'd be fine to get someone else to play him, but just imagine how cool it would be if they could pull this off and the actor was brought back to life! I think it would be awesome!
For all the talk about Ren's saber I do not recall anyone saying that the BLADE looks different. I am going to say Ren and Rey are related but NEITHER are paternally or maternally a Skywalker. If there are offspring of original characters they must be side characters not main characters.
I wouldn't be against a digital Tarkin recreation if it factors in only as a holographic message - Tarkin could send Vader or another Imperial agent a holographic message giving orders and I don't think the CGI would look to bad if this were the case. If Tarkin is to actually feature physically in scenes, then that would make me wary of CGI recreation as it's never looked great in past movies.
They way people feel about the CGI of Jeff Bridges (Tron) Arnold (T:G) is the way I feel about kid shows, and grown-ups) that is CGI. That's why I never got into Clone Wars and Rebels. Maybe I'll give them a 2nd chance depending on episode 7.
Mads should be Thrawn. From those covers, and I've said before, its a Jacen-Jania Solo conflict. It'll be altered for sure, but I'm really hoping this turns out to be the case. All the pics look great.
The three helmets? One on the left is a pilots helmet, actually very closely resembling one of the pilot's helmets in the very first 1977 movie featured in the climatic battle in which the Death Star was destroyed. We could very well see a new Death Star. The middle helmet seems to be a regular stormtrooper one, probably one of vehicle crew / support personnel for the operation and maintenance of a variety of vehicles, AT-AT, AT-ST in Imperial Army. The one on the right seems to be a snow trooper variant. It's not articulated enough to be a speeder bike storm trooper helmet at all. I think none of these helmets are of 'unique' characters, like Darth Vader etc.
What if Vader had different forms of headwear for different purposes? In the comic, Cobra Commander had his cloth mask for his dress uniform, and had the silver face plate helmet for when he was on the field of battle.
I hope Mads Mikkelson plays Kyle Katarn or a similar character. Ex stormtrooper that is now a mercenary for the rebellion. Not a bad guy, but not entirely good either. And it would be a nice nod to the old EU, Kyle being the one to originally steal the Death Star plans (among two or three other people in different stories of course...)
I sat on it for a while, and I'm 95% sure Rey & Kylo are Solo Twins. What if Poe's Mission was to bring back Rey to Leia? Thats why we see him on Jakku, where he's captured while trying to safe some of the villagers from the First Order. It would also make sense to give Han a bigger part in this one. It would make for a really personal and interesting dynamic between Kylo, Rey and Han, especially if Han is indeed going to die. As for Gleeson, I don't think it makes much sense that he's Lukes kid or a spy. How would he end up that high in order?
John, the protagonist of the main Star Wars Saga should always be a Skywalker. It's how they set it up originally and continued in the prequels. I believe that Rey will be the protagonist of the new trilogy and not Finn because she is the daughter of Leia. The Anthology or "Star Wars Stories" can be for new protagonists and characters but the actual Saga is about the Skywalkers.
I'm pretty sure it's a photoshop mixup. You can see the back of the new trooper costumes when Boyega spins around in the first trailer and it's different.
Skywalker Bloodline. New Female Character in Episode VIII. The galaxy is not getting smaller @johncampea it just revolves around the skywalkers. Being the grand daughter of the Chosen One, it is not hard to assume a person will Chosen blood will be a great power in the story. After all, the sith are dead and a handful left of jedis.
Mads Mikelsen as Hannibal Lecter is terryfying good, he's an amazing villan (I like his Hannibal better than Hopkins, yep, I went there) BUT if any of you saw The Hunt, he plays the complete oposite character in that film, a caring loving and broken man. He won at Cannes for his role in The Hunt so, he's phenomenal playing the bad guy and the good guy.
I hope that black helmet is a Stormtrooper commando of some sort, like a Shadow Trooper? It would make sense for the Empire to send special forces after the Rebels, as you said perhaps it's Vader's personal guard. Would be cool to finally see some Stormtroopers who can hit their target haha :D
+James H What were those special elite Storm Troopers from the EU called; Star Troopers or Star Commamdos... something like that. I think they wore all black.
+Ben1159a Storm Commandos? The ones that were basically Scout Troopers but in black? :D They were pretty sweet lookin'! starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Storm_commandos
A CGI Peter Cushing might be one of the few things to stop me watching Star Wars. Luckily being from the UK, I understand totally how reputable a report from the Daily Mail usually is.
The stormtroopers are totally the 'new kind', not the old ones. Based upon what do people think the wrong stormtroopers were photoshopped in? Also, Abrahams really only seemed to have confirmed how the Sith were not organised anymore, without denying Kylo Ren *totally* being on the Dark Side. Abrahams might actually go against canon with his movie by making it appear the Sith are entirely no more (which would be false). Mads Mikkelson as a good guy is a serious mistake also... I hope he'll be a villain or in a more neutral role.
guys, i'm really thinking that staff is a weapon, she was trained in bo staff fighting and also trained how to wield a sword from a choreographer for game of thrones, she said this at a conference in another country, it must be a weapon which points to her being a jedi!!
Just saying with digital re-creation that that is what they did with small bits if F&F7 and the rest was done with his brothers. So in a way it wasa a re-cast but they did recreate Paul in some sequences.
Im now Reading Plagueis and OH MY GOD i want Snoke to be Plagueis soooo bad!! Also i find the way the book is suspended between Canon and non canon adds to the intrigue
IMAX? Oh yea!!!! We don't have many local IMAX screens so they'll sell out. However, they're all reserved seating which helps so you can pre-book. It's going to be FUN.
A strong female character in a movie set 30 years after Jedi...I have another child of an important character that it could be in one of the last EU books there was created a new Wrath Squadron, an offshoot of Rouge Squadron. One of the main characters in that was the Strong Young Daughter of Wedge Antilles. Is it possible that is who she is. It would explain why she wasn't in 7 (assuming Ray and Kilo Ren are Solo kids), as she isn't part of the Solo/Skywalker clan, and it would avoid to a degree Campia's issue of shrinking the Universe as Wedge while a prominent character in the EU is on screen for like maybe 5 mins total in the three films...I think.
The strong female character could be anyone. However, I am curious if this character is related to Han Solo's ex-wife which was mentioned in the, now canon comic book series. I mean they are doing a younger Han Solo movie, what if they're tying these stories together.
Make sure you guys comment, like and start a discussion! Thanks for watching everyone!
+schmoesknow Am I the only one who is a bit put off by Han Solo having a wife? Idk, it just seems like a bit too much of a stretch for such a character to have a wife before Leia sort of...tamed him. xD
+schmoesknow you guys do a great job with this show ! keep it up
He doesn't have a wife
YOUR AWESOME
I know but read the latest issue of Star Wars, not his wife
Anyone else absolutely adore the Kylo Ren costume?
Totaly
+Mr Justice Yup, in fact.. It's been growing on me like a third world disease from the Amazon and Im afraid I will become it soon lol
+Mr Justice My favorite character of the new trilogy so far!!!
+Mr Justice It's pretty much a dumbed down, poor man's Revan costume. But yet they claim he's a Vader fanatic.
I agree with John about stop making the universe smaller with just skywalker and solo families. Its a huge galaxy bring in more characters.
If kylo ren is as awesome as he looks then he might be in the running for biggest badass of 2015 in film.

Not a copy of Tywin Lannister, but a powerful, formidable (maybe one of the last Sith Lords) foe to challenge our new heroes.
***** Saying that it's natural for older men to be attracted to women in their 20s and 30s is not the same as justifying pedophilia

Yes! My Thursday isn't complete without- wait.
lol
But it is Thursday

Two things I wanted to bring up. Great episode, by the way.

IT wouldn't be the first time that film makers resurrected a long dead actor for a role in order to provide continuity, and in this case, continuity which is leading directly into a movie that the character had a major role in.
Did anyone else hear someone yell at 21:50? lol
+Darth Sibistine Loving the thumbnail... all hail Darth Bane!
Yup, totally heard it.
i second firebrand's comment. good to see you again master ;)
Glad they're talking about Mads this week! I was a bit perturbed that they didn't even mention his casting last episode as he's my favorite actor...
+dragonballz fan I think it was both
+ComandoPadentro The prequels have taught us to be wary of CGI overuse
+Marky Baloogah it is still a very shallow complaint to me. and an easy one, to boot... nowadays it seems everybody is a CGI expert and it is really annoying.
ComandoPadentro I don't worry about CGI looking authentic, it will look great. I just worry that if they overuse it, the actors will have nothing to work with and end up being bland, monotone and emotionless performances. (Just like the prequels). I doubt this will happen, but I won't be getting my hopes up to unreachable heights.
Mark2D2 is probably the best nickname ever
John Campea mentioned the first episode(s) of Rebels. I know exactly what it is he is talking about that made him feel so good about it. It was the sound bytes of the TIE fighters and explosions. I graduated college last May, and my audio professor worked for Skywalker Sound. I asked him if he had seen the promos for Rebels before the show even aired, and he said no. When I mentioned the sound bytes, he paused and said, "I know exactly who is working on the sound engineering. Those are definitely the exact same sound bytes that Ben Burtt created." So there ya go! Pure, unaltered, clean audio from 1977.
from what ive read about the empire cover photos, they wanted the incorporate new and old to basically link the themes together
I think Kylo and Rey are 95% related in some way. Whether its as siblings or as cousins.
Btw, I beilve the concept art at 55:00 is actually Rey, Finn and Kylo. Before Finn became black and Kylo's design changed.
That Instagram trailer... My god, that 15 seconds of pure joy was amazing...
They should get Tywin Lannister to play Tarkin instead of a cgi Peter Cushing
4:00 most of december is in fall, so The Force awakens is rightfully in the fall issue.
My nearest imax is 3 hours away in Sydney, looks like I'm going on a road trip in December :D
I'm split on using a CG Tarkin because they don't really need him like they did in the original movie. Though if they want to make him pop up on a communication hologram it's fine, and they can just use a voice actor to do the lines.
I look forward to this show every week, you guys make some great points, and have been looking into some of the books, thanks for everything you do!
i'm not sure how you guys are forgetting Paul Walker's digital recreation in Furious 7,a nearly flawless homage !
Mark Ellis with the vest! Suits and ties for the next show guys!
Maybe one of the main themes in this series is "Siblings" or "Brothers and sisters"
Love the Jedi Council channel even though I have to watch your videos on 1.25X or 1.5X speed because of my time.
Dear John,
2/3 of December is actually in the Fall.
It was actually TASM2 that didn't have a post credit scene and it was like a 1 minute scene from DOFP not a 2 minute trailer
john, your idea about Vader founding the knights of ren is awesome, it makes the Vader worshiping make sense and it also makes sense that Vader would establish a dark side using order to take down the sixth who he can rule! it really works!
There's only one current actor I can think of that could replace Peter Cushing as Tarkin. His name is Peter Capaldi. Sure, Capaldi would have to fix his hair just right, but he's the only one I can think of.
Charles Dance for Tarkin anyone?
Agree with Jhon 100% about Mads playing the Villian
The music when Jedi Council comes on makes me so freakin ready!
I just found your show today! THANKS SO MUCH!
@1:05:00 - Totally agree w/ you on Boba Fett. Best to keep certain things in the mystery. I would hope that the prequels have taught us this!
I think there is a chance her surname is one we already know, but if that's the case, I think it's more likely that she's a Skywalker and she's more likely spending the film trying to locate her true dad as opposed to just "returning Luke's lightsaber"
Or.....
+Rob Gronk Interesting, I like your theory.
Thanks. If I'm not mistaken I remember reading about the writers tweaking the original script by Lucas, and making alot of changes to it, while we were all caught up in the frenzy with the title reveal, casting reveals, and leaked concept arts.
I believe the reasoning they gave was that Lucas's original script had less focus on the OT characters, and mostly focused on the "kids"
I know people probably took that as meaning more Jar Jar Binks or little 9 year old Anakins running around, but I took it to mean that the script was heavily focused on the offspring of the OT characters.
God, I really really REALLY hope that Supreme Leader Snoke ends up being Darth Plagueis.
+Alex Smith supreme Leader Snoke = Joruus C'baoth
ja knadle I doubt it. Snoke is supposed to be some kind of creature/alien
+Alex Smith Plagueis is an alien
kittykatsmash I know. ja knadle bought up Joruus C'baoth who's a human. I was responding to his comment.
The lighting in this episode was great.👌👌
Is it bad that I'm going to buy two of the Empire magazines just because of the variant cover?
+Fanboys United Not at all! Frame those bitches, lol.
Hell no. They'll probably be very valuable in the future.
+Fanboys United It's not like you are going to be the only one xD
+Marchie Monroe They actually won't be valuable because so many people will collect them and keep the issues pristine. The value mainly comes from how rare these items are. They are cool looking though!
+Fanboys United No
At about the 4 minute Mark, Jon said he was wondering when December became a part of fall. Technically it is fall until the solstice on the 21st or 22nd. Star wars comes out the 18th, so technically...
Great episode guys thank you
Holy crap I can't stop laughing, I could explode..

Kylo = Jacen
Rey= Anakin (which doesn't bode well for her, considering what happenned to Anakin in Star By Star. That was such a big event in Legend that I wouldn't be surprised if it somehow didn't get translate in the new canon)
Episode VIII daughter = Jaina
Not the biggest Star Wars fan but this show builds my enthusiasm as we approach The Force Awakens.
Keep it up lads.
Thank you.
Could you guys post a link to the FB Canon page please?
What happened to "address the council"?
Plagueis was also mentioned in the book Tarkin, just to add more canonization.
That timeline graphic is awesome, but "Rouge One"....opps.
Lando is a great comic. Generally, Marvel's current Star Wars comics have been damn good.
Thank god for you guys, dont know where i'd find this class info from people with such knowledge and love for these films(not the prequels).
i would love for you guys to have a meeting with kathleen kennedy and explain what Campea is saying about making the universe smaller.
Yay! One day early! Thanks guys!
Totally agree with John. It's so stupid to release an hour-long Rebels season two show and then make us wait 3 months.
45:50 The misspelled "Rogue One" as "Rouge One" in that picture
When I saw John put on those glasses, was hoping he'd say, "The trunk!? O-o-o-oh no. You DON"T want to look in there."
:D They were pretty sweet lookin'!

what day is it?
+Ze Steve I think only for this week it's Wednesday. It will go back to thursday nextweek.
Saturday
+Ze Steve Empire day
Thursday
Wednesday in Hawaii
Not playing? :(
I'm thinking the Inquisitors become the Knights of Ren
I just became a star wars fan because of you guys! Can't wait about more movie new, need December to come now!
Regarding Mads Playing bad guys, let's not forget he played Tristan in King Arthur.
Practical effects are always better then CG they make film a true art form.go back and take a look at nightmare on elm ST.that film is beautiful
guys, i'm really thinking that staff is a weapon, she was trained in bo staff fighting and also trained how to wield a sword from a choreographer for game of thrones, she said this at a conference in another country, it must be a weapon which points to her being a jedi!!
I reckon the two ewok movies happen between episode III and Episode IV, it explains where leia gets the dress in RoTJ.
IMAX?
