      @NiceTryLaoChe He'll never have to know. ESPECIALLY relevant is how he never actually went to war, even if the character claimed to want to. As honorable as the claim is ... the fact of the matter is his wealth and status kept him away from the war.

      @@GrandAngel8000 That was mostly his age. He was 48 when war broke out. Other than career generals, there weren't many 48 year olds off fighting. i wondered what Maggie thought about a cat on the set, and i found out that she loves cats. The Dower house set is at Byfleet Manor, and i think the cat in the scene is a resident there, apparently there are several, along with many other animals.

    Watch at 0:32 a cat can be seen on the windowsill. I think it is the only time this cat is seen in Downton Abbey. In my opinion, it is carefully and deliberately put into the scene. Greetings from Belgium.

    “I wish it was a procedure I was more familiar with”, “will that serve as your excuse, when he dies?” In the modern world, this would be not an excuse but the reason a procedure wasn’t done. Unfamiliarity with a procedure may result in a more catastrophic event than not doing the procedure especially where the heart is involved. Of course, modern day communication doesn’t leave many Drs completely alone when attempting an unfamiliar procedure.

    0:51 This story really made me uncomfortable and honestly siding with Dr. Clarkson. Although Mr. Drake’s prognosis was not good and it would have obviously been sad if he died, Isobel should not have pushed Dr. Clarkson to perform a procedure he was clearly uncomfortable with.
    To be honest, I think Isobel and Clarkson would’ve made a great match. Oh well!

    Can someone with Medical Knowledge please explain what exactly happened with that man?
    What were they doing? Pumping out of him?😨

    • @markmh835
      @markmh835 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +19

      Fluid was accumulating in the sac/membrane around his heart. For most of us, it is reabsorbed and replaced. But sometimes it does not get reabsorbed and accumulates, putting pressure on the heart so that it does not pump efficiently. Eventually this will lead first to greater fatigue and weakness and eventual death.
      The standard treatment for over 100 years is to remove the excess fluid from around the heart by needle. This often/usually results in the heart stopping, so you inject adrenaline which stimulates the heart to start pumping again. In reality, an easy solution to a life-threatening condition.

      You may have gotten the answer to this already, but there wasn't any tea in the little pot at first. That first bit of hot water was just to warm up the pot, that water was thrown out and it was now warm enough to brew tea in with fresh water...
      why this was all necessary I do not actually know, I don't think it makes much of a difference weather the pot was warm or not. It's just all part of the 'ceremony' of making tea.
