I love Twaines’ stories, when I read or hear them I always picture My Grandpa reading them aloud, straight-faced with eyes dancing! This Reader does an excellent job too, just lacks the piquant touch of a Man raised in Mississippi; a thoroughly enjoyable ‘Listen’. Btw: Anyone Else think that the story The Million Pound Note inspired the ‘80s movie Brewster Millions? …I’ll have to go back and re-watch it, it’s been a few decades.😉😁 Thanks so much for this!
Hmmm, Trading Places is another I think may have been loosely inspired by The Million Pound Note; it even has the two elderly Brothers making a wager (an experiment) on Human Nature. …I’d say both movies were inspired by Twaines’ story. (I’m looking forward to re-watching both!) 😄😂😂
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I can’t stop smiling and chuckling over these stories that I didn’t know existed. The narrator is marvelous. I especially like it since it’s not read in an imitation Mark Twain dialect which I find annoying.
I had to stop listening because the narrator, like most men, makes female characters sound ridiculous when he attempts to portray them. I would prefer it if he just read out loud without attempting to act the characters out. It's too bad because he has a lovely voice and very clear diction.
