Hello there.
My name is Quentin. I've been to Oran Mor Community before and I'm leaving a comment because Oran Mor Community is a pretty dysfunctional intentional community that I had a bad experience with. My first visit to Oran Mor lasted about one week and a few days back in August of 2015. There were a lot of tensions, and a family came shortly after I arrived with the intentions of stealing the community from Dez and Carlos which got resolved months later. Dez and Carlos are the ones who were running Oran Mor when I first arrived seeing as they "inherited" the community from Pearl and Bunny.
It was starting to get pretty bad with that first visit and the problem that Dez was having with me at the time of my first visit was that I was dealing with some bad traumatic experiences from an earlier community that I was at during the late spring and early summer of 2015. She wasn't understanding the depression that I was going through. Dez herself is a very emotionally abusive individual. Very ignorant and deluded in her beliefs. There was a very piss poor understanding of me from her. I decided to leave Oran Mor before things could get potentially worse. Especially seeing as I was being taken advantage of when it came to my physical labor.
Unfortunately, I decided to go back to Oran Mor Community to try and give it a fair chance to see if it will be a good fit for me or not because I felt that the first visit was short and brief. My second visit to Oran Mor lasted for seven months from July of 2016 to January of 2017. This second stay was pretty rough for me. It was not good living with Dez, Carlos, Kalani who is their son, and Opa who is Dez's father due to a severe lack of connection. Staying and living with this family was not very comfortable for me due to a lot of anti-science and anti-intellectual beliefs that they had. Dez is an anti-vaxxer and a believer in pseudoscience such as alternative medicine and astrology. Utter nonsense basically. They have fallen victim to the appeal to nature logical fallacy. Plus, they are very incompetent farmers seeing as all the goats that they had all died. Most of them anyway and Oran Mor no longer has goats due to their inexperience and lack of skills of running an intentional community farm. It really doesn't help that Dez has a severe deluded interpretation of the world due to her primitive brain structure. They're idiots. Having strange new age beliefs that are nonsensical. The relationship between Dez and Carlos was pretty dysfunctional due to Dez being a slut shamer and Carlos being someone who wasn't that faithful to begin with. Oran Mor Community is in Squires, Missouri which is in the bible belt of the United States. As an atheist I felt trapped at Oran Mor seeing as I didn't give a damn for the new age crap of Oran Mor and the bible thumpers in the surrounding area. My frustration with Oran Mor was growing and Dez took notice of it. She felt that me taking a break from Oran Mor might help and I took the time to get away from Oran Mor by going out west to try and visit other intentional communities.
Me going out west didn't really help and I decided to come back to Oran Mor for a third time in order to save myself from being homeless. This third visit only lasted a month and a few weeks from April to May of 2017. I was not interested in being at Oran Mor and I was only trying to figure something else out before moving on from the place. It only deteriorated from here on out because I could tell that Dez and Carlos were feeling more uneasy of me being there and I was not going to waste my time trying to talk to them to see if compromises could be made. These people are close-minded and a bunch of deadbeats. Talking to them was not going to go anywhere especially because Dez and her family are irrational losers. They just finally asked me to leave after I got angry with them seeing as they have no respect for me. The only problem was that I had nowhere to go to and they didn't care that they were condemning me to homelessness. Pure apathy is all it was, and Oran Mor is a shitty intentional community. Dez truly is a freaking idiot with a very naive view of the world. She got knocked up by Carlos again and they have a daughter named Inanna. Only for Dez and Carlos to no longer be in a relationship with one another and Opa died in June of 2022. Kalani and Inanna should be taken away from Oran Mor and be never returned to Dez or Carlos. They're shitty parents.
Oran Mor Community is falling into ecofascism at this point because of the friendship that Dez has with a cult in Lafayette, Tennessee called The Garden. Oh well. It is what it is. At least Oran Mor itself is not a cult but a very piss poor and incompetent intentional community. It was never right that Dez and Carlos "inherited" Oran Mor Community by Pearl and Bunny. That is what you call socially privileged. Other than that, I regret going to Oran Mor. I never should have spent so much time there as I did because I have nothing to show for it. There were no connections that I made, and it was really unpleasant living there. Dez and Carlos are a couple of dipshits that discriminate against people like me. All they care about is living in a fantasy world that is far away from reality. People should stay away from Oran Mor. There's nothing to gain and nothing to learn from this community of cuntbags. What people are going to get is apathy and Dez being a controlling deluded cunt. Just don't do it and stay away.
It's not worth a damn.
