As we all know, Dean's is Italian, and has always done well with Italian food, movies, etc. He's voice is so good, that it even goes well with Mexican/Hispanic/Latino themes.
wow...you really have no idea what talent is. he paved the road for ALL comedians! i can't believe that you (and others) have the NERVE to say things like that! JERRY LEWIS ROX!!!! :D
exactly. i couldn't have said it better myself. ^^ they really do need to keep their mouths shut. hey i did a video response to this one. you should check it out if you like this song as much as i do. :)
Seems that Elvis Presley wasn't the only great singer who sang novelty songs in musical-comedy films. I forgive Elvis because many of the lame songs he sang were actually done well and he knew it was tongue in cheek. Dean Martin, fortunately, had better material here, with Jerry Lewis and Carmen Miranda. I think the producers of Elvis' pictures were trying to recapture this magic -- the way Martin and Lewis did it. Dean had style when he sang and could do it with any song and imbue it with class. There was also something very sexy about Carmen Miranda. Must be the smile and the fiery personality-- she was hot. Great clip from a wonderful movie. Too bad Dean Martin and Elvis Presley never teamed up for a musical-comedy movie. He could have played Elvis' dad, or older brother and the songs would have been fabulous. Good looking women from two generations too. But unlike Frank Sinatra, Dean always mocked rock & roll and didn't come around until decades later. The irony is, there are pictures of Elvis and Dean having a good time together and laughing back in the 60's. I guess once Frank Sinatra, Fred Astaire and Cary Grant said he was a good guy, Dean looked a little closer. He's the one entertainer I thought Elvis could have performed well with and it would have been great. It's almost like -- Dylan couldn't record anything or perform with Woody Guthrie -- but he managed to do it with Johnny Cash sort of thing.
John LaStrada That’s a fascinating idea. Obviously there can never be a film, but I wonder if Dean and Elvis ever recorded the same song that could now, through modern technology, be spliced together to make a duet record? The same way they did with Nat King Cole and Natalie Cole, or Dean and his daughter Deana. I know they did a duets album with Dean and people like Kevin Spacey and Martina McBride in 2007, but the other artists were all still alive so they were able to merge their voices around Deans (who at that point had been dead for 12 years) old recordings. But I don’t know if it would be do-able when BOTH the singers have passed on. If it WAS possible, I’m sure such a record with two such huge stars would sell really well.
Hey, you should jump further back! Because Martin and Lewis, with this whole film, were doing an homage to the Bob Hope and Bing Crosby "Road" movies, which were always full of crazy musical numbers and so many ab-libbed lines a scriptwriter would have gone mad if it hadn't been laughing so hard. Give them a watch sometime! They're great fun.
Lewis was a nasty bully, and very jealous of Dean. Norman Lear wrote about Lewis’s narcissism and the fact that Dean was naturally funnier than Lewis, but Lewis wouldn’t allow him to be. Lewis controlled the writers until Dean threatened to leave if they were not changed. Dean was just too nice a person, but eventually even he’d had enough and left after telling Lewis “you’re nothing but a FN dollar sign to me.” Angie Dickinson said it was “open warfare” between them; Lewis kept pushing Dean out of publicity shots and out of scripts. Lewis never would have made it without Dean and after Dean’s death he just turned himself into ac saint. They never reconciled in spite of Sinatra’s busy body matchmaking. Lewis lied and said Dean had become a reclusive alcoholic when in fact he just didn’t want to see Lewis. Vanity Fair has exposed Lewis as a rapist as well as a bully
I taught my kids this song when they were very young. It's become a family tradition to sing it whenever we eat Mexican food.

When I was 5 years old I used to watch a lot of the Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis movies and this scene was one of my favorites.
I’m Mexican and my dad and I used to watch this and laugh our butts off 😂
Jerry's face when he sings to the little boy is priceless!!
At the end of the video Jerry practically jumped from the height of a close-up o.O he had incredible physical strength!
I think Dean Martin was more than a match
I watched this movie back in 1992 when I was 9 and my grandpa died. I couldn’t sleep that night.

AlwayzKickinIt, did you know Jerry Lewis cut a third musical number Carmen Miranda had done for this film? It was a sin. I'd love to see it.
Too bad Jerry Lewis’s obnoxious duck voice had to ruin it
najgluplja pjesma
I love this movie
