Having no personal military experience, I find it interesting how we're coming full circle back to a LBV as a likely solution to sustainment in the field.

Fighting an asymmetrical war with QRF & big brother doesn’t really require this type of load out unless you’re like a scout sniper team moving alone for days in the mountains. However now, carrying all the kit & sustainment looks to be ideal with the way the battlefield is shaping today.

Because the sweet spot is somewhere in the middle. The industry over corrects and often misses the mark several times before figuring it out.

I was just thinking the same thing. I think some of this circle is brought on by the fact that the GWOT was an unconventional war which brought about historically unconventional gear and tactics. We’re seiPeking tactics and gear come back to old concepts because that’s what works for most of the history of armed conflict.

Just want you guys to know, I ran a 34A setup on the recent Arctic Aloha operation that 2/11 IBCT conducted in Hawaii/Alaska. Two static-line mass tacs onto Hawaii and Malemute less than 48 hours apart, both in-flight rigs; tropical climate straight into arctic climate. I jumped rig exposed.
The 34A is a true beast. I was comfortable as hell and still had everything I needed on me: water, NODs, 148 radio, compass, mag, chem lights, batteries, etc. Even jerry-rigged an EUD mount to it with 550 cord and hung a conformal battery pouch on the loop strap across the back for guaranteed comms during the follow-ons.
I imagine adding the butt pouch to it would make sustainment almost laughably easy. Looking forward to investing in this soon. Love your products, always innovating solutions for problems long before they present themselves.
Cheers from a thankful paratrooper, 1-501st PIR 🇺🇸

This is getting into hypotheticals but I feel like as a civilian in wrol you will be spending a reasonable amount of time walking and being close to the ground just observing whats going on, taking notes, setting up barriers, etc. Military LBE is not really geared around carrying binoculars, rangefinders, maps, loose ammo, snacks, gloves, hats, cigarettes, 16oz water bottles, power banks and many other common civilian items. I like that spiritus systems products are very "open ended" and can carry whatever. Of course a walmart backpack or a duffle bag can carry plenty of stuff inconspicuously

I understand this product is designed to be used in conjunction with the 34A split rig, but molle was placed on the rear showing you guys gave some consideration to alternate ways of utilizing the pouch. Yet you omitted the belt pass through on this product, why? In the video Adam even states "the belt pass through that is organic on almost every pouch that we make." This is a buttpack, why does it not have a native way to belt mount it?

I think the industry, that means you, is almost there. The added weight and complexity of "modular" systems makes them less efficient. They're heavier, bulkier, an almost less adaptable.
When you get to the point of purpose built systems where everything has its place with a few GP areas here and there, then tye industry will be right on target.
There are only so many roles people will play and the base gear is all the same. It isn't necessary to have such modularity and it just detracts from the system.
For instance, just sew packets for the Nalgene bottles on either side. It will cost less to manufacture, hang better on the side, lower profile, and less weight. If you're worried about limitations then make 2 versions and add one for canteens. It's cheaper, works better, and creates a certain level of commonality that will he helpful when teaming with others.
I'm excited for the direction you're taking things.

    • @warriorgospel8168

Preference really. I’ve tried these old setups numerous times. Can never set them up in any real way that I like them.
If the butt pack is too small, you might as well just use a GP pouch or nothing at all.
If the butt pack is too big, it makes it a real pain to wear anything other than a daypack. A pain to ride in any vehicles, a pain to access the contents without taking off or moving the belt around, etc.
If I had to choose between these old school belt kits, or a 25-30L assault pack for being out for an extended period of time, I’m picking the assault pack every time.

No different from the old alice lbe setup I used in the Army. I still use a h harness with buttback,m16 mag pouches, and a compass pouch. Although I did update with a padded belt with old school pistol belt.

I've been trying to set up my duece gear (same set up as yours), but I must be wearing the backstraps too high. It's putting a lot of pressure on my upper back. I need to have one of my kids help me adjust it for me.

When we switched to the Alice "Y" suspenders, I went out and bought a (new) old "H" suspenders for myself. I kept the old wooden handle E-tool instead of the tri-fold new one.

@@ronaldrobertson2332 lower the suspenders straps and tighten the belt to your waist like a rucksack. should help.

Now you guys just have to fix the elastic on the 34A rig to have 3 5.56 mags on each side instead of having mixed and matched magazine pouches

Get a triple placard from T3 Gear. It has Moller on front so you're adding the capability for mags, and still retaining the molle to put your gp pouches and such up front. I agree it should already come like this but 🤷🏼‍♂️

I like it the way it is because I can use it for different things...though one of them being a map pouch would be awesome.

See i like the mix match elastic pockets on the back cause i run both 5.56 and 7.62 so it works great for me. If i had to choose one tho id go with a bigger 7.62

Parashooter makes a split rig that has three mag slots. Thinking it'll for prefect with this.

190 bucks for a single butt pouch thats proprietary to spiritus systems kit. Get the Fox Outdoor Recon Buttpouch for 40 bucks and you'll have the same roll up internal design and external waterproofing these have, plus more pockets and space, and it can be made to go on any belt/vest. If you want a removable internal bag just buy one that fits for 10 bucks. Now use the rest of the money you saved to buy an Enhanced LBV-88 or a USGI LBV and whatever belt you want + pouches.

A lot of people are noticing that this is kind of a throw back to older gear. I think the thing to take away from that is how war is changing back into what it was
