The thing history has forgotten, was that stalin was planning on attacking Germany, but hitler beat him to the punch. Another thing history forgot was that stalin also invaded Poland with hitler, but the British and france only declared war on Germany and ignored the russian invasion of Poland.

They also (soviets). attacked and annexed Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia. If Germany had stayed at the 100,000 allowed by the treaty of Versailles I believe the Soviets would have grabbed all Europe or most of it.

Good point. I’ve also been baffled by this fact that Russia took the other half of Poland yet we only declared war on Germany and buddied up to Russia. Even if it was a choice of the enemy of our enemy is our friend it’s still an ignored fact in history.

They declared war because of the German invasion of Poland while Russia was getting their slice of it.
Germany was the bigger problem at that time and Russia had a non aggression pact which didn't quite have them on a war footing.
Great Britain and France had a mutual assistance pact with Poland, directly because of the German aggression in WW1.
So naturally, that's who they declared war on.

My husband served in Germany during 3 tours beginning in the mid 1970s. I had the opportunity to work and speak with many locals who either lived through the years, or fought for the "Fatherland ".
One gentleman was "lucky enough " to survive his walk back from Russia. You had to consider both sides with an open mind. His story was heartbreaking as he talked about watching comrades and friends dying from cold and starvation and just the distance covered. He admitted Germany was at fault. Yet, still missed his friends.
Wouldn't you think after so many deaths during the entirety of WW2, we as humans, would have learned something/anything?
Now we have the rise of China looming ahead. Ukraine and Russia.
People need to very seriously look at the World Economic Forum and its tentacles around the world. This is a very dire threat to human existence and freedoms.
When you have leaders from countries all singing the praisesxof China and the World Economic Forum, it's time to STAND UP and PUSH BACK ASAP.
Don't wait for the world to be turned into a police state, your freedoms and GOD given rights abolished before waking up.
The same propaganda rulebook from the Nazis is being used against us now. Learn from history and push back NOW.
From fear mongering about COVID to masks (which the Cochran Report proved masks don't work) to using climate change against us. STAND UP NOW.

It's crazy the things that we can rationalize in our mind when the shoe's on the other foot I think one of the biggest atrocities to fall on mankind in a long time is the mistranslation of the ten commandments where it says thou shalt not kill it's supposed to be translated to basically thou shalt not murder there's a big difference between the two one is somewhat justified the other is not a lot of people that fought that for years when they go to war taking out some not kill is what it meant self-murder when you're defending your country that's not murder

You may be captured as a POW, then killed after, the charge against those carrying out that action would be murder. SS units did this in France in 1940 & 1944 & investigations took place. US soldiers stood trial for this in Sicily/Italy. It was probably far more common (on all sides) than reported.

i am not sure of the relevance of this question to Napoleon except that he committed hundreds of thousands to his campaigns and when he had wasted them asked for more. Profligate wastage of human life for the glory of the Emperor. But Carpet bombing was developed in the late 1930s in recognition that bomb sights at the time were so inexact that bombs had a likely miss rate of 5 to 10 miles. This could be slightly improved by getting master bombers to lead the bomber stream to the target and by dropping bombs as a group in the general area of the master bomber. This meant hoping to hit the target by swamping the area with bombs. Bomb sights improved and accuracy meant carpet bombing was eventually phased out--but it was still being used by American B 52s in Vietnam. So poor technology gave rise to area bombing.

When he said, a Lt. died a heroic death, it told me a lot about how he had brought into the Naxi world..In all these diaries, the question of when they would be replaced and the continued destruction of their tanks and soldiers who were starved to death or frostbite took the limbs, but some of these German SS soldiers were hard core and stayed on after the soldiers moved on to hunt for Jews and other "non aryans "to put them to death...The average soldier in the Russian front just wanted to leave and go back to their country and families....All the time Hitler and Stalin were locked in a war of personalities and the soldiers, citizens, animals and everything else.

They didnt hunt Jews at the front, that was the task of the Einsatzgruppen far behind the front. The SS units were always at the front where needed like special forces between the regular troops.

The Red Army and the Soviet Union as a whole was a system and a nation which needed to be eradicated from the world. The Red Army has no glory, they started this war together with the Nazis and after partitioning eastern europe and enslaving the People in theire Zone they were draged into the conflict forcefully by the very same people with which they enslaved eastern europe.
Also the Soviet Union would never win alone, let alone they were Not to attack the Nazis except they were wore down in a war against the West. The Communists would have taken no actions against the Nazis because they were opportunistic cowards like every Red before and after this War

They would have been in the losing side had they not been betrayed by Germany in the first place. Stalin was worse than Hitler and has the body count to show for it. He threw his people in human waves and didn't care. They had guys standing behind them, ready to shoot them if they didn't go forward.

Sharing personal information/combat experiences. Making this documentary more authentic. Fighting/perishing/surviving knowing certain death/debilitating wounds were often times possible. Yet still advanced forward regardless of the consequences. True grit style determination to succeed. For a diabolical 😈/disillusioned/self serving/treacherous. Any country that invades another deserves what it gets when it eventually loses. Then and now. Unfortunately it's the soldiers and civilians who pay the ultimate price and its rare for the invaders land and civilians to be ravaged in fair turn. If that were so, invasions would not be started so frequently.. then as well as today.

    • @frankschaeffer8153

By that logic the Soviets got what they deserved as they had 1) agreed to Hitler's invasion of Poland and 2) invaded Finnland, the Baltics, and Poland. They also supported Hitler's invasion of France. The only thing they didn't appreciate was when they were suddenly on the receiving end. And "suddenly" is most likely not true as they had been very well informed well ahead of time.

At 2:33/1:41:40 the narrator says “we will rest until the offensive résumé’s”, but I think what he should be saying is “ we will rest until the offensive resumes (rēsumes)”. You should try editing this out because it sounds completely ridiculous. This is the danger of using digital voices for your narrations, they don’t always use the right word when reading aloud. The fact that you use a digital voice to avoid having to directly narrate combined with the fact that, at least the title is sympathetic towards the efforts of the German army in Russia during World War II and the fact that you call this, German officer, who you stay in the video doesn’t even mention civilians because they don’t exist to him, you call him “murdered” while being part of an invasion that was characterized by widespread German brutality makes me time to think this channel has fascist sentiments. This is an alarming trend.
