Had a Yamaha 400 2-cyl. street bike back in the middle-late 70's. Don't remember the model, but it was a great bike for getting around on. Very reliable. Had enough power for me.
Not sure about model you mentioned. But SR400 debut in 1978 as we knew :)

Wow, A motorcycle that looks like...well...a motorcycle and not a transformer.
I have big bikes but I ride my SR400 the most, it's just so much fun. Light, nimble, easy to start. The only thing I changed was I put a Power Plug in (runs too lean) and installed a cocktail shaker muffler on (runs dangerously quiet). Later I'm going to put an oil cooler on it (because I ride it so much). I just love my SR400. Maybe because I'm old (67) and it reminds me of my bikes when I was young.

One thing i always disliked about the design of this bike is the fakt that the frame has such a small clearance above the ground. Otherwise they are a stunner and i would love to have one obviously.
If you love the adventure riding style, you may need to upgrade the suspensions :) Ride safe!

Or by one of these when they brought into the UK a couple years ago I thought it make a good project bike, until I see in the price of them over £5000.
their development cost as already been paid for many times over they are the same bike as they were way back in the 80s except for fuel injection which doesn't cost the year to put on a bike. if they had brought it into the UK at a price of £3500, then I would brought one. but not £5000 it is why they never sold in the UK.
only a fool would pay modern day prices for 1980 design. and as you can see there are plenty of them around the world.
Hi Joe, SR400 (2019 model) price in Thailand is around £7300 (275000THB). At this point, It is cheaper in UK comparing to in Thailand :)
@@Pongpipat4849 Then all I can say then, there must be either a lot of foolish people in Thailand or a lot of rich ones who have money to burn to pay such a ridiculous price for a single cylinder motorcycle whose production and design costs were paid for way back in the 1980s.
Us UK bikers are more practical and spend our money wisely, we want value for money.
were not paying 2019 prices for 1980 design. that's why it failed to sell in the UK.
For there's an old saying we have in the UK, a fool and his money are easily parted .
The willingness of people to pay these ridiculous prices is what keeps the prices ridiculously high and companies to carry on ripping us off .
Its not only about the technology. Its the simplicity of the design and the reliability. The fact that its still in production and people’s loving it then maybe something good about it.

400 cc is ideal for Asian ride but on a USA highway it lacks acceleration and stability on any major highway !

While in Taiwan, I rode a BSA 500, shooting star, and it was nice for the road conditions. In USA I have ridden Harley Davison's, both Sportster and V-Rod. Both bike weigh nearly or more than 600 lb's. They are stable on the highways. If you ever rode on I-80 near Rawling Wy, you know these steep hills and a 400-cc just can not climb. Anyway, I am a motorcycle fan and I love Japanese bikes! Good luck; have fun !
