Scoring a goal in the 2006 WC video game was amazing. The crowd sounded gigantic. No other FIFA game has ever had better crowd audio.

Fifa 2003 was awesome as well. I loved that the crowd was almost a bit too loud when you scored a goal.
Improved graphics but unfortunately they failed to improve presentation.
Decrease in all the others, EA just improved in graphics…sad
@@roger1098 Back to 98 and 2002 system with no qualifying mode and including only the teams that really qualified plus about 10 or more that did not... At least 98 and 2002 were and are still great.
But 2006 was the best for me. I still regret for 2010 and 2014 not being released on PC... I tried to use PS3 emulator, but on XP and 7 the emulator doesn't work...

2010 was exactly the same format. It's too bad they changed that from 2018 and on...
I had a lot of fun until I had to choose a final 23 after qualification and there was a big issue: I couldn't choose players that I wanted for the world cup... I remember I was so frustrated so the best wc game for me is 2010 wc

Some of the editions from the past really had their charms. I particularly liked the intro for the matches in the 2002 edition because they included that little light show and the giant flags in the crowd. The 2006 edition was the last edition in which you'd be able to play a full 90 minutes match, which was the thing I always enjoyed a lot about these games. The graphics in the intros of matches were a little bit off with all that weird confetti, although those balloons and the celebrations were nice. The graphics in the later editions were improving, but it was at the cost of the full match time setting and some major graphic glitches in the 2014 edition (during substitutions at daytime, the sky went black quite frequently), allthough the fan shots from outside the stadium was a nice touch. From there on the graphics may be top notch on the next gen consoles, but the gameplay has become more less streamlined and I believe thanks the number of teams to choose from has decreased, not to mention all the stuff about the modern downloading thing (often you must pay extra for content for a game you already bought, which I think is weird; there are 'season passes', but that is not far from the same thing, in my opinion).

@@brunoshkurti7740 Well the game was also great for its time conaidering the fact that there is no qualifying campaign and that it was released on CD with less than 700MBs. It would have been much better if it was released later, like Germany 2006.

I really enjoyed those games, because every country was included and you could make your own tournament.
Really wish that a separate game could’ve been designed for this year’s World Cup.

They don't want to risk having the younger players get away from Ultimate Team and realize the game can actually be fun without having to spend your whole allowance on packs. So they release a DLC with as few content as possible just so they will keep the World Cup license.

I got World Cup 98 for Christmas. It was my first ever football game and I played it to death.. Seeing how my hopeless little nation never qualifies for the World Cup, all I could do was pretend through video games.. Beating Brazil 10-0 in the final.. Very realistic ^^

The recent editions may look more realistic, but one thing from the '98 and 2002 editions was more realistic than what we see now: scoring from more different distances. Really, try scoring from 20+ meters now and every time the ball is caught or deflected by the keeper, while you could be surprised by some awesome crackers of long distance goals in the older games.
