- The Tornado IDS WTD61 is a premium Rank VII, 11.0 Battle Rating strike aircraft introduced in Air Superiority. While it is a nice bomb truck, it's a bit of a struggle bus when it comes to ground RB battles. However, if you ever do get a good bomb run in, it does carry 12 1000lb bombs, and that's a lot of pain to deliver!

Honestly, with as good of a bomb truck as the Tornado is, two Aims and the Mauser cannon are more than enough of an air to air compliment.
WTD61 is the air testsite of the Bundeswehr in Bavaria. Where they test all sorts of airplanes and weapons.
The Tornado was sadly dead on arrival for the most part when they first added them, and this is just a slightly lowered version. You *can* make it work if you fly it exactly within its designed profile and no fighter manages to find your big brick during ingress... but it just isn't very good even then.
My perspective is being a ground RB main and I care anything arial for CAS only. Or anti CAS fighters against enemy CAS. The German tree never had competitive premium CAS for high or Top BR ground RB. They carefully keep it this way. Yeah they have some helicopters but without thermal vision sight or long enough ATGM range. Yeah they have this one and only CAS plane without guided bombs or missile systems to go against the almighty Russian bias anti air vehicles. Good luck to have any fun with it! German Top BR anti air is also far the worst fall way behing everything else leaving Leopards wide open as free pray for Russian and American CAS players.
Good vid. I was debating on this plane as I just ground out the 2a7 and pso and was thinking this to round out the line up. With bomb busses I found the low level attack runs the most exciting and rewarding.
Pretty much need to stay right on the deck with it. The parachute bombs are nice for that.
Wtd61 is "Wehr Technische Dienst" is the German Defence forces technical test department. Sort of like the Aberdeen prooving grounds.

I'd rather the event one we got with the ability to launch them AS.34 Kormoran missiles. But hey top tier CAS not an easy job to do these days nothing like props or mid tier CAS
