Hey mate awesome video, it was exactly what I was looking for and solved my issue (I'm shocked at how easy it was to replace for a fwd car). Just one thing to note that you're working on a Mk5 Fiesta, not a Mk6 so might be worth updating Otherwise thanks so much for the video mate you're a lifesaver
Hi followed your video all went well until I see what looks like 2 small wires hanging down with a l shaped pin plug on the end but not seem to find where it gose any help on this thanks
thanks for the comment, not really had that before mate, if its jammed in the flywheel turn slightly turning the engine over with a screwdriver against the flywheel teeth
I guess (hope) you’ve got it off now, but I had the very same issue today, used a 2 foot piece of 1.5” square timber and a lump hammer from above onto the casting where the solenoid fits, one tap and it was free 😊
@Jeeper585858 same with me. I used a crowbar and a hammer took a long time smashed the old starter to peices but it finally came off. Was properly welded
What is that connector under the starter motor called? I've lost that safety clamp when I've replaced my starter and I want to buy a new one but I don't know what's the name of that
What is that little black rubber thingy on the bottom of the starter motor?? I was under my mazda 2 today and noticed that black rubber thingy has broken... Is that something to worry about?
some starters have a little water drain piece off the bottom or it could be the plastic surround for the cable , its should be ok along as it hasn't left a bar cable exposed
@@diydaly yeah I thought it could of been a drain off of some kind, as I didn't see any wires exposed. Thanks for the reply... The mazda 2/ford fusion 1.4 tdci is nearly back on the road lol.

Great clear video. Would a Mark 4 Fiesta be similar?
Yes very similar
Can I do this job with just a trolley jack? Would you jack up the passenger side?
Yeah 👍 , yeah should give you abit better access
Bro, nice video! However.... My starter is STUCK in position... All bolts out but it wont seperate from the engine. Any ideas?
thanks for the comment, not really had that before mate, if its jammed in the flywheel turn slightly turning the engine over with a screwdriver against the flywheel teeth
@@diydaly "this was the point where he knew, he'd ###ked up!" Lol. Cheers man
@@mr-j-7930 lol 👌
Mine was te same, I've just lightly knocked into it until it got separated a little and it went straight out
Got the same issue, it wont move at all, i had one of the bolts securing the starter really badly stuck as well.
Great video. If i was to get this work done at a Garage what would it cost for the same car. Psrts and labour. Thank you
thanks, obviously this car massively vary depending on labour rates & quality of the part but id say on average expect to pay around £150-£200
Mine won't come off. All bolts out literally nothing left to take out but it's seized solid, any ideas what to do?

Im pretty sure that's the crank sensor underneath the starter
