    Thanks for sharing! We’ve done about everything…super expensive organic feed to free ranging with only table scraps to fermenting feeds and all combos in between. And you know what? Chickens popped out eggs and looked happy and healthy either way. You are right! You don’t have to spend the big $$ to have productive and healthy hens.

      Yessss!! And I hear of people bring picky with their feed and then have trouble with eggs. I think sometimes we get involved to much, instead of letting farm animals be farm animals! Take care of them of course! But don’t over think it.

    If you have old hay that your goats and cow won’t eat, take it to your compost pile mix it with your cow, and goat manure
    It’s gold for your garden
    Make sure you rotate your compost and wet it down so that it breaks down
    It’ll be great fertilizer:)

    Great video!! I'm happy to have found you - I love your family already!
    Our cows LOVE tree leaves as well! We discovered that by accident - a birch fell during a storm. The cows stripped every leaf off of it - even though they had grass to eat! Oh, and our steer once got into a wild raspberry thicket and they loved those leaves as well.
    BTW - our chickens love what we call "chicken cheese." It's the extra skim milk we have, heated with a bit of vinegar to make cheese. We don't have pigs all the time so this is a way to use up our extra milk...the chickens eat it better than clabber or drinking the milk directly.

      Wow that’s good to know about the cows and chickens! How smart is that to make the chicken cheese. Great idea!

    you do know you shouldn't have cracked corn in the chick feed right?

    • @squeakytreehomestead
      @squeakytreehomestead 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cracked corn is ok in moderation and or as a treat. It shouldn’t be a full diet. Which it is not their full diet at all.

      @@squeakytreehomestead Check this video at 1:39 it looks like cracked/ground corn in the feed for the babies

      @@DuaneT64 no offense at all! We love help and feedback. I edited my comment not sure if you saw it. We think that cracked corn is ok in moderation as long as it’s not the full diet.
